Now that we're getitng docs, guess it's time for....

DCL Luggage Tag 101

You will have recieved in your docs tags for your luggage. There are some guidelines. The thing with the tags is timing.

Disney is setup to automatically take luggage with tags to the ship from Orlando International Airport.

Going to the ship

IF you're flying in the day of sailing and going directly to the ship. Yes you want to tag any luggage that you want Disney to transfer for you before even checking it with your airline at home. They will pull it before it even arrives at the carousel to pick up.

Now, if you're flying in early you don't want to use these tags until you're going directly to the port. Disney may pull them right along with other cruisers and go to the ship without you. You will instead be giving over these bags to helpful porters who'll load them in bins to be brought onboard the ship when you arrive at the terminal. Might want to think about tipping these guys, they hustle and live on your tips.

Leaving the ship

On the last night of the cruise, you'll recieve in your stateroom other tags to put on all your checked luggage. Remove the old tag and put these on, then put them outside your stateroom door when you go for dinner. They will be collected and be waiting for you in the terminal when you disembark.
There will be extra tags available in bins by guest services if you need more, or want some for scrapbooking. Another important thing, bring some address labels for envelopes to put on these tags, simplifies the process.

OK so what are the chances---we have exactly 0 points left for 2006 and 6 whole points for 2007! :lmao:

NO WAY - now that's a TZ moment for sure!

LOL Karen I'm the sports fan in our home so while Matt enjoys a good beverage he could care less if sports are on the TV.

That's funny because in our house it's the same way. He likes to go to the Yankee games with me because they have cold beer and my dad watches the girls for the day. :lmao:

This is probably 50-100% rumor, but a thread on the other DCL forum suggested an October 1st announcement about the next DVC resort to open. Along with the date, someone "in the know" paraphrased a member of the construction team who said this new DVC resort is a pirate-themed resort to be built on the former Discovery Island (the island in the middle of the lake behind the Contemporary). Lastly, the resort is supposed to be a luxury resort, with a very small number of rooms.
(Please don't quote me...I had just finished reading 60+ other posts, so I may have reached "brain freeze" stage by the time I saw the above post.)
If the announcement is made, we'll certainly have something to talk about during Sunday night's chat!

Press event is Thursday (Oct 5) I believe for the new celebration so perhaps we'll hear then?

BTW - I'm still catching up!

When I was out in DL last month, I stopped and chatted with lots of the DVC desks about numerous rumors and I even stopped by the building they have behind the DL hotel where they house the DVC models. I was told that Jim Lewis was there and there were some big meetings going on about upcoming announcements to be made in October so I guess something is going to be announced. Couldn't really find out anymore than that.

Ooh I read that they had all the big execs from Fla out to Cali to see how some of the rides have been updated/improved etc.... so I Hope they do some of that too!

Wishes cruise 8:00 pm

I think the promenade lounge would be a great place to meet Thursday morning for the bus back. Meet right after breakfast and start heading off the ship by 9:00 or so. The bus is supposed to pick us up by 9:30 am. This would give people time to eat, get off the ship, get their luggage and meet at the bus pick up area (to be determined).

As someone not taking the bus I love this :rotfl: as that means we might have just a few less people to fight our way through to get to the luggage and car and the good ole marriage license ;)

Ok, let me preface this by saying that you guys could have already come up with something, but what about 6 or 6:30pm, since a lot of us are eating at LTT around 4:30pm and the actual party doesn't start until 7pm. Then, we can meet, talk and be ready for the party at 7pm.
6 sounds good to me

Mary, thank you for answering my question about the time for the group photo. I knew you would know the answer. I hope it is taken before we have to leave for our stingray excursion.

We're on the 10:30 excursion with several DISers so I know we all hope it's early or I guess we will enjoy the photo with all of you :) in it!

Hi all. Just back from the 11 night on the Wonder and it was awesome. Now at WDW till Sunday.

The changes in dry dock are going to be awesome. Can't wait to get back on in 3 weeks!

Talked to Ducky the last night of the cruise. He said we are NOT getting a litho on the member cruise. He does have something special that DVC had him too, and he said this is not something for our "wall" to hang. Wouldn't tell me anything else except that he was thrilled with the outcome and loved creating this new "gift" for us!

See everyone soon. Once I get back to work next week, I'll start checking the member thread.

HI LINDA!!!

Looking forward to seeing you in 3 weeks

Thanks for sharing about Ducky. :artist: I'm sure our surprise will be FANTASTIC!

Everyone, as we shared earlier, we heard there are great surprises coming for this cruise! The last Member Newsletter was right... pack something extra to carry home your goodies! YIPPEE!!! :Pinkbounc

Got my Dis Member Cruise documents today..

They sent 2 luggage tags-do you tag your "carry-on"?

Only tag the ones you are going to hand off at the terminal - the rest can stay with you :)

There must be someone out there that has been to Palo and left a tip. How musch are people tipping at Palo? Anyone?

I think we tipped an extra $20 last year but am not 100% sure - could have been a bit more.
