Stacy- too funny about the turkeys. I forgot we were all coming over for dinner. :rotfl2: On a serious note - wish you parents a Happy Thanksgiving from me. I miss your dad's posts.

Wow! All those Berwyn ties are a bit frightening! :scared1: I don't know a great deal about Curt's youth. I do know that he went to a Catholic school in Cicero, and that they lived just a few blocks from the school. I'll have to ask him about everything, and let you know what he says. Maybe we will be a part of "The DisBoard Zone"... Just yesterday, I mentioned to him that he should jump into this thread, as well. Maybe now he will.

I had a dream the other night that I got through to MS on call-in day, and secured a cabin then and there. I sure do hope that it was prophetic! :wizard:

Good morning everyone! Sorry I didn't make chat last night. It was a busy day and I just felt wiped at the end of it.

Now that the DVC receptions are over we can talk and not spoil any surprises. We did have a great time. Everyone in our group except for Walker were dressed in our shirts from SSMC05. Mark made buttons for the group saying "we're taking over the Wonder again!" The actual show lasted about 1 1/2 hours. Started with Radio Disney doing lots of silly things to win little prizes (we ended up with a pencil and an antenna topper). There was food set up (fresh fruit, bagels and pasteries) as well as coffee, tea, and water. There was a cash bar where the mini bottles of pop were $5 (got to love the prices at downtown hotels). They also had raffle cards you could fill out.

They also played some games. One was for children and their parents - the child wears a t-shirt and the parent has to fill it with balloons. The next one was for mom's and Cindy got picked. I'll let you tell her about it. :)

After about 20 minutes or so they asked everyone to take their seats. Then a young woman came out to talk. I believe her name was Jennifer. She was the woman who hosted the talk with Jim Lewis on SSMC05. She introduced the DVC sales staff that came up and Ricardo joined her in helping with some DVC trivia. They asked who owned at the different DVC resorts. If you were picked they asked a trivia question to that resort and you won a prize. I won the one from Vero Beach and ended up with a nice picnic blanket. Flannel on one side and plastic on the other.

Then they did a review of the new things at WDW and around DVC. Like Soarin, Lights Action Motor Cars (I think this is when Cameron won his prize - a Goofy alarm clock). They also talked about being able to manage your points online and the new offerings in the collections.

Finally they passed out some more prizes and this time Walker won for being so excited he was standing on his chair! He got a cool DVC travel mug. Finally they did the raffle for the one week trip and then for some Mickey Christmas decorations.

At this point many people left, but to us this was the best part. After taking the picture of Cindy's family with the backdrop we headed to the back of the room where the Marketing team was. It was a chance to talk to them. We thanked them for coming to Chicago. Mark gave them more of the buttons (we had given them a batch for SSMC05) and we talked for about 15 minutes or so about what what we loved about SSMC05 and some suggestions for next year. We did talk about pulling the ship in one day and backing in another. Cindy made a great suggestion of talking about theme nights earlier. We pointed out that even though they did mention them it must have been a little too subtle because the DIS group seemed to be the only ones that dressed up on pirate night.

All in all it was a great day and so nice to have a little bit of DVC in Chicago. Of course the best part was getting to spend time with Cindy and her family. We did tell all the DVC reps that we'd be dialing in on 12/3, but I think our group were the only ones there excited about the cruise. Oh well - makes it easier for us!

I'm not telling.

OMG, I was picked to play a game against another Mom. They had rolls of toilet paper on a pole. All I had to do was unroll it the fastest. Doesn't sound too hard, does it? OMG, it was terrible. That roll spun so fast, I felt like I couldn't get my hands back on it to unroll any more. And, there I was, in front of the group (my least favorite place to be), trying to grab toilet paper out of the air. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Now that I told, Mary can tell what it looked like from her view. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We had a great time and hope they have another event in Chicago again. I know we'll do what we can to be there if they do. :cheer2:

Thanks for filling in the blanks Mary! And, Cindy, that sounds like a fun task - I don't think I would have been able to do it at all! Glad the meeting was fun and I hope they do go around and do more of them - sounds like a great way to keep the members involved.

Sounds like you guys had a GREAT time. Wish I could have been there in my old hometown. Oh well, the weather here in FL right now can't be beat!! :sunny:

We've had a rough weekend. First, Emily was sick all last week and only made it to school on Tuesday. Then, Friday, Madison started to get this same cold. And Saturday, I got it. It starts with a nasty head cold, congested, runny nose. Then, a couple days later, it moves to a nasty cough. That's where Madison is right now, in the cough phase. She was up a lot of the night coughing, I felt SO bad for her. I woke up with a sore throat, so I'm sure that my coughing will start today.

But, the good part is that Emily is back at school now. They have their Thanksgiving potluck lunch today for the families, so that should be fun. We have to remember the video camera, since they have some really cute Thanksgiving songs that they are singing. I have to leave in about an hour to go to see it all with Chris & Madison.

Chris was up until around 3am working on picture CD/DVDs from SSMC05 for some of you. He feels bad that he's been so busy with work and remodeling our bathroom that he hasn't been able to finish them up.

Well, I need to go check on Maddie, she seems just a little too quiet!!!

I forgot to tell you that we missed you in Chat last night - figured maybe all that DVC fun had tired you out or something along those lines. There was only a few of us - just chatting about the upcoming phone call and how we'll be gone for a while from the chat room - I am leaving Friday so I have to get a move on - not packed yet! :moped:

Mary - yeah I was a little bummed about missing chat but was just so wiped.

Cindy did great on her contest. She was just pitted against a woman who must really use a lot of TP and knew how to get it off the roll fast! :rotfl2:

Honestly I think our row had the most fun. The woman from DVC (Jennifer?) said she recognized us from the other member events. Not sure if that is good or bad :rotfl: At least Gary and I weren't taking pictures of each other like at the Jim Lewis speech. Must be because Mark had the camera and was sitting next to Gary.

I think the highlight of the day was when Walker won his gift bag. He was not in the best of moods and didn't want to be there (but wasn't acting up - at least to an outsiders view). When we won the bag however his eyes just lit up. It was so cute!

I really do hope DVC does more of these events at cities all across the US and of course back here in Chicago.

Let's hope the next one is in Michigan - that's close enough to drive especially to go see friends :)

Hi all, was busy over the weekend, but it sounds like you all had fun...

:jumping2:

I would love it if there was something in MI. We would be there. We almost came to Chicago but we had so many thing we wanted to do this weekend. We ended up cleaning the carpet and cleaning out the girls rooms. I think when we were done there was 6 garbage bags full of junk. :confused3 I don't know where it all came from.

We still can't decide what cat room we want to try to get. I just hope we get through on Dec 3.

It sounds like you guys had a great time. Cindy the toilet paper race :rotfl2: pretty cool - now that is something I would have liked to see! Glad to see you guys got some neat prizes!

I mentioned it to John while he was still in Florida and all he said was check into it and let me know. He got home late Tuesday night and had a busy schedule for the next 3 days so I didn't pursue it. Friday afternoon he says - "So what time are we leaving?" Then I had to tell him that I figured since he was gone for 5 days working 12-16 hours a day, I didn't think he would be up for a 5 hour drive to Chicago - hmmm next time I'll just book the trip!!!! :goodvibes

Jennifer was the CM's name who did the Jim Lewis interview on the cruise as well as the host for the reception on Saturday. But, I just need to clarify one thing. Out of all the people sitting there, it was Mary that Jennifer made the comment about seeing at other member events.

And, we did have the most fun. We were also the only group there who had sailed on the SSMC05. Hopefully, the only group from Saturday who will sail on SSMC06! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Do you really think so? I thought she was talking about the whole group. So i guess I need to try and be more quiet and shy at these events. Right like that would happen. :rotfl2:

You didn't get that idea? It was when she selected you to answer the question about Vero Beach that she commented about you being at member events in the past.

Don't worry, next time she'll remember me as the toilet paper roller lady. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Too bad the tag fairy isn't around for that comment. That could make a VERY interesting tag!!! :rotfl2:

Oh Mary. (I Must BITE MY Tongue HARD not to comment about bringing TPRolls for you at the debarcation party...
