What are you all wearing for dress up night? I usually wear dress Capri's with a sweater set or a skirt with a nice shirt for dinner. Then DH and kids wear khakis and golf shirts. Will they need a button down dress shirt? Will I need a nice dress? Thanks for any help here.

My kids wore khakis & polo type golf shirts last cruise. No problems. In fact, I'm thinking that's what Cameron's going to be wearing again this year for most dinners.

On the subject of dressing for dinner. Mark did dockers and polo shirts for the last Member Cruise (except for pirate night). This year we are doing t-shirts for pirates night but he'll most likely be in polo shirts or a tropical shirt for the other nights.

There's always some people that really dress up and some people that really dress down. Most people dress exactly the way you are describing, but no matter what you won't feel out of place.

I agree with Diana.

Dressing for dinner was one of the big things I stressed about last year. Being our first cruise, I didn't want to make a mistake and not dress appropriately. As it turned out, I hardly noticed what anyone else was wearing and I never felt out of place. I wore capris, my DH & kids wore the khakis (Dockers).

You will be surprised as to how many people chose to not dress up at all for dinner. And, on the opposite end, there are several who seem to enjoy dressing up as well.

Congrats to all who have gotten their prints and docs. Nothing here but hopefully today!

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Tip Of The Day

We're all going to have fun in the sun right? So don't forget the sunscreen! The sun is stronger down in the Bahamas than it is where most of us live. On sea days it can be even stronger if ou are out by the pool the cool breeze from the ship moving and the water makes you forget how strong the sun is.

Here's the tip - try the new spray on sunscreens. Especially for the ladies and girls who get their hair braided. Put sunscreen in those rows or you'll be in for a very red, very painful experience! Remember that part of the scalp doesn't see the sun too often.

Don't forget other often over-looked places like your ears and the top of your feet. Protect yourself and you can have fun at play and not be in pain the next day!

Can I just add a bit to your tip Mary? The spray sunscreens work like a dream and I can't see myself using anything else, BUT make sure the spray sunscreens say "NO RUB" on them!! Coppertone is no rub.....Banana Boat isn't. Trust me, once you start using no rub, you do not want to have to rub that stuff in, especially if you are paying extra for the spray kind!

Now Mary has given me an idea--I didn't get my hair braided last year for the first time---maybe I should! :scratchin I always love it because it's super easy to maintain. But then I'd be the Fairy Godmother with cornrows? :confused3

How old are Cameron and Nick again? I didn't realize I could give David some of these priviledges like the beeper and going to the pool. This may be a dumb question but how and when do we use the beeper and is it used on the island too? :confused3

We were given a beeper to keep for the duration of the cruise when we checked the kids into the kids clubs. I believe it was one beeper and they were able to send us messages letting us know what was going on with the kids.

One night, the beeper went off and the message said Cameron had just left the club. Right after, it went off again, saying Walker wanted to get picked up. Yep, it was dinner time, they only time my kids didn't want to stay in the club/lab.

Cameron will be 12 on Sunday. Last year, we gave him check in/check out priviledges and allowed him to check himself out but he always had to return to the cabin. We didn't have any problems, but part of our decision was that we knew Cameron would do as we told him to do --- no stopping for anything along the way.

Not that I want my child to have the run of the ship, but being the pools are 3' & 4' and small, I'm thinking Cameron couldn't get into much trouble having the choice to go to the pool this year.

Too bad we aren't still at your table too. Ken owns his own business and would happily join in!

My attitude is this....if there is someone who is looking at me and doesn't like the way I'm dressed, then they really NEED a DCL vacation....apparently they are way to stressed to even relax, have fun, laugh, and enjoy their OWN family.

I don't show up to dinner looking like a slob, but I err on the side of casual.
(on a 7 day cruise my "formal" dress is a black knit dress from LLBean if that says anything!) :)

FWIW, Cindy, I can't remember you wearing clothes to dinner last year :lmao: :lmao:

I completely agree with Diana! I accidently bought the Banana Boat stuff and didn't like that I had to rub it all in. I was just in Target the other day and picked up 2 bottles of the Coppertone (no rub) spray sunscreen.

Oh, I'm very certain you would have noticed if hadn't!   Even in the other dining room, you would have heard the shrills of people screaming at the sight.

Would those be the coppertone in the blue areosol cans? It's the sport version or is there a different one?

I love that stuff but for whatever reason, both my kids tell me it stings on them.

There, I think I fixed my siggy....checking it out (helping your post count)

Karen's just letting you know that you may think you can pull the wool over her eyes! ;)

Good Morning to all!

Jacqui, my heart goes out to you. The loss of a pet is so painful. Remember the fun times you had and how happy he/she was in the great home you provided. We had to put our dog down. It was the hardest thing I've ever done, but she was in pain, even though she didn't want to show it. :grouphug:

Diana, hugs to you too. Mopsey was only 7, but boy, what a full 7 years she gave us. You will know when the time is right for all. Enjoy Penny. I'm sure she is special and precious. :grouphug:

They do make the sport in the can, but there are other varieties too. I've heard of it stinging. My kids don't complain. :confused3 They also make the "Coppertone Kids" in aerosol, maybe that won't sting them?
