2007-2008 cheer parent thread

Maybe it was day 2. I don't remember any big falls. I don't know about you, but after sitting at a comp for 8hrs, all of the teams seem to jumble together! I just noticed your dd's team because I remembered you mentioning them on here!
Melissa

It must have been day 2 then. You couldn't have missed all the mistakes on day 1 LOL!

Does Cheerworks have a Mini 2 team? I thought my friend from Full House said she saw them compete a few weeks ago...maybe COA or ACDC but they weren't in Providence this weekend.

They have a mini 1 team that decided to try level 2 for a comp. They did well, so I don't know why they didn't stay at 2. I am sure there is a reason..I just don't know it!

Our teams did better than expected last weekend. There were so many great gyms there!

Oh, that's too bad..it'd be nice to have a little more competition in the mini 2 division! 7 teams this weekend was definitely the exception to the rule! There's usually 3 teams at the most in our division. Usually it's pretty much us, EE, Celebrity, Cheer Dynamics and USA Wildcats.

Did you all hear about this?

And here is their initial response to getting caught cheating:

Posted on website

The USASF is the governing body of All Star Cheerleading. They issue age guidelines to follow. We have learned over the years that most gyms
follow these guidelines "roughly", not "exactly"(much like speeding, however, there is a difference between going 105 in a 35 & going 70 in a 65).
We follow these guidelines "roughly" as well. There is no process set in place to regulate registration and confirm that every athlete is registered
correctly by age. Until such a process is set in place to eliminate ALL of the "rough" registration ACROSS THE BOARD, it will continue to be an
issue for everyone involved in this sport.

We had a very successful day at JamFest in Raleigh. As a result, an envious program formed a sort of "task force" dedicated to gathering
personal information on as many of our kids as possible. They then guessed or decided own their own what teams these kids were competing on
and contacted numerous other programs that were attending the upcoming Sweetheart Classic, as well as, the company hosting the event, Spirit
Xpress/All Star Challenge. We received a heads up about the ambush the week of the event from Spirit Xpress/All Star Challenge. This is how
we know who was going above and beyond to cause our program distress. We shifted one team from Youth to Juniors, and this alone eliminated
about half of our "roughly" registered kids. After looking at all the DOB's and forms we had less than 10 out of 130 kids who were "roughly"
registered. Everyone else in our program is registered strictly by USASF age guidelines. Because this envious program had contacted so many
of the programs and provided them A LOT of false information, and very little true information, Spirit Xpress/All Star Challenge felt a lot of
pressure to call us out for our "rough" registration. Instead of sorting it out on a case by case basis, providing proof, and allowing us to dispute
the false information, they decided to take the easy road and disqualify the entire program of 8 teams, instead of only penalizing us for the
admitted two "roughly" registered athletes that took the floor at the Sweetheart Classic. Spirit Xpress/All Star Challenge admitted to us that they
are not naive to the fact that other gyms at the Sweetheart Classic had "roughly" registered kids, and encouraged us to gather personal
information on them as well.

Plain and simple... We got caught "speeding". We were targeted by an envious program and they succeeded in ruining the Sweetheart Classic
for our program. Spirit Xpress/All Star Challenge knew this was their intension, and allowed them to ruin this event for us. In addition, many
programs have been disqualified for violations but the company did not choose to post a press release on their website.

Now What:
Obviously we will no longer register kids "roughly" were they belong, but "exactly" where they belong according to USASF guidelines. We will not
attend the March event with Spirit Xpress/All Star Challenge. We have contacted all the other Cheerleading Companies that we use, and they do
not agree with how Spirit Xpress/All Star Challenge handled this situation and welcome Spirit Xtreme with open arms to all events!

If you have further questions or concerns on this please do not hesitate to contact us directly.
I saw that original reply. I thought it was really sad that they couldn't admit that they were wrong. I read an updated one and it came across much better, but they still weren't apologetic for cheating.

bottom line they Cheated!! What the heck is Rough registration??? That is the point of the level rules!!! It is important for age and level skills!!!

I also read about that team and I was so happy that AllStarChallenge/Xpress Brands stepped up to the plate and disqualified the gym!!! I think it is the responsiblity of any gym owner/coach if they hear a "valid" complaint about an overaged kid then they should report it. We are striving to standardize the sport (yes, I believe it is a sport). If we have cheaters and they get away with it because a gym owner/coach did not want to pay a fine if their complaint was not true than we will always find cheaters!!! (did I ramble????? LOL!)

Well, DD will not be taking the mat in Georgia!! She has removed the 'brady boot' and is just hobbling around!!! She is resting it and doing her exercises and icing etc. It is just a real slow process!!! She is NOT very patient. She is quite sad to not be competing but if she had the choice to compete at Cheersport of Worlds she chooses Worlds!!! She hopes to begin stretching with the team this week and after Cheersport, begin slowly getting back into action. Their comp schedule is somewhat slow after Cheersport until beginning of April. I would hate to see her miss the entire season as she loves it and her team/gym!!

Her team is in Arena F as well. They go on around 7 ish day 1 and 6:30 or so day 2. Lg Sr Unlimited Coed 5.........with some tough competition.

Good luck to that Tumblebeez Lg Youth Level 2.........I have all intention of grabbing myself a cup of coffee and heading over to the arena to cheer them on!!! My DD will just be getting up and we have 2 of her teammates in the romm with us so I rather LEAVE!!! LOL!! Getting ready with teen girls is torture!!! If you see a mom with a "Celebrity" sweat jacket on cheering on the Tumblebeez, please say hello!!!

I am sorry that your DD is not recovering as quickly as she hoped. She will be glad that she took it easy when Worlds comes in April though. Thanks for your support. I will look for you. What color is your Celebrity jacket? We are black and gold. The flu is rampant here. My whole family had it this week, luckily DD was diagnosed before she went to the gym this week so she did not expose the team. I wonder if it will effect the outcome of some teams. I hope we do well. I think our junior coed 3 team will take first. They are incredible!!! The compete around 1:00.

My sweatshirt is a hooded zip up and black. On the back has the Celebrity logo (www.celebritycheer.com) and says Celebrity Cheer in blue and silver!!!

The flu and pneumonia has hit here as well. I am pushing vitamins because I have been exposed too many times!!! Also the stomach bug has hit DD's team!! and that one comes on quick!! quite a few kids have that one!!! it is a 48 hour bug!!! nasty to say the least.

DD just put all her weight on her foot!!!! She is happy (me too!!) but she is still NOT competitng!!!! LOL!! I just washed her uniform and am gathering her practice gear and clothing. I pack all her essential items needed to compete (or watch in this case) separate and she is responsible for the rest of her items (unfortunatley she packs way too much!!!).

see you soon........i am excited to see how Cheersport compares to Dallas!!!

rbuzzotta, Im so sorry your dd will not be able to compete in Georgia :(
But hopefully she will be ok to compete the rest of the season. Tell her to just take the time to enjoy the competition with less stress. :)

Yell for the tumblebeez for me also ok??!!! Im really loud so remember that!!! :) :)

Thanks tnkrbell!!! No problem here being loud!! I will be sending some double pixie dust to the tumblebeez lg youth 2 from both of us!!! I will be rushing out after they compete because our Youth 5 team goes on at noon in another arena!! Anyone know how far apart these arena's are? I am wondering if my DD should bring her "Brady Boot" so she will be more mobile and get around easier (and less risk to her ankle if someone should happen to push/shove/etc.). I am guessing wear sneakers for me?!!!

Thanks for all the support guys!!! I have not been to Cheersport only our small senior 4 went last year and they won their division. I would have her atleast take her support boot. From what I understand, that place is huge. I am wearing sneakers.

Thanks, we can use it. Just an fyi -cheersport is webcasting live in case you are interested. It is like $10 a day. Details are at Cheersport.net.

They did the live webcasting at Worlds last year. It was great for those that could not attend. I am wondering if it will be 'free' after the competition is over like Worlds was!! Any thoughts!

How did everybody's weekend go?

Our special needs team finally got to compete for the first time this year at Jamfest. They did great. We were so excited to see other special needs teams there too. There are now 4 Special Needs Teams in Colorado currently competing. It is so wonderful to see these kids work so hard and their love of the sport and the competition.

The rest of the gym did great too.

Grand champion, class champion, most entertaining routine and everybody won except the Senior Youth 2 (2nd), which was a bit disappointing as they had no deductions. But the other team was phenominal too, so can't be too disappointed.

One more local competition, then on to UCA in WDW! Can't believe it is only 3 and half weeks away.

Hope everybody had a great and successful weekend!

Hey Goofy!!!
That is so awesome about your special needs team!!! I have seen MANY this season!! My favorite moment was being on stage for awards and this special needs team got their award and was leaving the stage and I said GREAT JOB GUYS!! and one of the boys stoped and grabbed my hand and kissed it!!!!! :thumbsup2

Well, the BIG weekend is coming up!!! Cheersport and NCA on the same weekend (again)!!

Just wanted to give a shout out to all the kids striving to become National Champions in their division. For those in the Level 5 Senior divisions, I wish you all the best in getting either a Paid (NCA) or Partial (Cheersport) bid or At Large bid to Worlds 2008!!

My DD is still quite upset about not being able to compete but her therapy is moving along. She is completely out of the 'brady boot' and wearing a brace and finally got a sneaker on!!! She is limping slightly! She is moving in a positive direction. She is hoping to be able to practice again a week after we return from Atlanta!! I hope this happens for her. She just loves her team!

Good luck to those that are competing this weekend. Tumblebeez Lg Youth 2 I will be there cheering you on. Wildcats SmSr 5, you have my cheers as well (get that parital bid along with Celebrity CT sm sr 5)!!!

For those wishing to watch some exciting teams on the web, visit cheersport.net and buy the live coverage!!!! I wish DD was competing so the rest of the family could watch and cheer her on from home. This is such a great idea (and a money maker at that).

Good luck to everyone this weekend!

On a side note...my daughter's team is cursed I swear...someone put a hex on them LOL! They started the season with their strongest flyer breaking her ankle at home on a trampoline, then another one of their flyers had mono and was very sick (out for about 6 weeks), they came back rallied and looked amazing, then we had someone quit right before Athletic Championships in Providence...replaced her and well had a miserable comp! Now, last night we had a girl break not one but BOTH arms doing a standing back handspring. This little girl is an exceptional tumbler...doing tucks, layouts and starting to work on a half at 8 years old. She can do a SBHS in he sleep! It was a total freak accident. Ugh...my heart is broken for her! Now, the team is back at square one with a brand new replacement that has never based before and is at least 3 inches taller than my daughter who is the other base in this stunt group! :headache: Calgone take me away!!!!!

Been away for awhile and am sorry to hear rbuzzotta that your DD will not
be able to cheer this weekend. Better to be safe and keep up w/ theraphy.

DD is getting excited for this weekend and being in Atlanta. Coaches have told the girls that get there early on Friday to go over to the arena and familiarize themselves as it is suppose to be HUGE. DD has to compete in
3 different areanas (Open, Sm Sr5, Sm Sr4). At this competition she has time
in between routines to catch her breath.
Open- 1:07 Arena G
Sr Sm5- 6:57pm Arena H
Sr Sm4- 8:20pm Arena A

Open team is going for a bid to Worlds and Sm Sr5 is hoping for a partial bid
to Worlds.
Good Luck to all the teams that are performing this weekend:cheer2:

Sorry to hear about the bad luck streak Brenda!!! I hate to hear when kids get hurt (especially my own)!!!

The girls may have to work a little harder trying to help out their new teammate. I hope it works out for your DD!!!

Well, off to our last practice before we head south. DD will actually be stretching with her team tonight for the first time in 4 weeks!!! She is so tight right now!!!

Once again.............good luck to all my DIS friends and their kids!!! Bring home those titles, bids and jackets!!!!! I want to hear all the updates in case I can't catch your teams live!!! Stay safe!!!

Cheers!!
