I layed down and watched Lost again with DH because I have to explain to him every single thing in the show since he decided not to watch most of the first season.....now I'm wide awake again!

So, of course, what else could you do but catch up here.

See, it's your own fault. If you had waited until morning, you wouldn't have known.

I know too soon!

For those staying @ WDW before/after cruise what is the best method to get to Port Canaveral and back?

Looking for the Veteran Member Cruisers for this answer! ;)

For SSMC05, we drove to Port Canaveral and parked our rental car in their lot. Althought it didn't turn out to be the best plan, when we had to dock in Ft. Lauderdale, it did work out fine.

That's what we will probably do again.

I live in Toronto where french is not spoken that much. All gov't offices etc must offer it as we are considered a bilingual country. Montreal and for that matter all of Quebec has french as their first language and do to politics (I won't even go there) they have laws about only having signs in french and that if english is even allowed it can only be a certain size etc. I learned french in school so it is not my mother tongue. To be fair, my husband's family is polish and he can speak that and I am really lost--I can make sure I get what I like to eat and a beer and that is about it. Toronto is very multicultural--we are areas of the city that are mini-cities--Chinatown, Greektown, Portuguese town etc and at times, you may not find someone in those shops in those areas of town that actually speak english--a lot of pointing and charades goes on ( I have done it in Chinatown so I know) to get what you want.

we're finally home. took us almost 2 hours to make the 30 minute trip. multiple accidents along the way, we almost slipped off the road multiple times. and some moron sped by us, skidding and did doughnuts in front of us before going backwards down a huge embankment.

so....is there a chart of who got in? i gave you time to get it done!

p.s. NARNIA IS AWESOME. See it!

Karen, glad you are home safe. :goodvibes

As for the chart, didn't you see that PM. We decided since you were not going, that was a good task for you so that you could feel included.

It's morning now, is it done yet?

I'm just kidding so no one thinks there's a copy that could be passed around.

Hi everybody,

I'll be sailing this time in 7629 by myself. Casey can't miss a week of school and her dad is taking her on a Royal Caribbean cruise sometime next year on their new boat. She's a little bummeed about it but she's more upset about missing MNSSHP. My friends who were thinking about it never got back to me so I called them and they said they'd tell me tomorrow. If they want to go I'll get on the waitlist.

Welcome to the new cruisers, I was a new cruiser last time. I was a little nervous about where everything was on the ship, how dining worked, different activities, etc. I shouldn't have been because the people in this thread were so helpful with their advice. One thing I learned and put to practice was at dinner (or any meal) you can order as many of any item as you can eat. On pirate night they had these great drumstick appetizers and I ordered three of them. I didn't order soup or salad but had them instead. Also, if you don't want dessert order "nothing", you'll be surprised at what you get.

Of course I'll be filming as much as I can. I plan on finally watching the videos of the last cruise this week, then I can record the DVD, make copies and send them out.

Copper3

Hi Jeff,

It's funny you mention pirate night. What I remember most about that dinner was the crab cakes. Pirate night was by far my favorite meal on the entire cruise. :cool1: :cool1: I look forward to it again -- already!! :teeth:

Hey everyone, we're off to WDW for a couple days (we'll be back tomorrow afternoon). But, I wanted to say that for those that got involved in SSMC05 with our post-cruise DVD/CD project. Chris is thinking that we can do it again after SSMC06.

Here's what we did, but I think a lot of people got left out because they didn't post back to our thread after the cruise. We had everyone that was interested send us a CD of all of their cruise pictures. Then, Chris compiled them all, sized them all about the same, and then created either a DVD or CDs of everyone's pictures and sent them out to those that sent in their pictures. I was amazed to see everyone's pictures because I saw SO many things that I missed on the ship. It really was cool.

Anyway, the SSMC05 cruisers that were involved just got their picture DVD/CDs last week, so they can attest that we had almost 4000 pictures and that was only for about 14 people. So, if might be interested, remember to come back to the thread AFTER the cruise, because we'll talk about it and see if we can do it again.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:   :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

This really was awesome. It's great to look at our own pictures from the cruise but then adding everyone elses, it's even better.

I plan to someday use many in my scrapbooks too!! :cool1:

Hurray, it will be great to do it again after SSMC06!!!

Have fun at WDW Amy & Chris!

Look at that!! :3dglasses

A possible pre-cruise meet.

Several of us met before the cruise, because through this thread, we found that we lived close by others. It was a nice opprotunity!

Hope you all can make it.

Ok, since DVC will be celebrating 15 years............

What kind of special events do you Vets figure they will have for us!?!

plus..........

Are they really going to offer FREE Transfers to the Ship? I have already rented a vehicle but I was informed that parking will be $12.00 a day at port! That takes away from Konk Koolers!

TIA

I'd only take a free transfer if they offer to let me park our car at BWV till we get back. We'll have our own car, not a rental.

For anyone who may have missed it.......I already received several PM's and have your information noted.

For everyone who is interested and has EARLY seating for dinner, I am going to coordinate with DCL to link our reservations together so that we can hopefully be seated together and in close proximity to everyone else in the group.

Here's what I need to know from everyone.

  • Last Name
  • confirmation #
  • cabin #
  • how many in your group
  • who would you like to sit with?
  • first choice for dining partners
  • second choice for dining partners
  • third choice for dining partners

Please PM me the information. I don't need it all right now. In fact, if you would prefer, all I need to know is that you might be interested. Nothing is written in stone and is always open for change.

We have several months for us to develop friendships and decide where we think we'll fit in best. But, I just thought I would throw this information out there for anyone to read. I'll also be giving Mark & Mary something to add to their website.

I will post the list of early diners occassionally throughout the upcoming weeks/months. When I do, I'll add any new people to the list.
Let's hope this works!!!!

We are going to have an AWESOME cruise !!!!!

If Dan was the bus driver, they couldn't pay me $1 million to ride on that bus!!! OK, maybe $1 milion, but I won't take a penny less! :rotfl2:

I'll have to ask MS on Monday if they will allow us to leave our vehicles at wherever we are staying.

thanks

Janet - where did you hear about FREE transfers to the ship? I know they offer free transfers from the airport to the resorts now but haven't heard about anything free going to Port Canaveral.

Mary, I read it in one of the posts on this thread. Can't remember who posted but they mentioned that they would not take it again 'cause the shrimp was all eaten!LOL

I'll try to find it........be back in a couple of hours!LOL

Poor Dan. He gets picked on in this thread almost as much as you do, Diana. ;)

Dan, Mrs.Lips. I wonder if these people know they have a following. Who else can't I think of that keeps getting mentioned? I'm sure there are others I'm not thinking of right now.

Diana mentioned about taking the transfers because her daughters were free and it was more economical that way. I believe they still had to pay for her and Bruce.

I... think Janet might have that mixed up.

This is what Disney offers, far as I know:

Disney's Magical Express (free) from Orlando International Airport to the resorts and back.

DCL Transfers (charge per person - don't remember how much), from the airport and resorts to the Cruise line and back.

If DVC is bringing up something I must have missed it.
