Just got done looking at the Nationl Hurricane center website. Looks like now it's going to turn and hit FL. It has it over the northern east coast on Friday at 2am. It better speed up and get out of the way, the only hurricane I want to hear about is the kind that comes in a cup with an umbrella!
Did power shopping for the cruise last night. 5 formal outfits in 2 hours, still have to get shoes for two of us. I think that might be a record :woohoo:

For a better look at hurricane tracking go to www.wunderground.com. They have one of the best weather sites I have been able to find. Give multiple projections of tracks for hurricanes (they are rather unpredicatable). Since that beast is going to be in the gulf, at worst I have a wet drive from Atlanta and the day the DW and I have on the schedule for Friday.

Three more days until vacation, must stay focused.

Is any one staying in Orlando after the cruise?? I have an entertainment book that will need a good home. It expires in November. Let me know

Thanks for the site, I just looked and now it appears that we are going to have drive right thru it. :furious:

As if the long trip isn't enough, pouring rain is going to cause stress. :sad2:

Lets hope it blows back into the Atlantic by Friday night. :

Looks like Ernesto should be gone by the time we're all on the cruise. Maybe we'll get some leftover rain that first day, but should be perfect after we get going. Don't know much about weather patterns, but that's what the projected path on wunderground looks like to me. Unless hurricanes just stay in one spot and hover. Can't remember what they actually do.

Helicopters hover, weather doesn't. :)

I am already starting to plan the drive based on the worst case. Might have to drive to Jacksonville and then down 95. I would add a couple hours onto the trip.

Holly, you don't need sleep. Doing that reduces the billable hours.

Chuck

OK Holly Im posting again LOL count them up!
Looks like we might be getting Ernesto here in Tampa Bay , told DH no problem I can be packed and we can leave for Canaveral day earlier and stay in hotel, no worries! For pirate night the 5 of us all got red Buccaneers shirts .
I also found another use for Hollys law book, one of my patients couldnt go to sleep last ngiht even after sleeping pill and I thought wow if I only had one of Hollys law books she'd be out like a light! :rotfl2:

Yeah, those books could put anybody to sleep!

You and everybody else driving through the storm, be careful. I hope it's not so strong that it would affect our plane landing since we come in so late anyway. Our airport is so small, there just aren't any earlier flights. There's 1 actually, but it only gets us to MCO 1/2 hour earlier. Bummer. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for everybody to get there on time and you all do the same for us! :wizard:

Ok - now I'm REALLY stressing out. Just checked the latest hurricane information. My DM, DSs, I are flying Wednesday 8:45 AM - arriving in MCO at 10:55 am. (DH flying down on Friday) This will be our first trip flying down (driving to resort) by ourselves and the Ernesto's timing is NOT GOOD.

Kind, calming words would be appreciated!!!!!

Holly,

If I miss it due to work, Happy Birthday!

I will buy you a drink on board the ship in celebration.

Thanks Holly.

It's strange, I've been so focused on the cruise and that it'll miss us, I completely forgot about the fact that it can definitely affect our flight down and our days at WDW prior to the cruise. For some reason the light bulb came on just a few minutes ago  and now I'm worried.

Of course, DH has a totally relaxed attitude about the whole thing - I stress enough for both of us, I guess. :confused3

Unfortuneately this is not truee, storms can and do hover. This one needs to get the heck out of the way before we all need to be on the ship. I'm hoping after it spends some time in Cuba it falls apart. I really don't want it hitting anywhere, but selfishly if it lasts long enough to get to the US, hopefully it goes more west and stays out of our way. These predictions are noturiously unrelaiable this far out. And if the storm slows up and crosses Florida, it could prevent the Magic's return on Saturday and delay our departure. :guilty: I really don't want our 2004 history to repeat itself and put us on a 5 night cruise instead.

I know we'll all keep our fingers crossed that Ernesto gets out of our way and doesn't do a lot of harm anywhere.

I was just the opposite: I was starting to worry about us and everybody else getting to port on time and totally forgot about the possibility of the ship not being able to get back on time for us. Yikes! If that were to happen, would we all have to scramble to find a hotel room somewhere? What exactly would happen?

Ok - just now realized the possibility of us being able to get to port, but not the ship. :guilty: Ok, so let's hear some good news!!!!

The good news is that storm patterns are unpredictable and can change. So in a couple of days, we may have nothing to worry about. Keep fingers and toes crossed! It could definitely go away for us!

Absolutely! I was just watching the weather channel and they have the track going right across Florida. This far our those tracks are very rarely what actually happens. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it blows apart over Cuba.

If the worst happens and the ship is delayed, it will be scramble time. I believe for those who have made their travel arrangements through DCL, either flights will be changed or if for some reason they get us there, they'd put us up. This is one of the main reasons we booked through DCL this time, because of the risks of hurricanes.

Anyone else will have to make their own alternate arrangements. We did this in 2004 when we flew down the day before our scheduled departure, but had to hold up in a hotel for three days as hurricane Jeanne came across Florida. Trip insurance paid us back for that.

I'm trying to keep a positive outlook on this, and keep telling myself that the current track is way to uncertain and we may be in the clear. I know the folks on this week's voyage may be dissappointed that their western got changed to an eastern, but I'm glad the ship isn't going to be stuck in the western caribbean and not be able to get back.

Just another thing to keep in mind, depending on the actual track and where it goes, if the storm crosses northern or north central florida around our departure, they may take the ship to Port Everglades or Miami. So we may have to leave from a different port.

In 2004 Jeanne didn't hover, but it did do circles in the Atlantic just long enough to disrupt our cruise on both ends.

We spent some time on wunderground site this morning looking at the historical paths, it is odd at best!

We have all our fingers crossed and we are going to add slickers to the packing list. :sad2:
