2007 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC07 - October 21, 2007

ok, It's too hot here also. I am pooped. Laundry, grocery shopiing and house is clean!!! Well at least the bottom half. Now it's pool time.

We are off to Tallahassee tomorrow to set up youngest son for his second year at FSU. Last year he lived in the dorm. So we have to buy a bed, desk, etc. I hope Sam's has everything we need. I really don't like Tallahassee, it's hot, dirty and crowded. School doesn't start until the 27th. Summer goes too fast. I like having the boys home. My oldest will be a senior.

Update on the car- they totaled it. We won't get the check until sometime next week. I am fighting with them about the rent a car. They will only pay until Tuesday. We won't even have the check by then.

Have a great Saturday.

Thanks for the nice welcome onto the cruise meet forum and DVC cruisers club.We can't wait until we land in orlando and go over to the new Animal Kingdom Villas staying in a savannah view studio.
I have sent my info in to get on the roster so maybe soon I will see my info posted and thanks to those who do all the work organizing everything.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. Here in NJ last night we had really wicked storms come through. This morning we awoke to a boil water advisory for the whole county since the water plant was hit by lightning- needless to say I had already had my coffee made with tap water. Oh well! Hopefully everyone else is having a nice Saturday!

I, too, have been lurking since booking the cruise but figured I had better jump in at some point. For my sister and I this will be our third member cruise and a friend of ours is joining us for her second. We are flying in Saturday evening as I have to work Saturday and have room booked at the airport Hyatt for that night. We are planning to catch an early bus from the airport and get to terminal.

I noticed today when I pulled up our reservation online that we are listed as having main seating dinner. All of our notes from booking day show we requested late but we figure we'll try early this time. This will be our 7th DCL cruise and only our second time with early dining so it will be an adjustment.

I have been reading Mark and Mary's website and will try to remember to email them our info this weekend. I can't promise to post a lot or often but I will be lurking.

I have a feeling that those storms are on their way to Michigan. We are supposed to have large thunder storms Sun, Mon and Tues!!! Of course Mon and Tue are my days off. I'm not complaining, my grass is so dry from about 10 days of heat that has been over ninety degrees. Great for selling a/c units not so great for our lawn.
Hope everybody has a great weekend. princess:

Hopefully for you they don't come your way - the lightning was incredible. IT was just non-stop all over the sky for at least an hour.
I don't mind a storm like that as long as all in my family are home safe and sound - which we were - although my son did wake up scared from the thunder.
tigger...we are in Maywood - also next to Paramus. I know Washington Twp. well - got married at Season's there - I'm sure your wife will know of it!

you will get it in the mail a few weeks out.

If you wan to link up for dining send me your full names, ages, cabin numbers and if early or late seating.

Welcome back!!!

Wonderful, thanks! I will send you an IM now.

jemiaule,

THere is a group of us that are going to get a van from WDW to PC and then back to WDW.

Would you like to join in the fun :goodvibes

So far we have 6 people. Hoping to get to 10. That would bring the cost down to like 42.00 round trip pp (on the high end). If we have 8 which with you guys (is there two of you??) it would be $50.00 each person (on the high end).

You can PM me, and let me know here that you are in for sure.

The company that I picked said the earliest they can drop us off at the port is 10:00..and we all wanted to be early so we are going for the earliest time.

are you going back to Disney after - which hotel?

JUST NOTICED THAT THERE IS 3 of YOU....that means that there would be 9 of us. That would make it 45 round trip..

Thanks,
Stacey....

Thanks Stacey! Do you know if there is any chance the van could drop us at the airport at the end of the cruise? We are staying at the airport Hyatt and flying home the next morning.

Are you all at Beach Club also or will we need to get ourselves over to another resort?

Leaving by 10am should not be a problem. We have Cape May breakfast ressies but I am sure I can make them earlier to be safe that we are done in time.

How many of you are going to MNSSHP and what are your dates. We are going when we get back on the 26th.My 2 oldest daughters did not want to go on this trip but when they found out I had tickets for MNSSHP they changed there mind. They are flying in on the 24th a night before us getting off the ship.

Jemiaule,

We would actally be leaving for the port at around 8:30 so I don't know if you could still do your breakfast at cape Mays.

I would need to check into the airport run if you still want to go with us.

It is 10.00 extra to go to different hotels, but I included that in the worst case pricing....

TIGGERguy - we are going to MNSSHP on the 26th also!!!

I would have maybe done the van ride but im booked on the cruise bus which was a gift.I was looking over some old posts and someone said it don't leave Disney resorts until 1pm which will put us at the boat around 2pm.I dont see them taking us that late but maybe someone knows what time they actually leave the resorts.
On our last cruise in november we got to the port early and waited around forever.I don't think we boarded until 1:45 or 2pm.I think the boarding should start at 1pm but maybe im wrong.I know it only took us about 10 to 15 minutes to check in and that was because we had a guy in training checking us in.
When we got on the ship they pointed you to the dining room or elevator so we went in for some food since we have not had anything all day.My wife thought when the waitress said would you like a drink in a souvenir glass that they are free so she got everyone a glass.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I quess this is my tip for a cruise newbie

We are going to MNSSHP on the 26th also. :woohoo: I thought the twins would enjoy it, even if they won't remember, I'll still have the memories and pics of them (we also have ADRs at CRT for dinner)  . We went one year with the older girls (now 18 & 16). They want to go and are jealous.

My daughters are 18 and 16.I Booked them flights and ordered tickets when they wanted to go to the MNSSHP.Im sure my oldest wanted to go on the cruise but that would leave one home so that would never have worked.Im sure they are happy now knowing they have one day for themselves at SSR/Downtown before we get off the boat.

We sail in 11 weeks!

A couple of reminders:

If you want to link for dinner with other DISers be sure and pm Joannel with your names, ages, cabin number, reservation number and whether you are early or late seating.

There is still time to vote on the pre-cruise DIS meet. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1526461
Voting closes Tuesday!

I've received a few pm's so will hopefully be updating the web page in the next day or so. I'll post when it is updated.

Good morning all,

I can relate to the storms, we get them all summer. Some are way too close for me.

Have a great Sunday.

11 weeks!!!!

If you leave for the Port around 8:30 and get there before 10 am, they have you park across the street and wait for the gates to open. For others that come in behind you, they will get through the gates behind you. They don't get ahead of you. It is very orderly.

I leave for another cruise on Aug 23rd and I'll let you know if it is any different. And if that one is different, I'll see if it is different for my cruise on Sept. 13th. It should all be the same, tho.

After checking in at the Terminal, boarding starts between 11:30 and 11:45 or so. But no later than Noon. I've been on 4 cruises this year already and that is what I remember from being there early twice.

So it is really no "hurry" to get to the Port early.

There is no frantic rush to either check in or board the ship.

Also, if you don't want to go to the dining room, which is what the CM's do, as you walk down the hallway, tell them you want to go to the Buffet on Deck 9. It is perfectly OK - just take the elevator up. Some people don't realize that.

Just another note:

if you want to book Palo before going to eat, you should do that first.

The check in for Palo is on the same deck as we board. Go to Guest Services and take a right and then another left and the check is around the corner - in - I think it is called Rockin D Bar??? You can't miss it.

And then you can go eat.:thumbsup2

Is there a DVC discount on MNSSHP? Amanda and I are trying to decide whether or not to do it. We also can't decide if we should do it before the cruise or after. Any thoughts?
