2007-2008 cheer parent thread

Thanks!

Oops - realized I had a typo there. We are taking 8 teams, not 9. I think I counted the special needs team twice.

7 competitive and the special needs team.

Our teams are:
sm Jr 1
sm jr 5 (1st team in Colorado to ever earn a world bid)
lg yth 2
sm yth 3
lg sr 2
lg sr 4
lg sr coed 5
special needs team

Where are you staying? We are staying at the Buena Vista Palace.
We have 2 teams competing against you. They are
large youth 2 (DD's team) and small youth 3.
We are staying at ASSP. I hope it is sunny and warm!:thumbsup2

Good luck to your teams. Hope it is sunny and warm too!

If you happen to see a screaming pack of parents with the Special Needs team, I will be part of that group :cool1:

Edited to add:
We are close enough now to be in the 10 day forecast on Weather.com. Looks like our first 2 days are going to be in the high 70's and scattered showers and partly cloudy. I'll take it over cold and snow!

Just wanted to say Congrats to all the Suns that competed over the weekend at the Colorado State championships.

You were all so awesome!

Tiny 1 - State Champs
Large Youth 1 - State Champs
Junior 1 - State Champs, Level 1 Grand Champs
Large Youth 2 - State Champs
Large Senior 2 - State Champs
Youth 3 - State Champs, Level 3 Grand Champs
Large Senior 4 - State Champs, Level 4 Grand Champs
Junior 5 - state champs
Sr. Unlmtd Coed 5 - State Champs, level 5 Grand Champs
Open 6 - State Champs, Level 6 Grand Champs - coaches you really ROCK! Unbelievable routine. Now we understand why the teams are so talented, it is because the coaches bring their talent to their coaching. Spectacular - you had the spectators on their feet!
Special needs Team - Fantastic, Great Job. You are going to be awesome at UCA!

It was a great day and everybody, our teams and others, did fantastic. The quality of the cheer programs in Colorado just gets better and better and it is SO much fun to watch all the kids. Some gyms had just come back from CheerSport and it was a blast to see their National Championship routines. Those were awesome jackets, btw, from Cheersport!

Congratulations on a great weekend!:thumbsup2

Congrats!

Just got a text from older dd -- she's out tonight at a basketball game, our school's boy's team makde the playoffs, and the cheerleaders went to the game to do thier thing. They won the game and are advancing to the finals. I think dd likes the sideline cheering almost as much as the competition cheering

I will be in WDW for a dance competition this weekend with my younger dd's school dance team, staying at the All Stars. If anyone happens to be around (I think there may be a cheer comeptition in Orlando this weekend too) , look for the Long Island team in the black and red warm up suits.

Congratulations on a great weekend!:thumbsup2

Thanks. It was really a great competition and not just because the gym was so successful. All the teams looked spectacular out there. Sometimes you just wish that everybody could win.

Being relatively new to the sport (this is DD's third year), I had never seen the level 6 teams. There were three of them there, one a team for a semi-pro football team and two from the cheer gyms. It was exciting to watch.

See you next week.

Tell your daughter congratulations.

When I was cheering (back when the dinosaurs still roamed the earth), it was mandatory that a cheer team cheer for at least 2 games to be eligible for some of the competitions we went to.

I still remember how much fun it was, just going out and cheering without the stress of judges and hitting your routine perfectly.

Good luck this weekend in Orlando!

Sounds like everyone is having a good season so far!! DD does not compete until April 5 &6 in Springfield MA. This is a good thing as tonight is her first practice in 6 weeks!!!!! I think she is nervous but plans to take it slow. I heard her upstairs last night stretching out!!! I think she will only stunt tonight and walk through the routine. Not sure if they will keep her in the tumbling section for Worlds yet but I do hope so. She was nailing her double full prior to her injury!!!

Anyone going to SpiritFest this weekend in CT? If so...........good luck!!!

Congrats to the Sun's!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Ok guys we have a HUGE National competition this weekend in Tampa, Some of the BEST teams around will be there!!! We could really use some pixie dust!!!!!! :) :)

We cheer on Saturday afternoon in MGM and then again on Sunday in the Milk House. The kids are so excited because they weren't sure if they were going to have the Special Needs teams cheer both days.

We are up against the Kentucky Elite - the group that started Special Needs Cheer. And they are very, very good!

Both days of our competition will be in the Milk House. Just spent the weekend at the Milk House for a dance comeptition for my other daughter. I guess I'm going to be a Milk House expert soon. :lmao:

Has anyone thought about college cheerleading? My cheerleader dd is a senior this year and will go to college in September. She wants to continue to cheer at the college level. She never did All Star cheering, she's only done school cheering, and only since her freshman year...but the schools she's looking at, the cheer teams aren't at a high competition level, so I think she's got a chance.

We are at the RNRR stage both days. It was like a steam bath in there last year. It was also way too small for the the number of spectators. I wish we were at the Milk House.
Good luck to you! We leave in 48 hours.:thumbsup2
