They pick you up at your resort/or the airport. It depends on which resort you are staying at. I think it was around 10:00 AM from where we were staying on '03, we got to the port at around 11:30. They will tell you when you book. If you are on a flight, they will tell you when you need to arrive and you will go straight from the airport. Figure between 9:00-11:00 am, but that is just a guess from poor memory. For the real number, call Member Services on Monday... the 800 number) and the routing is 3,2,1. You will get a DVC Cruise Trained agent who can answer many of your questions.

As far as other transport, I found that the Taxi break-even point is 3 people, but DW and I prefer a Taxi to Meirs (or the free Disney busses). We usually arrive late, the busses usually take a while to fill up, and are usually very full. With the Taxi, we are the only stop...

:jumping:

I can't believe that we have only 2 weeks left. (I think other people would think we are crazy to be this excited to be on the phone all day Sat to spend thousands of dollars that we won't be using until Oct. :rotfl2: )

We rented a car from Budget for less than it would have cost for transfers and it worked really well. We were able to get to the port when we wanted and could make any stops too. The rental place is only a few min away from the port and they had busses taking you there. It was really easy. I would recommend that to anyone. It was really nice to be one of the first people on the ship and eating lunch at Topsiders while watching the busses still dropping off people.

AnnMarie, how did you and tom go back? We are thinking of using Disney Transport back to the airport...

:jumping2:

We rented a car both ways. Our flight didn't leave until 7:30 so we went to downtown Disney and to Beaches and Cream. It was much better than sitting in the airport all day.

How was the party? Are you still sane, or as sane as you were before the party? BTW, just curious what you did with the helium and 4/5 year olds???:rotfl2:

Welcome to everyone who is joining in. We are going to have a blast! :cheer2: :cheer2:

PLUS Today is the first day of the Chicago DVC Event at the Fairmont! I cant wait to hear about it. We are going tomorrow..... Cant wait!!! LOL

Guess what, Laura? We're not telling!! You just going to have to wait and see what it's like yourself. Mary & I decided we don't want to ruin any surprises for anyone going tomorrow.

For the rest of you, I'll post a recap of the event tomorrow afternoon. I'm sure the others who go down tomorrow will have some pleasant things to add.

I read the other thread, so I know the at least some of the surprises... but I have sooooooooo many questions....

Did you win the trip??? :wave2:

I wanted to add that the other post I read said they were no kid drinks and soda was $5.00... a few danish.... Was only coffee served??? I need to know what provisions to pack for the gang.

And anyone valet?

Okay, I'll give you this. You do have little kids that you need to prepare for.

There was water and cups w/lids provided for the little ones. You might want to pack something for them to drink. Cameron bought a bottle of coke, Gary asking for the change from his $5 bill, and Cameron said there wasn't any. :earseek: Yep, $5 for a bottle of pop. Not even a full size bottle at that.

My boys had no problem filling up on all that was offered. Yummy fresh fruit which is a nice healthy snack. In fact, both of my kids ate enough for it to be considered a brunch for them.

I read the other thread over on the DVC planning board. Please don't get discouraged by it. We had a wonderful time and hope to do it again. Even my 10 year old enjoyed it. My 5 year old got a little bored but was hungry enough to eat his way through it. :rotfl2:

Here are a couple of pictures from today.

We met up with Mark (MarkRG) and Mary (wdwlvr) in the lobby. Here they are along with myself and my two children Cameron & Walker.

This we took after the event. We're thinking it might become our Christmas card picture this year.

Love the pictures guys! Looks like you had a great time!

Cindy, that will make an awesome Christmas card!

We had a great time and it was extra fun sharing it with Cindy, Gary and the kids. We even got to see some of the DVC CM's that were on the cruise with us!

Cindy, I agree about the Christmas card picture! That's a great picture!!! :teeth:

You know, I'm already jealous of the folks that live in the Chicago area - You didn't need to add DVC parties on top of everything else! It's a wonderful city! My husband grew up in Berwyn, and I keep asking him if he wants to move back. Relive his youth and all that good stuff... :rolleyes1

Mary, thanks for settin' me straight on the cruise entertainment. Guess that was my "Duh" for the day.

Karen

Karen - no problem. I was talking about it on a DVC cruise thread. Easy to see why you thought it was on the DVC cruise we saw her.

Tell your DH that I grew up in Oak Park which is right next door to Berwyn. It really is a small, small world.

I just realized that if we could have had Walker stand next to Cameron we would have looked like one of those ads for cell phones (you know the 5 bars in a row all getting taller. :)

Just noticed and can't resist!

Woo Hoo - #1000 and we haven't even had booking day yet!
