Good morning everyone!!! And, welcome to hurricane season. It officially started yesterday, and low and behold, we have Tropical Storm Barry giving us LOTS of rain!! Thankfully, that's really all that it's bringing is rain, some isolated tornados and not much wind. And, we REALLY needed the rain down here with all of these brush fires!! They're saying that it'll be cleared out by later this afternoon/early evening, thank goodness. I'm just hoping that we keep our power, so we can keep the girls busy since we have to stay inside all day.:scared1:
.

Stay safe
But your weather is still better than below zero temps and mountains of snow

Hi,
This is Deanna! Thanks for all the birthday wishes! I am soooo happy I'm finally a teenager!!!!! Now all I need is the cellphone I keep begging my parents for! (Which I won't be getting according to my mom and dad!)

Deanna

Deanna, you and Walker can commiserate over not having that cell phone together. :upsidedow

Guess what??? When I was 13, cell phones weren't even invented!! :scared1: And.....we had phones that were attached to the wall with a cord. We didn't even have the cordless ones. :crazy2: If we were lucky, we had push buttons and not a dial we had to turn. Imagine the horror! :faint:

I'll slink back to my corner now. :tiptoe: I am glad you enjoyed your birthday. :cake: :)

Stay safe, FL friends! pixiedust:

Yes Cindy - and we didn't have computers and internet access either! Heck, my girls have a computer that they can play on, and I didn't even get a computer until I was about 26!!! :scared1: It's amazing how far technology has come in the past few years!!!

And, it looks like our nasty weather is just about over (but it looks like the bad stuff is heading for Jeff and might even make it over to Cheryl).

Deanna...Krystina wants a cell phone too...I told her when shes old enough to pay for it, she can have it. She complains most of her friends have one, and she doesnt. I told her just because someone else has one, doesnt mean she needs one. I can't believe that 10 and 11 yr olds have cell phones. That is crazy. But I have seen it! Hope your Birthday was a great one!

Amy...Glad to hear you guys are safe...Hope Jeff and Cheryl are safe also. As far as the computers go, My girls know way more than I ever knew. I had a computer in school, but it was one, and the whole class had to share it. I got my 1st computer after I got married, so about 19 or so. And I have taught myself everything I know! My girls have had thier own computer for about 18 months now! Unbelievable the way technology has emerged!

Happy Saturday to everyone! I am at work for a short day, last patient is in chair, and then we are outta here! Have a great weekend! Were doing more remodeling of the kitchen this weekend!

I smiled at the cell phone comments as Matt and I comment all the time that when we have kids they probably are not getting cell phones as early as their friends - we're going to be THOSE parents ;)

I am safe, lot of branches etc on the roads. Guess thats what happens when you live in "the city of trees".

Cheryl

Hi Gang!

We're back from our cruising on Carnival, so I'm doing some catching up between loads of laundry.

Gail and Carol....my deepest sympathies on your loss. Both of my parents are gone now, so I know just how you feel.

Mary....love the video of CJ dancing! I can't wait to be a grandma! (Just about 2 months to go!)

A belated Happy Birthday to Deanna!!

I just want to say that we were not impressed by Carnival. The service was not good, the shows often didn't start until 9:00 or later (the last night's show began at 10:30!!!) and the boat was very rocky. I told Ken I don't think they have very good stabilizers. And of course, there's that whole having to pay for soft drinks thing. Thank goodness Disney figured that one out a long time ago, and I am now looking forward to cruising with them in 2008.

Cindy...I wanted to add that Royal Caribbean is much better than Carnival in our opinion. I think you will have a good time.

How simpler things were not that long ago.

Oh boy, looks like the "fun" season is ahead for you guys, along with Jeff & Cheryl.
Hopefully it can be slightly more uneventfull then prior years.

We are "THOSE" parents too.
Nick asked for a cell phone and I told him he didn't need it. I told him he is always either home, at school, or his grandparents house so why would he need a cell phone!?

Oh, we're going to be one of "those" parents too! My kids do have things like Leapsters and a computer to share, but cell phones will just have to wait!!!

Cameron has one only because he's going to be walking to and from junior high next year. After an incident with a friend walking home from band a couple months back, it's a sense of security for all of us. It's a prepaid one with only minimal minutes, so I have no need to worry about him racking up minutes when he shouldn't. Worse case for him, 30 minutes get used up and he's done. :thumbsup2

I do need to remind him once in a while to charge it up because a cell phone with no battery rates right up there without a cell phone at all.

Walker, OTOH, wants all the "cool" things. I'm sure a prepaid phone to him would be worse than not having one at all. We'll see if he changes his tune when he gets to be a little older. ;)

Mary, sorry Carnival was a let down. Thanksgiving will be our first experience on RCCL but I'm fairly confident we'll enjoy it. For those that don't know, we're sailing with Gail, John & Deanna and they have positive words to say about RCCL. I'm anxioius to compare DCL and RCCL. Personally, I'm hoping we enjoy RCCL just as much as when it comes down to it, RCCL is much more affordable.

Good to hear your doing well, Cheryl & Todd. We had a storm breeze through here a couple of weeks ago, which they claimed was only "wind". We said based on the damage done to the end of our block, it had to be much worse than just wind. I heard from a neighbor yesterday that the National Weather Service decided it was indeed a tornado that ripped through here. :sad2: We knew it was more than just wind. I feel for our neighbors down at the end of the block, as they are having issues with their insurance company. Not only are they having to pay out of pocket to have an uprooted tree removed from their front yard, the back of their house was damaged by another tree and their insurance company is saying that they will only replace 1/2 of the roof. :confused3 How the heck you can replace only 1/2 of a roof is beyond my conprehension and as much as I feel for them, I'm glad it hit at that other end of our block so we don't have to go through the hassles they are dealing with now.

I hope everyone had a great weekend! Two full days of school and then 2 hours on Wednesday & my kids are done for the year. It's going to be a long summer, I can tell that already as Friday was a day off and both boys were "bored" already. :headache:

Hello everyone,

Ted and I were talking about what a fun time we had on our cruise with everyone. He asked me if we are still planning on CP.

OMG! I can't believe it is almost here. We do still hope to meet with everyone for the day. I hope you will all still let us be part of the festivities.

Robin, I saw the lovely Sophia pic you posted. I hope all works out with BF issues.

Gail and Carol, I am sorry for your loss.

Life is happening all right. Looks like kids are growing up and scouting is still progressing.

Diana is going to be a FL resident soon! That is wonderful news.

I hope those vaca plans that are being made are going to be fun!

We've finished with our Cancun week and it's time to get back to basics for a while. Well, almost anyway. Yesterday we took a ride to Niagara Falls, NY for the DIS meet there. It was a fun thing. We drove 3 1/2 hours played for six and came back home after. It was a long day, but we enjoyed for sure.

YES! Most definately!! Everyone is welcome to join us! :dance3:

I received our confirmation the other day for the Breakers Express. It makes it so much more real to have the paper in my hand!

We are in too, but are staying at the Hampton Inn. I think Curt and Karen are there too.

I just saw a commerical for a Disney villians cake challange on the Food Network, next Sunday. I am a sucker for those programs. Once there was one with rice krispy treats. yum:yay: :happytv:

Yay for the papers from Breakers.

DH likes to watch food network. I just told him about th program. I'm supposing he will have it on.
