Alamo charges $9 a day to rent a seat times 2 times all those days I'd be better off buying cheap ones. Right now we have Britax car seats for the girls. They are supposed to be the cream of the crop in carseats but they weigh about 900 lbs and are huge.

And I did think about renting and dropping off at the port while bringing our own seats. I already stow the double stroller in the bathtub, I have no clue where I'd keep 2 car seats. For those of you that came to visit me last year, after the first days presents---how insanely messy was my room? It was like an obstacle course to get from the door to the bed! :rotfl:

I'm thinking now about maybe a towncar to the port and then DCL tranfers back. Can anyone recommend a good company?

They charge for that??? GEEZ LOUISE!

Ok so I recently used q u i c k s i l v e r tours for our wedding planning trip and it worked well and they were early, Matt's mom and my sister had no complaints.

And after all the bad stuff they say about NJ drivers, you mean to tell me the FL drivers are worse? I have no patience when it comes to driving with idiots on the road. Maybe I should rethink my big plans to move to Florida......oh, wait, they don't have winter there---yea, I'll deal with the crazy drivers!

On our trip to SC last weekend I noticed in all the states everyone travels just a bit over the speed limit, never passes on the right and only uses the left lane for passing. We crossed the state line back into Michigan and I would have sworn we entered the Autobahn - all rules of the road were out the window. Speeds are 80+ cars zipping in and out of traffic. Crazy drivers, this was on I-75 and as bad as it is there it's still not as bad as driving I-696!

I wonder if there will be extra checks when boarding Disney Cruises this weekend? We are going on a 4 day on the Wonder on Sunday.

Connie! Don't know if anyone got back to you on this yet. When you reply to a message, or create one here on the boards, take a look up near the top of the page where it says Reply to Thread. Below that you'll see Title. Below that is Message. You can select the font type, size and color. To the right are all the Smiles the DIS guys have put together for us to use. There's even a [More] you can select to see more selections. That is where the multi-smiles are.

Hope this helps. Have fun getting creative! :thumbsup2

thanks, I can get the main smilies.....but when I click on "more" nothing happens, I probably have a block on them somewhere in my firewall and security stuff. I'll have to work on that.......;)

Cheryl I am glad you and Todd are okay! I think I am done driving for the day!:drive:

well on the car accident front Todd and I were just in one. Our light had turned green, we went through the intersection and hit a car that ran the other light. We are both fine although a few more seconds earlier and we could have been hit. The front bumper and hood have damage.
OMG! Red light runners are TERRIBLE in Florida! I'm sure glad you are ok!

You know, I didn't mind all the travel I do before this, but now I'm going to have to check my bags every trip and that is a royal pain in the you know what.

But, I have a great entrepreneurial idea. I should start a business that collects your sundries at the airport and delivers them to your destination. This way, you can still avoid checking your bags and having to pay exhorbatant prices at the hotel sundry shops.

I was watching MSNBC and the travel guy from the Today show was giving his expert opinions :lmao: He was saying he hasn't checked his luggage on a plane since 9/11 and instead uses some sort of shipping service that basically gets your luggage to it's destination without being on the plane. He said those folks are going to make some serious cash with things the way they are now. Right now he says there are 11 companies that do it---anyone want to start up a 12th one with me? :lmao:

So, while we didn't have a car accident today (Cheryl, glad you two are OK!!), Ken did have a little boo-boo here at home. He accidentally spilled his Diet Coke onto and into our cable box which is on the kitchen counter. This is NOT what I did... :happytv: We let it dry out for 1/2 an hour, and it doesn't work. I called the cable company and they said to let it dry overnight, on a fan, and it might work again. I hope so because a new box would cost us $275! I think if it still doesn't work, we'll just drop the digital portion of our cable and just go with basic!

Hopefully it will work when it dries out. A few years ago, we got a new computer, it was literally one day old when I spilled a diet coke in the keyboard. It took a few days, but it did dry out and it did work after it was all dried out.

Same goes with the camera Julia threw in the dog water bowl. That took several weeks to work again, but it did! :wizard:

David - I am sorry to hear about your dad, I hope he gets to feeling better soon!!!

Cheryl and Todd, glad your both OK. sheesh, for a relatively small list we've had more than our share of car accidents recently. NO MORE!

Can someone tell me about car rental near port. Is it right at the port. If not how do you get the rest of the way. Just thinking that might be cheaper than transport for two.

Diana,
We've used Sunray on more than one occassion and found them nice and very reliable but we haven't used them in a year or so. If you go to mouseforless there is a coupon for a discount.

I'm already getting excited about our upcoming trip to FL to drop off dd and quickly visit Disney. We have ressies at BCV :-)

Item 1:
Quote: Stitch #1

That drink will be mine Baby!! :drinking1
I love a challenge and I hate to lose!! :furious:

Bring it on Stace - I might have to disqualify you though cause you have Karen's cell # and might go fishing for hints.
(Cheating on the site is not unheard of - so I've been told  :rolleyes1 )

Item 2:

I resemble...I mean resent that.
Actually Karen had mentioned it to me a while ago and wouldn't tell so I guess I have to it the honest way and actually try to figure it out.

Bruce called DVC today and booked our transfers for the cruise. The bus doesn't leave BW until 12:45!! :furious: I'm never going to get on the ship!!! :furious: Last year I was mad at 11:45, but 12:45 is a whole entire hour later!!

I'm going to start to look at an alternate method. Renting a car doesn't work well because between renting and parking and dragging 2 car seats, it's not worth it. :headache:

If you do try to rent a car I just wanted to let you know we have used L&M car rental 3 times and have had great experiences (and great cars)each time. There prices are usually quite cheap and they are in the terminal. We thought about renting a convertible this time but I am worried about our luggage fitting in the trunk.

Marla, We're gonna have a very celebratory table. Me and Dh are celebrating our 25th a yr late but what the heck. We took a "no kids" disney vacation (not cruise) in 97 but as we touched down in Orlando I felt sick and started coughing. I wound up getting whooping cough! For 8 weeks I was down and out. Poor hubby he just wanted some nice time away with me. Our kids were 14 and 11 and we'd never vacationed without them, they were at summer camp so we figured why not. We've never cruised without them and DD is VERY jealous. I owe her a cruise post 18 so she can come in the adult pool, I promised her but her college schedule wouldn't allow for it this time :-(

We are staying at SSR post cruise but waitlisted post cruise at BCV but don't think it will happen. Have a great day everyone.

Our kids are 15 and 11. They still can't believe I would go without them. But I REALLY wanted to go on the member cruise and I didn't want to take them out of school for a week (although I did when they were younger  ).

Sorry about your Dad. Coumadin is supposed to thin your blood - I hope they took him off of it or at least reduced the dose?

Glad both of you are okay!

David - sorry to hear about your dad. Thoughts and prayers are with him! pixiedust:

We still aren't sure how we'll get to the port either. I was planning to use Disney transportation but don't want to get to the port that late. I didn't want to spend a few hundred on a limo service either so I guess I'll need to look into a rental car.

As far as anniversaries, we just celebrated our 21st in June but October 12 will be our 25th anniversary of being together! So I guess that's kind of an anniversary.

Annmarie

Ilene....Budget, Hertz and Avis all have offices near the port and offer a complimentary shuttle to the port after you drop your car off. Hope that helps.

Coleen and I are going to be celebrating our 20th anniversary (1 month late) while on this cruise!
