gometros said:I've learned accommodations can be made. On one of our 7-day cruises, we were at a table of 8. It was a retangular table and the couples that sat at either end would get frustrated at not being able to hear all the conversation. So we asked Sid, our matre d' if he could get us a round table. He did the next best thing and found us an oval table.
I'd be willing to bet that table of 18 was a retangular table. Sometimes I think smaller tables are more conduscive toward socialization.
You can link as many together as you desire through DCL, but the LARGEST pre-set table is the rectangular table which seats 14. It is table #23.
Once on board, accomodations most always are made or your servers or dining room managers will put tables together to accomodate.
I agree with you on socializing. When we are at the table of 14, we rotate every night so we can visit with each other. On the 11 night, they put two tables together and we ended up being a group of 12. The tables were much more narrow and it was next to impossible to carry on a conversation with the other end of the table. Also, Ivana had an extremely hard time serving us. Once the tables were squished together she couldn't get between us and the tables behind us. Good thing she was tiny. Once I sat down, I couldn't get up until after dinner when the table behind us cleared out.
(I know it is NOT because we ate too much at dinner each night)
