We are "THOSE" parents too.
Nick asked for a cell phone and I told him he didn't need it. I told him he is always either home, at school, or his grandparents house so why would he need a cell phone!?
Cameron has one only because he's going to be walking to and from junior high next year. After an incident with a friend walking home from band a couple months back, it's a sense of security for all of us. It's a prepaid one with only minimal minutes, so I have no need to worry about him racking up minutes when he shouldn't. Worse case for him, 30 minutes get used up and he's done.
I do need to remind him once in a while to charge it up because a cell phone with no battery rates right up there without a cell phone at all.
Walker, OTOH, wants all the "cool" things. I'm sure a prepaid phone to him would be worse than not having one at all. We'll see if he changes his tune when he gets to be a little older.
Mary, sorry Carnival was a let down. Thanksgiving will be our first experience on
RCCL but I'm fairly confident we'll enjoy it. For those that don't know, we're sailing with Gail, John & Deanna and they have positive words to say about RCCL. I'm anxioius to compare
DCL and RCCL. Personally, I'm hoping we enjoy RCCL just as much as when it comes down to it, RCCL is much more affordable.
Good to hear your doing well, Cheryl & Todd. We had a storm breeze through here a couple of weeks ago, which they claimed was only "wind". We said based on the damage done to the end of our block, it had to be much worse than just wind. I heard from a neighbor yesterday that the National Weather Service decided it was indeed a tornado that ripped through here.

We knew it was more than just wind. I feel for our neighbors down at the end of the block, as they are having issues with their insurance company. Not only are they having to pay out of pocket to have an uprooted tree removed from their front yard, the back of their house was damaged by another tree and their insurance company is saying that they will only replace 1/2 of the roof.

How the heck you can replace only 1/2 of a roof is beyond my conprehension and as much as I feel for them, I'm glad it hit at that other end of our block so we don't have to go through the hassles they are dealing with now.
I hope everyone had a great weekend! Two full days of school and then 2 hours on Wednesday & my kids are done for the year. It's going to be a long summer, I can tell that already as Friday was a day off and both boys were "bored" already.
