Some friends of mine from the Dec. 2004 and May 2006 cruise are traveling together on the 11 day cruise that just left today. They are calling it the Mom's Escape cruise. 3 of the ladies are DISers, one other the wife of a DISer and the 5th is a good friend of one of the DISers. Sharon, the friend, got some tragic news after she boarded the ship. Her sister had just died. So she had to make arrangements to leave the ship and fly back to her home in AZ. The other 4 ladies are continuing on without her. Please keep Sharon and her family in your thoughts.

I tried to get him a Jack Sparrow costume at the Disney Store but was told that they sold out just about the same day they came in (this was weeks ago) well guess my surprise when I walked into the Disney store today to get my litho of the Little Mermaid that they were out of when I pre-ordered it and there was a whole wall of Jack Sparrow costumes, wigs etc.
So for a surprise for DS, I picked one up. It was a bit pricey $49.50 CDN plus the wig but I figure he can wear it on the cruise for Pirate Night, MNSSHP, at school for Halloween and then out trick or treating.
He will be so surprised. Also found out that you can start to pre-order the Cars Movie in October and it will also come with a free lithograph.

For those of you chat declined/impaired DisSers, the Challenge is this....
Several months ago, Karen and I were watching a movie and came across the a spot in the movie that would make the PERFECT door sign. I really like it and wanted to share it before the cruise. Now to say that I have really enjoyed my time here on this board is one of the bigger understatments I can make. I wanted to make this a little special so I came up with the idea of making a contest out of revealing the sign. But on retrospect I though it would be too easy, so following the advise of Mary the Mod I broke the pic into 16 frames. On even numbered days I will remove another box revealing another frame.
The Challenge: Identify the movie from which the frame was captured.
The Rules:
(1) The pic will be posted on even numbered days sometime before NOON. 16 frames X every other day = 32 days. SOMEBODY should be able to figure this sucker out by then! Several DisSers have expressed interest but are prohibited from checking in at work so I MIGHT post it early, just depends if I am working or awake....
(2) NO HINTS
(3) First DisSer to post the CORRECT answer wins.
(4) This aint rocket science....
The Prize: A Conch Kooler - or comparable like grog on me. Defination of comparable? Remember I am a simple, honest public servant. Dom will NOT be joining this party.
Karen thinks I'm nuts - but I'm having a blast planning this little thing. Mary has the Navigators, Amy has her tidbits, and now I have my little bit of fun.
Enjoy

Another participant. Julie, have you said before that you were joining us and I missed it, or am I just showing my age.![]()

How sad that people don't realize the impact an accident can have on their children.I've had parents tell me that their child fights them to get in the carseat. I've gone through it myself when Cameron was about 2. But...then that amazing vehicle knew exactly what NOT to do. It just doesn't start until everyone is buckled up.
Two summers ago, I was driving down the road with my daycare, going about 45-50 miles an hour. Walker says, "Mom, Justin unbuckled". I could not believe my ears. I immediately pulled over and strapped him back in. He was in one of the booster seats which used the regular seat belt to strap them in. No more. When we got home, I changed it out to be the booster seat which is permanently strapped into the seat and the kids use the 5 point harness to strap in, because I knew he couldn't do that to me again.
That night, when his Mom picked him up, I told her what happened, thinking that I'd forwarn her to watch he didn't do that same thing to her. Know what she told me, that he did it to her about a week prior but she never thought he'd do it to me.![]()
I couldn't believe that she didn't mention it to me.
That little boy sat in the 5 point harness until the day he left my daycare, and still now, when he comes to play with Walker, he sits in the 5 point if we go in the car.
I just don't take chances. Period.
I also once knew a daycare provider who when I said lets go have our carseats installed professionally told me that she "didn't want to know" if they were not installed correctly. Okay, whatever.I hope someones child doesn't suffer from your stupid thought process.
I have had fire fighters tell me that the thought of rolling up to my vehicle if it's ever in an accident is a frightening one to them. Being it's lettered as a daycare vehicle, they tell me they hope my kids are 1. strapped in, 2. strapped in correctly, and 3. all okay. I hope I never see that day.
