Not counting Disney in any way (including DCL) what has been your most memorable vacation? Our week trip to Myrtle Beach in July 2001. It was my parents 50th Anniversary and all my sisters, brother and their families stayed in condo's on the beach. The kids still talk about that trip as being one of the best!

In honor or Gail - how many times have you been to the hospital? Wow, I feel so special! I had some hospital stays when I was around 3 but I don't remember them. My others were 1 for tonsils at age 21 (ouch), 4 other times for C-sections and Last Night.

Do you have any regular summer outings you take? (Family reunion, festivals, etc.) Each 4th of July we spend the week at cabins up near the Mackinac Bridge. John's family has been going there for the past 30 years. His parents and some aunts/uncles go up with us.

Do you have AP's to Disney? Yes, purchased with the DVC Discount

Do you have a DDE card? Yes

How do you capture your vacation memories: Film, Digital, Video? Digital. We do take the video for the "first time" vacations, but the rest is all Digital.

Diana the new picture of Emma & Julia is really cute.

As for my day...arrived at hosp at 11:30 got through registration/papers, went to dr's office, got through paperwork. Finally saw Dr. who wanted to
admit me but I told him seeing as I've been living with this pain for like 3 weeks already I didn't think it was necessary. He ordered a CT scan as I was in too much pain for the MRI and I will have to go back tomorrow for a EMG. The CT scan took only 4min compared to 35 for an MRI!!! I did take one percoset which did nothing very little for the pain, it just made me sleepy.
To be continued tomorrow I guess. Thanks for the prayers/concern everyone.

Ilene pixiedust: and prayers to you.

Curt: Which Westin in Chicago were you at? Was it good?

Cheryl,

Nice location, no pool (that kinda stunk), $13.00 for 24 hrs of internet (that REALLY stunk) but there are businesses and residences in the next building over with WiFi that allows the savvy to jump onto the net.

All in all I would say that it was "typical" for a hotel on the Magnificent Mile. Very nice - but your gonna pay!

Hope this helps.

The picture from the Chicago mini DIS meet was neat. The meets are fun especially when you get to meet new people that you will be cruising with. Glad you all had a good time!

I can't believe how close we are to 10,000 posts!!

So sorry to hear all this sad news! This is an order for so many: :grouphug:

Gail - I hope everything works out on Wednesday. pixiedust:

Ilene - I hope you are feeling better soon and have good news at your next doctor appointment tomorrow. pixiedust:

Ann Marie - glad you were able to get Jimmy Buffett tickets. Can you believe how quickly these concerts sell out? :cool1:

Amy - I love the pictures! We watched a little girl at the boutique when we were at WDW in May. It makes me wish I had a little girl! princess:

Mary - I'm so sorry to hear about Tigger. :grouphug:

Curt & Karen - I'm so sorry to hear about Pudge We lost our Princess to lymphoma in 2000 and even though we got another cat who we love dearly, nothing will ever replace our Princess. :grouphug:

Not counting Disney in any way (including DCL) what has been your most memorable vacation? 1997 USA Hockey Trip to Colorado Springs, CO. Tom had to attend meetings during the day but we did get some time to go sight-seeing. I'd love to go back there again one day.

In honor or Gail - how many times have you been to the hospital? At least 11 overnight stays since I was born.

Do you have any regular summer outings you take? Not really anymore. We used to go to NH every summer but we haven't done that in a long time. We always have a family and friends summer bbq in August.

Do you have AP's to Disney? YES!

Do you have a DDE card? Well - sort of. It expires at the end of June but I'm not renewing it.

How do you capture your vacation memories: Film, Digital, Video? It varies. We have a lot on film, some on video and a few on digital but going forward just about everything will be digital.

I actually feel really good. Of course, I will be 4 days without food (only liquids) so I'm sure in that time I could waste away to nothing :rotfl2:

Off to take the dog to the groomers.

Gail - I'm glad to see you up and about - I'll be keeping good thoughts for you with your surgery. Take care of yourself!

Hey all... Good Luck Gail...

must wake up... need coffee..

:figment:

Well, my summer of leasure with DD only lasted one week. I was offered another job at a new office that is 10-15 minutes from home. Too good to pass up! DD will be watched by her auntie 2 days per week until school starts. I have cleared my next 4 vacations with the new doctor and he has okayed everything (like he had a choice ;) ). Apparently, he takes 5 weeks a year off so vacation must be important to him too!:thumbsup2 I was looking forward to a summer off but God works in mystereous ways.

DH and I decided to cancel the DCL Mediteranean Cruise for next August. We decided the expense was not worth the ports of call and we will vacation in Europe on our own time in a couple of years.

Gail I am glad you are feeling okay.

Just to update you on my condition. The Dx is in: ruptured disc at C5 and C6 with associated mild nerve damage to the left arm. I am to have a nerve block done on Thursday but want to do some research about it first. I think other than surgery, it might be my only option for relieving the pain. :-( No work for awhile either I guess. Not fun. Hope to be better real soon.

Gail I sure hope your surgery goes as well as mine did. I had my gallbladder out at 7:30 and went home at 1:30. I went and watched volleyball that night and was playing volleyball the next week. I had 2 weeks off of work but I really could have gone back in a few days.

Curt and Karen so sorry to hear about your cat. That is such a hard thing to go through. I am getting worried about our dalmation that is 10. She is having a hard time getting around lately but other times she is out in the yard chasing the kids around.

Gail - glad you are feeling better. Sorry that alcohol isn't considered a liquid!

I've got a funny story for you. Tom had surgery several months ago and was in the hospital for 8 days. He was on IV fluids without any food for the first 3 days. Then switched to liquids for 2 days. On the 6th day, food services came by with a menu for him. He was SOOO excited! He ordered french toast with maple syrup for breakfast. In the morning, someone dropped off his tray and there was a bowl and a cup of tea but no french toast. He called the young woman back into the room and explained there must be an error because he ordered french toast. The young woman smiled and said there wasn't an error. Just opened the lid to the bowl and said the french toast was pureed!!! He was now on a soft foods diet! Needless to say he didn't eat it. The moral of the story is be careful what you order!
