I took a ride into town when I went to Walmart. The town is packed with newsvans and people watching and National Guard people helping out. I drove over the bridge that goes over this river and it was amazing. There's a huge island in the middle that you can't even see anymore. There's just water everywhere and crap floating down the river--tables, boats, big barrels. At the restaurant place, where you would go up to order food, the water has to be at least waist high. It's very sad.

Very sad. Diana, how far from home is this happening? How far from Stacy?

I went back to the surgeon today for a follow up check. He said everything looked fine and gave me a clean bill of health and a plastic bag with about 50 little gall stones :rotfl2: He told me that's my souvenier from the surgery.

Yikes!! 50!! Holy cow, Gail! Good thing they are out of there now! ::yes::

We have a video around here some place of when I had a laparoscopy done. I didn't want to look at it but it was a requirement of the doctor we were seeing when trying to get pregnant. So, I sat there, with the video going -- looking at the wall the entire time. ;) I'm not sure the doctor ever knew that I didn't really "see" it but it really wasn't of any interest to me.

Gary, on the other hand, thought it was great and would have preferred to see it first hand instead of a video.

Stacy lives about 15 miles East of me, this river is about 2-3 miles South of me.

I'm having serious packing issues and now I need to go shopping. I hate shopping under stress. I only have 4 pairs of shorts that fit me and need at least 2 more pairs. I don't know why I didn't think about it before.

I also didn't think about starting the laundry first and now I'm waiting on that to get going. I'm afraid I'm pretty good at this procrastination bit. I've never done it before, I hope I can get away from the habit! :rotfl2:

We're leaving Saturday morning to go up north for a week. I did get the wash started but that's as far as I have gotten. I did go to Target on Sunday to get some things, but got tired and came home. Now I need to go back and get the rest of the stuff. Good thing this is a do nothing trip - a week of no phone or tv - now that's roughing it!

I can live without the phone, I'm really not a phone person. I NEVER talk on the phone, I'm so bad that I have a prepaid cell phone that for $100 gets me 1000 minutes and a years service. If I have a "chatty" year I use maybe 250 minutes and then I renew for $100 get another 1000 minutes to add to my already existing 750 and continue the cycle. I think I have close to 2000 on this phone now and it's up in December. :sad2:

Now without TV, they'd have to institutionalize me. :happytv:

Not to keep you from your packing and errands (;) ) but what kind of prepaid phone do you have? I'm not really a phone person either (although I know we've talked on the phone since the cruise :teeth: ) but I have to have a phone to carry with me just in case something happens with the kids. But...I pay a lot more than $100 a year and I suspect I don't use anywhere near 1000 minutes. Especially since I won't be calling the school every morning to have them come out and get Walker for me as he's taking the bus come fall (that used up a whopping 3 minutes a week :rotfl: ).

So, anyway, maybe I should look into these -- but I've heard the reception isn't the best. Of course, I don't know why I even worry, my cingular reception is the pits already.

Now that's what I need. I gave up my cell phone a couple of years ago, when I got laid off from my job. I just didn't use it much, and I couldn't justify $50/month when I made only a couple of calls a month. So, each phone call was technically costing me $10-$20 each.

Anyway, Chris has been hounding me about getting a cell phone again. But, I still have a problem with it, when I really don't need it. He just thinks that I need to have it with the girls. So, maybe I need a prepaid cell phone. What kind is yours, Diana?

I hardly ever take the mail out of the mailbox but I did today.

We received a postcard from Cameron. :teeth:

It's been a long week here without him and I suspect he's having a tough time being gone so long. Cameron only wrote 5 sentences --- 2 of which were I miss you (even Walker). :sad1: That could explain why we haven't received the promised phone call from the troop leader. :worried:

Two more days, two more days. :bitelip:

Cindy - that's wonderful! I am sure he's having a fun time - no worries Mom :). As a former camper and camp counselor (where is spellcheck when I need it) I can tell you that if we let a camper talk to mom or dad and they were homesick it got worse from there. I bet they are having so much fun they dont' have time to call. Hang in there - just two more days :cool1:

You can do it, Cindy! You can do it!!! I'm sure that he's homesick, but that he's having fun too!!! I remember my days of camp at Lake Geneva, and I remember missing home, but having too much fun too!!!

I'm anxious to see how he reacts when we see him on Saturday. And, whether or not he has intentions of returning next summer. Cameron doesn't know it but the break from WDW that Gary is needing just might be summer camp with Boy Scouts next year. It depends on how Cameron feels about going back -- if he wants to go back, hands down, no questions asked, then Gary may or may not go with him. But, if he wants to go back but not alone, that might be a good option for both Gary & Cameron.

You know me so well, Julie........I'm sitting here worrying more now. I thought the weather cleared up where he is, that we were over the hurdle. Now I'm not so sure.

Two more days. :wizard:

Aww huge hugs Cindy! I know it's hard, especially with your first born, but I assure you if something were wrong you would get to talk to him or they would have called you. Soundsl ike a great plan for Gary and Cameron to go together if they want to - how much fun is that???

Maybe you could send some weather down here, it's hot and no rain so we're dry again.

OK, OK--man, see what happens when I actually go and pack! Well, there was an "incident" too. The dog kept following me up and down the stairs as I was packing and she fell down about 8 steps. I really thought this was it. She seems ok now. She's going to be boarded at the vet the week we're away, so I'm glad in case anything happens. She seems kinda out of it lately. I think she's going senile because if I feel down the 3 steps every time I had to go outside, I wouldn't even attempt to go up the flight of 12 to the upstairs.

My phone now is T-Mobile To Go, I've had it for about 2 years. I love it. The phone was like $50 and like I said, I paid $100 for 1000 whenever/wherever minutes. They don't charge extra to roam or for long distance. You can buy prepaid cards and add on more minutes anytime. You also don't have to pay the $100, I do that to get a years service. If you buy a $10 card, it will give you 30 or 60 days service but then you have to redeem another card before that time or else you have no phone and lose the minutes. $100 is a good way for me not to have to remember to redeem more cards.

Before TMobile, I had Tracfone for like 4 years. I was always happy with them, but they charged 2 minutes for each 1 minute of long distance/roaming at the time (not sure if they've changed). It seemed like I used my phone more while I was away and it burned through the minutes more quickly. I want to say I got like 500 minutes for $100 and one year of service through them. Still a great deal for a piece of mind phone, which is pretty much all I use it for.

I've never had any problems with getting a signal or bad reception. Bruce has a Nextel phone through work and he's always doing the "Can you hear me now" bit, and that doesn't happen with me. We live very close to an Air National Guard base and his phone gets a lot of interference from that, mine doesn't. It must be where the towers are set up around here.

When you get into some prepaid plans (I've researched many of them) alot (cingular, virgin, verizon) have a flat 10 cent/minute rate where you put like $50 on account and then it deducts like a debit card. That was just too much for me to keep track of and having more money deduct from my account. I wanted the brainless approach. :lmao:

There's also a ton of threads over on the Budget Board about prepaid cell phones. Remember, the budget board isn't just for people on a Budget! Yesterday it was fashion advice, today is cell phones---it should be called consumer information board!:lmao: I think they're an awesome idea for kids so they have a phone for emergencies and don't feel the urge to chat away 1000 minutes a month on it. Any more questions? :teacher:

Bruce is home and I'm going to Old Navy to see if I can get me some smaller shorts. I really never thought losing weight would make it harder for me to shop, but it really has. I really don't know the first thing about shopping in non-plus sized stores and feel so intimidated every time I walk into a store that I've just walked by all these years. For years I've had like 2 choices of where to buy my clothes and now, I really don't even know where to start--it's either WAY too trendy or WAY too not-trendy. I need to find a 30 something who wants to dress like a 20 something year old store. :lmao:

OOh I love Old Navy! Congrats on the size loss Diana - when you find that store will you let me know? The only thing I don't want is my booty hanging out the bottom of my outfit.

Sounds like our house. Both my kids are on every 6 month opthalmologist appointments too! (although dd was going every 3 months there for awhile)

Seems glaucoma is HUGE in dh's family (i.e. nearly EVERYONE has it) Mine are 9 and 11 and aleady have high pressures (normal is teens, KT's were as high as 27 and 33) Right now we're still in the watching phase as all of their testing (visual fields, retinal imaging, etc) is still normal.

DD's right eye is lazy (runs in family). Anyway, she started going to the Opthalmologist since she was 9 months old. She had eye surgery when she was 5 and we go in every 6 months (eye still wonders). Anyway, we don't have to go back for a year!:cheer2: No major changes but nothing that can be corrected either. Vision is 20/20. No news is good news :goodvibes
