I think that should have been a heftier fine but that's just my opinion. It kills my how some people can be so aloof about the safety of a child.

This is slighty off topic but still having to do with children. Nick's class is doing a campout next week and I'm chaperoning. Well I went to an informational meeting the other day about it and the teacher in charge says they have tents for most everyone to sleep in and their will be an adult/teacher in the tent with the kids.
Well that was a big red flag for me. Maybe I've been in Cub/Boy Scouts to long but that is not done at all. The adults NEVER sleep in a tent with a child unless it is their own and even then they encourage the kids to sleep together for the kids to be independent.
So I decided to call the teacher and let him know I will be bringing my own tent and I'm not comfortable sleeping in a tent with someone else child. He replies that he has had some parents say they were happy an adult is going to be in the tent with their child. Ok whatever but not me.
I mention that it just takes one child to say he/she touched me and their could be big problems, his theory was that there will be other kids in the tent to back up the story if anything happens! I felt like saying are you kidding me!
He then mentions this summer adventure program he runs and says he has high school and college kids in the tents with the younger kids and never had a problem. I was glad to hear he never had a problem but I don't think Nick will ever be doing that over the summer. We'll just stick with scouts thanks.

Sorry that was long...off my soapbox now...thanks for listening!

How is this NOT against school policy????? WOW, Stacy I totally agree with you and think that the teacher is setting themself up for a bad experience down the road.

Amy have a great time today...how can you not :thumbsup2

So FIVE weeks, eh? Yeah I'm soooo ready!

Scrapbooking question...if I want to put modpodge type stuff over my paint can to make it shiny and so the pieces stick down better, how do I avoid getting brush streaks? Do the foam brushes leave marks or bubbles?

Well it's off to the Grand Canyon this am. And I'm planning on watching Amazing Race tonight. I loved the first Survivor this past Thursday. Loving Survivor so far. I picked the winning team. Having it race based in the
beginning is very interesting to me. I think it will put some stereotypes to rest. The only thing I didn't like is that Hispanics, Asians and Blacks have some cultural similarities. Whites really isn't a cultural group that way, racial yes but not cultural. So it's not really good that way. The
white tribe is a very sad one I think. It will be interesting to see how it all
pans out. In the end it won't matter much because it's one on one but in the beginning I think the more solidarity in the culture the stronger the group will be. I know alot of you watch BB, do any of you watch Survivor or AR?
Ok, it's late, we're back from WDW and I'm exhausted. But, of course, I had to check the DIS before heading to bed. I'm not sure that I'll get through all 7 pages that you guys left me today, but I'll at least start.

Ilene, I definitely watch AR & Survivor. Those 2 shows are actually my favorite reality shows.

Note to self!
Make sure Karen sits in the MIDDLE of the back seat when we drive from WDW to post in October!

I have no reason to be but I am a nervous rider with anyone but my parents (hello I am in my 30s) and Matt if I am in the front seat. Even with Matt he says that I have this "spider move" where I splay my arms and legs out to steady myself.... lol I don't think it's that bad.

If you could I'd like you all to keep a dear friend of a DISer in your thoughts. Some friends of mine from the Dec. 2004 and May 2006 cruise are traveling together on the 11 day cruise that just left today. They are calling it the Mom's Escape cruise. 3 of the ladies are DISers, one other the wife of a DISer and the 5th is a good friend of one of the DISers. Sharon, the friend, got some tragic news after she boarded the ship. Her sister had just died. So she had to make arrangements to leave the ship and fly back to her home in AZ. The other 4 ladies are continuing on without her. Please keep Sharon and her family in your thoughts.

Has anyone gone fishing at WDW? :fish:
We went fishing a few years ago. Of course, the girls caught the most fish! Except for me, that is...I caught a measly ONE fish! :fish: We left from the dock near VWL. The funniest thing that happened was that as we were returning to the dock, the motor on our boat died. Our fishing guide radioed for another boat, and we all got into THAT boat, went about 50 yards, and then the motor on the SECOND boat died!! I guess it's true that "third times a charm" because the third boat we got on made it safely back to the dock!

The secret is out....
For those of you chat declined/impaired DisSers, the Challenge is this....

Several months ago, Karen and I were watching a movie and came across the a spot in the movie that would make the PERFECT door sign. I really like it and wanted to share it before the cruise. Now to say that I have really enjoyed my time here on this board is one of the bigger understatments I can make. I wanted to make this a little special so I came up with the idea of making a contest out of revealing the sign. But on retrospect I though it would be too easy, so following the advise of Mary the Mod I broke the pic into 16 frames. On even numbered days I will remove another box revealing another frame.

The Challenge: Identify the movie from which the frame was captured.

The Rules:

(1) The pic will be posted on even numbered days sometime before NOON. 16 frames X every other day = 32 days. SOMEBODY should be able to figure this sucker out by then! Several DisSers have expressed interest but are prohibited from checking in at work so I MIGHT post it early, just depends if I am working or awake....

(2) NO HINTS

(3) First DisSer to post the CORRECT answer wins.

(4) This aint rocket science....

The Prize: A Conch Kooler - or comparable like grog on me. Defination of comparable? Remember I am a simple, honest public servant. Dom will NOT be joining this party.

Karen thinks I'm nuts - but I'm having a blast planning this little thing. Mary has the Navigators, Amy has her tidbits, and now I have my little bit of fun.

Enjoy

Thanks Curt!!!!

How sad that people don't realize the impact an accident can have on their children. :furious: I've had parents tell me that their child fights them to get in the carseat. I've gone through it myself when Cameron was about 2. But...then that amazing vehicle knew exactly what NOT to do. It just doesn't start until everyone is buckled up.
Oh, we've had those moments with both girls. They arch their backs, so it's next to impossible to get them strapped in, and they are screaming all the way. But, I never give in, and keep holding my ground until they were strapped all the way in.

Emily moved to a booster with a regular belt a few months ago, and we had LONG discussions about how she could NOT play with that seatbelt, and that it had to stay buckled until the car was completely stopped.

You should see Karen on bridges. Thank god there is a tunnel into Canada from here and don't even mention the time we drove over the Mackinaw Bridge:scared1: .

The other thing you have to just roll about is since I have a certain driving style:drive: that carries over from my employment, Karen doesn't like riding with me. I have a Ford Ranger, the door handle on the passenger side is so loose it rattles. She's taken to sitting on her hands now :scared::eek::crazy2::faint:
It's these little quirks in life you gotta love!!
Oh, I'm with Karen, I hate bridges. But, not all bridges, just the ones with metal structures above me. I don't know why, but I can't stand those types of bridges. We have LOTS of bridges here in Tampa/St. Pete, and I drive them all the time over the bay into Tampa, or over the Sunshine Skyway to Bradenton. But, I get the creeps with any bridge that has a structure over me.

Is anyone else on the Ghiradelli email list? I just got an email from them and it had a coupon for $1 any specialty sundae, through 10/31. If anyone wants one, let me know.
I'll take one if it's not too late! I've always wanted to try one of their sundaes!

Ok, the clock on my computer just turned to 11pm. So, I'm off to bed. I've gotten to the top of 1104, so I still have some reading (& responding) to do in the morning.

Chris is on his way tomorrow to Boston for 5 days, so it'll be just me and the girls until Friday around here.

How about a weekend GTKYFKK question. Just out of curiosity and to see if there are any other "twilight zone" moments.

What is the street number of your house? :listen:

Our is 1437.

I know for certain that there is one other person on our cruise with the same exact street number in their address. How weird is that???

I'm curious to see if, by chance, there are any other duplicates.
Ours is 631.
