Alrightly, we're back from the company picnic. You can't even call it a picnic because it was a fair. There were 9000 people there. There were at least 15 carnival rides, probably 6 or 7 bounce bounce things. A whole entire row of carnival games (like throw the ring on the bottle and launch the frog into the lillypad) that were free to play with prizes. Bands, facepainting, caricatures, more food and snacks and drinks anyone could ever eat. The blackhawk helicopter was SO cool and the girls sat in it. We stood and watched it take off and it was so cool. There were all sorts of police/fire/military displays. It was amazing. It ended with them passing out litterally tens of thousands of glow necklaces and a 25 minute fireworks display. Now, usually I watch a fireworks display and say <yawn> I wish I was at Disney, but seriously, with the exception of the music (it was showtunes, I like showtunes, but it's not Disney music) this was just as good as Wishes. It was absolutely amazing for a company picnic firework display. I guess now that GE doesn't sponsor Illuminations anymore, they had some extra cash to spend on a one time display. :rotfl:

What a wonderful picnic!!!

:rotfl2: wonder if he'd respond. We did send one to Mr. Mickey Mouse and Ms. Minnie Mouse in hopes to receive a letter of congratulations. We also sent one to the President and First Lady.

If you have an extra invite, I'd totally do it. Enclose a hand written note saying how much his music means to you guys. What's the worst that can happen--you never hear anything? Maybe he'll send you guys a gift!

What fun!!! I bet the girls are going to sleep well tonight.

This sounds like what Household use to do for their company picnic. Sadly, two years ago they stopped doing it as a cost cutting measure. Our kids STILL ask when we are going to Housefest --- doesn't look like it's going to happen again in the near future. :(

Does the White House still send out those letters? We have one from when we were married as well as when the kids were born. But, I sent a letter when my Mom & Gary's Mom both turned 80 (which I read was the age they acknowledged birthdays) and neither one of them received a card.

Maybe I did it wrong and the secret service has truly been watching us ever since. :scared:

Julie, I'm with Diana.....you have nothing to lose. Wouldn't that be a great keepsake??

All right ladies be gentle now....................Coleen and I went to Micheals and used our friends and family 25% off coupon tonight. AND I bought an
8 x 8 mickey album to use for the CJ. So as long as no ones makes too much fun of the pages I do I will participate!.

We sent one to the President, and did get a note of congratulations. I still have yet to put it in my wedding scrapbook (because of course, it's not done). But, it's still cool.

We would NEVER made fun of anything you did. Besides, I've seen some of your work, and it's great!! I was thinking about getting an 8x8 Mickey album too. But, I haven't decided yet.

Diana Lyn,
The picnic sounds amazing. GE huh, are they hiring, LOL!

I'm like that mickey 8x8 also (saw it last time I was in there) but don't know if I can make the time commitment to do a CJ with my new job on the horizon and all those hours. I may just use the altered paint can to store some pictures and memorys this time.

Had a great time in the Flagstaff area today. Went to Sunset Crater National Park. The lava flow fields are amazing. Off to the Grand Canyon tomorrow am. :thumbsup2

Well, those of you who have met us know that we have our Dragons that go everywhere with us. They were kind of like our kids before we had Ian.

If you want to see one of our trips with one of them, check out this link... Be warned, there is music... and he isn't flat
http://bachosaurus.com/nephosaurus_engagements.htm

This was actually the trip I proposed to Robin on, so you will find those details hidden about too.

GE here used to do this every year. I guess they did it when Bruce first started working there but we weren't married and didn't have kids--I guess we were too cool for family day? :confused3 Then I guess the last two years they haven't done it because all they did those two years was layoffs. Now I guess business is back up.

Ilene--sadly GE isn't hiring. They haven't hired in about 4 years. They shuffle around people alot and if a position opens and they need an outside person to fill it they hire directly from the Navy site that's up here.

Great news on the girls meet.

I'm sure you are a lot happier about the Michigan/Notre Dame score than I am. :)

We watched part of that game (after Mike and KT got home from the OSU game) and Mike said "Notre Dame is ranked number two in one of the polls." So I said "which one?" He said "I think it's the pope's poll." :lmao:

So I said "who did he rank as #1?"

The answer? Of course............ "OHIO STATE!" :lmao: :lmao:

I did not request a letter from the President because, let's just say, I'm not a fan. :sad2: I did however request the birth recognition letter for both the girls figuring they may appreciate it in the future. I will make sure they know I wasn't a fan though! :lmao: Sorry Texans!

I didn't request a letter either, because, sadly, I didn't know you could. Although, both of my kids were born during a former president's reign and, let's just say, I wasn't a fan.... :lmao:

But can I request them NOW? From the current president? :lmao:

Dear President Bush,
I'd like to announce the birth of my daughter TWELVE + years ago!!! :lmao:

How about a weekend GTKYFKK question. Just out of curiosity and to see if there are any other "twilight zone" moments.

What is the street number of your house?

Ours is #25

The girls will probably sleep in late tomorrow!

They did in 2000 - but recently I have read that there are so many requests that they don't get to all of them.
