That was the response from my one friend yesterday - aren't you afraid they will be serial killers. I informed her I met people on a cruise meets thread on a Disney message board - not some chat room for swingers! :lmao:

My dd is doing interviews at grad schools (she just flew to Arizona today) When she makes her appoints for a school, she'll ask "So do you have any friends in this state?" I told her I'll go with her for her interview at Univ of Florida - not as close to WDW as I'd like to be, but it's closer than being here!

My kids response is "You spent alot of time telling us about some of the evil people on the internet, but you have no problems meeting people and cruising with them. :rotfl: They just don't get it.

Good morning Member Cruisers
- we sail in 14 days!

13 days until the pre-cruise DIS meet in the Solarium at Beach Club!

party:

Two weeks from today we sail!
Remember you can get a copy of the navigator on the web site!

It seems like just yesterday that we were strategizing for call in day. Now the trip is so close! I still have a lot to do but can't wait for October 21 to get here. Work has been extremely stressful and I need a vacation. I'm still working on the 2007 budget but am not motivated to do any more today!

Whenever I get totally stressed out at work, I stand up outside of my cubicle and practice my :wave2: while smiling and saying "See you real soon!" and "Have a nice day" Everyone in my row :lmao: because I told them that I'm practicing to be a greeter at the MK. You know when the park is getting ready to close and the CMs stand near the exit and say, "See you real SOON!" I've decided that would be a great job to have - no stress!

Well the other day, my boss (senior vp of the department) caught me "practicing" for my new job! He had a perplexed look on his face and asked me what I was doing so I told him! He just shook his head and walked away. I guess he didn't appreciate my sense of humor! :rotfl2: When we met later that day I reminded him that I will be on vacation from the 21st through the 30th and that my blackberry and work laptop would be staying in MA this trip. His only comment was I better come back! :rotfl2:

Okay - back to work!! :teeth:

Here's a few more tips for the soft serve (which is now at Goofy's Galley which is in the place of Scoops).

1) Grab a cup from the drink station and fill it part way up with soft serve. Go back to the drink station and add Coke for a Coke float. Sorry no root beer at the drink station. Thanks to Karen (ohiomnnie) for this one.

2) Grab a couple of cookies from the buffet. Put some soft serve on one and the other cookie on top. Instant ice cream sandwhich! Thanks to Jim (Scuba Diver from the blabbermouths) for this one.

Great ideas! I'll have to remember those for this trip. We did spend alot of time at Scoops last month, and since they aren't huge cones it's easy to eat it all before most of it melts away.

Also, Scoops is being changed during dry dock. There are no longer nuts of any kind at Scoops.

If you must have nuts on your ice cream (like my DH), take a small ziplock to breakfast with you the first day. You can get almonds and walnuts at the buffet and use them for your ice cream.

DH just can't have his bowl of ice cream in the afternoon without nuts!

Thanks for this tip. I don't like nuts (I'm crazy enough) but Tom will appreciate this! :lmao:

When we were on the Magic in May they only had small cups for the ice cream - no cones. Many of the teens used the cups from the drink station for their ice cream alone. The only toppings were chocolate or carmel syrup.

Goofy's Galley did have a great selection of sandwhiches and fruit at lunch and some great pastries (including Stollen bread) in the mornings.

:cool1: Stacy, congrats on post #21000! :cool1:

:Pinkbounc Amy, congrats on reply #21000! :Pinkbounc

I went and bought the dvd the first day it was available. And I don't even have kids yet. I love it. I can remember thinking of the songs years later in HS and college when I was stumped on tests.
Yeah, I remember doing that, too.

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Tip Of The Day

You don't have to be a child to eat like one!

DCL has some wonderful food and some very decadant desserts, but sometimes you just want something simple and classic. For a quick meal on the go check out the chicken fingers from Pluto's up on deck 9 by the Mickey Pool.

Don't hesitate to ask your server for a Mickey Bar for dessert (off the kid's menu). They will be happy to deliver it to you. It comes in a bowl, covered with sprinkles! We find them to be a much better quality than the ones in the parks.

I've also heard you can order Mickey Bars from room service - now that is decadant :mickeybar

A very Yummy tip of the day!!

Whew! I'm finally caught up. Yesterday was a crazy day and I was so wiped I fell asleep at 7 pm (which is why I'm now up posting at midnight) :)

The plan was to meet some old friends from High School for lunch and a house tour. We do this every year usually back in my old neighborhood with a showcase house. They weren't doing it this year so one of the women suggest a museum house north of me. One of the women couldn't make it so there would just be three of us. The plan was to meet at 11:30. Should work out fine to be home in time for dinner with the in-laws (more on that later). We get home from grocery shopping and there is a message on the machine from my friend Karen saying they will be running late and won't get there until 12 because she has to drop her daughter off somewhere first. So I call her back and say fine but the tour hours are 1 pm and 3 pm and I don't think we'll make the first and I really can't stay for the second. But we agree to meet for lunch and then they will go on to the museum on their own. No big deal.

I had some errands to run for the cruise (needed new ink cartirdges, envelopes and labels for the button/navigator packets). Was able to stop at a Best Buy before lunch but only go the ink cartridges. So I get to the resturant at 11:58. No sign of them, not a surprise as Karen is always late. It is a nice day, there is a bench outside, I sit and wait. At 12:30 still no sign so I call Mark to see if he heard from them. Nope! They finally show up at 12:45! Now I love both of these women dearly but they both still live in the 1950's. No cell phones, no cable tv, one doesn't even drive! I won't even bother trying to explain the looks I get from them when I try and explain the DIS and this group!!!!!! Still we have an enjoyable lunch and I'm back headed home after running the last of my errands.

I get home to find Mark has talked to MIL and FIL and informed them we are going out to eat (can't cook here as the dining room table is full of travel stuff and thought FIL deserved better than just pizza for his birthday dinner). Haven't heard from BIL yet. Mark thinks to check his work e-mail and sure enough there is an e-mail from BIL saying they will be over at 5 but need to leave by 7. I suggest that he call BIL and tell them to meet us at the resturant. He tries to call but there is no answer at the house and the cell goes right into voice mail. MIL and FIL show up and inform us that BIL and his wife won't be coming as they don't like where we are going to eat. :confused3 Ok the whole reason we waited until this weeked was because they were out of town last weekend and FIL's birthday was this past Thursday.

So off we go for a nice meal at Macaroni Grill which I knew my MIL would now hate because her baby boy said he didn't like it. Got some major major guilt over dinner about our trip and how much MIL wishes she was coming with us. They are instead going out to CA to see her Brother. They also asked us what our plans are for next year. We kept mum about Hawaii and said we were just waiting to see what DVC had to offer (which is the truth). The one really good thing that came out of the evening is that since they get back from CA two days before we leave for WDW they gave us our anniversary present last night. Actually we will get it on the cruise as they (along with BIL and his wife) gave us a room credit. Nice! Of course even then MIL had to bring up during dinner that when she called the girl on the phone said "It's been a while since you sailed with us". Yep they haven't sailed on DCL since we all went in 2003.

So not has crazy a day as Cindy had but still exausting. I'm heading back to bed now. Sunday will be Mass, lots of laundry, updating my packing spreadsheet and generally getting things ready for the trip. I can't wait for our road trip and to see all of you!

Oh I think we have all been there before. I feel your pain.
What is it with in-laws, is there some unwritten rule that they are required to drive you nuts!? :confused3

I loved watching that little rolled up piece of paper sing!
Yeah, but every time I hear it now - thanks to David - I get another picture in my mind. Something about our 42nd president

At least you didn't chicken out. When we went on our DCL cruise out of LA last year I did. I had a posted a bit but mainly lurked like I do here. I walked past the meeting DIS group at least six times and never worked up the courage to go up and introduce myself. I hope to do better this trip.
We'll hunt you down, or at least camp out by your cabin door, if you try that this time. ;)

Yeah, and it should be covered by our health insurance. Maybe a $20 co-pay. :)

I could see it now.
"But my doctor said I need to relax!!!! What do you mean my $20 co-pay won't get me on the ship!"

Sounds like a pretty hectic day. Can you imagine the guilt trip you'll get when they find out about the Hawaii trip. I vote for telling them when you get back. :teeth:

I agree with Gail.
Hey it's your life and your vacation, no body said it's required to take the in-laws just because you married their child.
