Believe me, this party was no easy task, especially since Sandy did no traveling for business after the cruise. I planned everything from work or from my car on the cell phone! Stressed doesn't even come close to describing the last week before the party! I didn't sleep at all the night before - I had a nightmare that he came back from his mother's house BEFORE all the guests came! Getting the food in the house was very difficult - I ended up turning on the waist-high frig that no one took to college this year and sneaking it in there since it's in the garage. All the party goods were in DD car until I was able to sneak them in when he left the house. My friends were incredible - the kids made the salads and stuff at one of the houses. My friends and kids were waiting in the dead-end for Sandy to leave the house. Then, when he did, they all rushed to the house and we had 45 minutes to set up everything! It was like a shopping spree getting it all set up. Buying the movie tickets really threw him off, though. The theatre manager was so nice to exchange them for us. He thought it was so funny he couldn't help but laugh. Anyway, Sandy was really surprised and had a wonderful time. I love parties - my kids' friends say I make the best ones! And, thanks to the pre-cruise party, I was able to get green M&M's since Sandy is convinced that they don't have any calories!
The most stress I had was getting the contractor to put up the new mirror in our new bathroom. It's a long story, but I had to sue the first contractor when he screwed up the first bathroom. Consumer Protection was my advocate, who brought felony charges against him! So, when the new contractor came to demolish the newly finished awful bathroom, they broke my mirror. It took some time to get a new one, but when it did come, the contractor kept putting me off. All I wanted was for it to be up the party. When I threatened file a complaint against him, they showed up Friday morning unannounced to put it up!
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. BTW, the "free" turkey I got for spending $300 was from our local supermarket - I buy $300 worth of groceries at one time when everyone is home, so it was no big deal.
On Friday I went shopping, too, and I shopped all day! My email address used to be "luv2shop" when we were on AOL, but I had to change it when we went to optonline. I bought towels for all of the bathrooms in our house (3) and new sheets for our bed. Then I went shopping for clothes and did quite well.
It was wonderful having the family home for the weekend, even though they are messy! Kids - what would I be without them!!
Enjoy all of your preparations for the holidays. We are getting ready for Chanukah, but Sandy will be traveling for most of it, so we will give out presents when he gets back.
