2007 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC07 - October 21, 2007

Woo hoo!! 11 weeks!! And yes it is raining here but the lake kicked out any storms, it usually does. We are so bone dry, we haven't had any significat rain since the end of June :) I am happy we are getting something.

Quick question on booking excursions. I am pretty sure I can book the 7th, does this mean I should be up late Monday night to book them?? What time can I start to book?

There is a discount for DVC members for the MNSSHP, but it is for only certain days.

I can't remember the days, but it isn't on teh 26th when we are going. They may not have had it any day when we are there.

I think it is on the DVC member page (I have to find my sign on)..but I know I saw the dates somewhere.

You guys should go (even without hte discount) at least once if you haven't been.

It is a lot of fun...

I have not seen that cheap of a discount but Dvc discount was for days we would be on the boat at $38.00 instead of $41.00.
Im glad I got ours since dates sell out before and the 26th is our only day.I dont want to go the day we get off the ship because we will be to tired and i will want to check out the pool at SSR.I have owned SSR 3 years and this is our first stay.I asked for congress park or the grandstand buildings.

We have not picked any excursions and we could have early since we are CC members.
What excursions are you doing and what date and time.

I was thinking about the glass bottom boat

we are doing the stingray excursion at 11:00 on the first day on CC....

I don't know that we will do another excursion, but plan on kayaking, snorkeling and maybe bike riding!

Can't wait!

I would love to do the Stingray excursion, but not allowed to get in the ocean water yet.
Hopefully by Sept. 2008 I will be able to - so I have over a year to wait for it.

My sister and nieces did it last year and they loved it. The CM's actually messed up on their time and they let them do it twice in a row. It was fun for them. It was their first Disney cruise also.

How many of you are going to MNSSHP and what are your dates. We are going when we get back on the 26th.My 2 oldest daughters did not want to go on this trip but when they found out I had tickets for MNSSHP they changed there mind. They are flying in on the 24th a night before us getting off the ship.

We are going to MNSSHP on 10/30 to celebrate DH's birthday.  We are staying at OWK after the cruise. Our youngest daughter (see picture for room 6102) will be with us.

Is there a DVC discount on MNSSHP? Amanda and I are trying to decide whether or not to do it. We also can't decide if we should do it before the cruise or after. Any thoughts?

If you like candy go as late in the month as possible, we have gone the past 3 years for DH's birthday on the 30th. It seems that since Disney dosn't want the candy to be thrown away they are VERY generous on the 30 & 31st. Also take the path which starts in Toontown and ends in Tomorrowland for the most spots. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

PS - The parade is NOT to be missed we see it both times every year.

I, too, have been lurking since booking the cruise but figured I had better jump in at some point. For my sister and I this will be our third member cruise and a friend of ours is joining us for her second. We are flying in Saturday evening as I have to work Saturday and have room booked at the airport Hyatt for that night. We are planning to catch an early bus from the airport and get to terminal.

I noticed today when I pulled up our reservation online that we are listed as having main seating dinner. All of our notes from booking day show we requested late but we figure we'll try early this time. This will be our 7th DCL cruise and only our second time with early dining so it will be an adjustment.

I have been reading Mark and Mary's website and will try to remember to email them our info this weekend. I can't promise to post a lot or often but I will be lurking.
Welcome to the boards. We are flying in on Sat the 20th as well. I am thinking about making ressies at the Hyatt also. We are going to get a car service to take us to the port. So maybe we could ride together, we've got 8 in our party and I wanted to get a limo and the max for passengers is 8 but I can change to a van if you all want to ride with us. I was thinking about having them pick us up around 8:30am and our return flight is the 25th at noon so the car service will drop us off at the airport as well. Let me know if you want to do that.

If you don't mind me asking what did you use to make your ressies for the Hyatt? I went online and the rate was $199 for lowest online and $160 for AAA Members. I was hoping for something a bit cheaper but I guess I can deal with it. Thanks

I want to do the stingray one on our first day at CC. Our second day we just might relax and then decide on bikes and such.

One more question -
In addition to the one above (about what time I can book this Tuesday) but if we book the bike/snorkel/float thing for our second day, decide not to do it, when do we have to cancel by so we won't be charged?

Thanks for the offer to share a ride. My sister has already paid for DCL transfers and refuses to budge, but I appreciate the thought. Plus we are staying at BCV until Monday after the cruise and not returning to the airport.

We are paying $208 for the Hyatt with an AAA rate. Too expensive I know but we aren't getting in until after 8pm and this way we can get our bags, drop them in the room and hopefully grab a quick bite before everything shuts down. We didn't want the hassle of renting a car for the night to stay somewhere else. I know a lot of the airport hotels have shuttles but I am traveling with 'ahem' fussy people and this was one less fight. I booked/payed in March and we split it three ways so it doesn't hurt so much now.

I hear you with not wanting a fight when traveling thats why I dont take anyone.I do want to go with others but being a new yorker living in jersey it has not changed so I dont do any invite.I don't have to worry about my wife's family because they are so into themselves and money hungry gamblers.Family trips to them are worhtless acts of wasting money. They like to make guys like Donald Trump rich.Hey you now how that goes they dont ever lose:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

You are welcome. Funny, we are not getting in till 8:45 either. I know what you mean about less to deal with. I don't want to have to worry about the bags and such so that is why I am looking to stay at the airport the night we arrive. I was planning on staying at the port but by the time we collect our bags and get to port it could be close to midnight.

We are also going to MNSSHP on the 26th. Looks like it will be a full house on that day! We will be at OKW from the Thursday to the Sunday so the 26th seemed like the perfect night. I heard that the weekend before Halloween tends to sell out so if you didn't order your tix, do it soon!
I am bummed though that there was a discount for that much. I paid 47 dollars each ticket  - did not see a discount listed on dvcmember.com
Oh well, maybe next year I'll do better researching!

DVCMOM99,Unless you have seen this Discount then don't believe it.They have no discounts for the 26th that I know of and as Disney dropping prices the day of the event I don't think so.The Disney motto is YOU PAY AND YOU PAY.The DVC discount was $38.00 on very few days and in a funny way they fall on the days we will be on the cruise.
bgsnmky tell us where it says $27.00 for the MNSSHP with Disney charging $45.00 and $38.00 on selected days.I want my money back on my tickets if thats so.Hey we can all ask for a refund and rebuy the tickets :thumbsup2

Amanda & I talked about it this morning, if its going to cost us almost $100 for MNSSHP we are going to skip it. We have done it a couple of times before. We'd rather spend the money on the cruise or having a really good dinner. Think of all the souvnier drink glasses we could get!!! Also a quick tip: if possible pack tissue paper for any breakables that you get. I also recommend plastic gallon size freezer bags. We use them to put outfits into, the clothes don't get as wrinkled and it makes it alot easier to find clothes when you are running late for dinner. We also take a travel size bottle of Downey wrinkle releaser. That stuff work miracles. Plus that way you don't have to run to the laundry room to use the iron in your bathrobe (don't ask) \

Can't wait for our vacation to start

MNSSHP for DVC and AP:

Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club members: $38.29 ages 10 & up (tax included) and $31.90 ages 3-9 (tax included) for September 14; October 4, 16, 21 and 23; November 2. Annual Passholder phone order tickets are held at will call and will require a valid ID and your annual pass for pickup. DVC members can order through Member Services.
***********************

I believe bgsnmky was referencing the DL Mickey Treat one - those prices are lower than the WDW (for good reason). WDW's Halloween party is not to be missed.

We are going on the 16th. Our WDW trip begins on the 12th - less of a countdown for us. Still can't wait though. Seems far off, but then summer is speeding by. Just getting prepared for school to start and then that, of course, will speed things up quite a bit.

Kids are looking forward to meeting the other kids on the ship. They're bummed it's a short trip, but we keep telling them it's a special cruise. :cool1:

Cobbler, I believe the cancellation policy on excursions is still 2 days out. I'm sure some of the recent cruisers can help on that. It might even say in some small print on the ressie site.
