Nick wanted me to post on the DIS that one of his butterflies has died. We ordered the caterpillar's, watched them form chysalisses (sp?) and hatch from those. They've been butterflies for over a week now and one died today.

Nick is very very tenderhearted and he's pretty upset about it (read as crying and sobbing) I heard him tell KT "I prayed to God that they wouldn't die." :( :( :(

And then he came up to me and said "will you let them know on the DIS that one of the butterflies died." With as straight a face as possible I told him I would.

So I'm keeping my word. :)

Give Nick my condolences on his loss. I bet there's a beautiful butterfly garden right up in heaven. :butterfly

Note to Mom: Getting sensitive kids a pet with an average life span of a week is a no-no! I suggest letting them roam the praries of Ohio before your house suffers from any more losses. ;)

...Anyway---I was thinking ladies---sorry boys, not to specifically exclude you, but I am ;) Do we want to have a little bachelorette celebration for our friend Julie's last single days? Nothing spectacular, nothing long lasting, just a few minutes, just a drink, or two, or however many to celebrate maybe after the show one night? Maybe we can get Captain Henry to do a little dance for us? :lmao:
Party? Ohboyohboyohboy! Is that going to be bachelorette on one side and bachelor on the other? If anyone sees Henry dancing, I think you need to be escorted to your doorway.

Diana, if you're glad you didn't get to have the new kitty AND a new apartment, then I am.

Jeff, wow on those catch up posts. You are amazing.

I don't think I will get caught up much past this point.

I managed to find something I can wear for pirate night! I am happy with that. Ordered the shirt that was posted for DH and it came today. He likes it. That's his pirate night wear! One thing checked, a million more to go.

:cool1:

Yoo hoo---Stacy----Looks like the tag fairy has come to visit you!! :wizard:

Congrats on the new tag!!

Now I need to look and see if anyone else got one.

I'll let you know if I hear anything. :listen:

And, of course, I'll pass that along with a middle of the night phone call. :lmao:

By the way, Julie, I'm sure Matt might be able to con Cameron out of his seat at dinner with a bag of Sterzings. We only have 1 bag left and I'm fairly certain they will be gone by tonight.

For those of you who haven't tried Julie's families potato chips, they are awesome (we ordered some)!!! :dance3: I see a road trip to Iowa in our future. :dance3:

Oh I am glad you all like them! I was afraid to ask for fear that you really did hide them and then Gary would be on to us!:rotfl:

Seriously, I never knew that butterflies didn't live very long until we went to the Butterfly Conservatory in Key West last year. See--you do learn stuff while cruising! But the lady explained to us how every morning before they open they go around and scour the place picking up all the dead butterflies because some live for only 2 days while some live for 2 weeks, most live an average of 7 days. Now in comparison, we were at the Butterfly Museum in Hershey Gardens this summer and they didn't have the same practice because there were dead butterflies all over the place. :scared: Or maybe the butterfly mortician called in sick that day.

I guess certain species can live for up to a year though--so if you're gonna get a pet--find out what kind that is first!

Nick, Sorry for your loss.
IF you plan a trip to southern New Jersey in September of next year you could see the butterflies resting here as part of their migration. My DH and I were taking a walk this afternoon and on one bush there were at least 50 butterflies resting up for the trip. Then we looked out in the ocean there were hundreds of dolphins jumping and playing. I love this place.
If you need a deal on a room, let me know, I have an in with the manager of a hotel (DH).

Chris

I keep forgetting
:cool1: Congrats on 100 posts!! :cool1:

Would you believe when I joined the SSMC05 thread I had like 300 posts! Well, I guess knowing me now, it's not too hard to believe.

Where in Jersey are you? We had a house in Ortley Beach when I was younger.

It's officially unofficial. :confused3 :rotfl: Bruce talked to his boss about wanting to leave this winter and they played "Let's Make a Deal" so it's officially May '08 and Andy will hook him up with his FL contacts, whatever that is. Our choices are Jacksonville, Bradenton or Orlando working for Universal--not sure how that's going to go over in our Disney house. We do get killer Universal discounts, but we haven't used them because we're always cruising and visiting the Mouse!

Diana - this is great news for you. I would love to live in the Bradenton or Orlando area. Now, if I can just find a job . . . . DVC are you listening?

They're knocking me out to do it. 3 of the 4 are impacted. I'm required to have a driver that will be there throughout (read as: Cheryl). I have to pop 4 amoxicillian one hour before surgery... fun because I'm not supposed to eat/drink so those will be dry swallowed. Then I'll get Vicodin for afterward. Though to be honest I've had plenty of broken bones (even my collar bone) and I've had stitches without even a local, so I'll only take the vics if the pain is severe.

:wave2: Todd. Years ago (in a previous lifetime) I had all four of my wisdom teeth :teeth: extracted - it was not

a bad experience. Although two had to be chisled out. What was :cool2: was when the

hooked me up to an IV and the doctor told me to count backwards from 100 - I don't think I got off of 99 1/2 before everything went black. "A short time later", the

was back in the room yelling at me to wake up. I think it took her four or five visits before she threatened me - and not with bread! I left the office (with assistance) comfortably numb and with my mouth packed with cotton. I slept off the rest of the day.

Yes. Good point. :) This is the first time we've done them so late in the year. Usually we do them mid-summer and it's ok to let them go. Now with the nights so chilly, Nick wanted to keep them inside. He was hoping they'd lay eggs on the thistle we cut.

He actually cried more for this butterfly than he did when we had to get rid of the dog. :earseek:

And, unfortunately, this wasn't his favorite of the three butterflies. :earseek:

We've talked about it. We're going to put his little body right at the base of the butterfly bush out front. That way he can fertilize the bush for the wild butterflies. He learned all about the carbon cycle, so this is a familiar concept to him.

Thanks, Mary. That just made me smile. :) Been a long week here. I think the long days and rehearsals at night helped fuel the emotional instability to a degree. WHAT? It's only Wednesday. Still a lot of week left. :(
