Amy, did you know this is referred to a "golden birthday" being Emily will turn the same number as the day of the month she's born on?

Cameron is turning 12 on October 8th.
Yeah, we call it a golden birthday too!! I want to do something special for her on her actual birthday. Unfortunately, it's a Thursday and she'll have school. But, I'll figure something out.

We're thinking of having a joint birthday party with one of her little friends, Emma, who's birthday is the 6th. They are both HUGE Disney Princess fans, so we're thinking about having a Princess Tea Party, since they have the same friends.

I know we talked about this last year but no one did it. For those of you staying at WDW the night before and you don't have a rental car, have you thought of getting a van for a group of you? If you split the cost it could be as cheap as the bus and you would have more freedom of time. I'd offer someone a ride but the car just fits us and our luggage. We did offer to take Cameron or Walker home with us last year but by way of the roof racks. :)

My other thought, Diana, was maybe you could just rent a car from Saturday afternoon until Sunday at the port. Then, take Disney transportation back. Then, you can just rent the car seats for one day, and we could provide you one, you'd just have to rent one. And, I'm sure someone could get you or Bruce to a rental office on Saturday afternoon.

Just a thought!

LOL we offered them the roof as well - somehow I think that's not an agreeable method of transportation ;)

After the Repo cruise last summer a DISer had contacted Mears and we reserved 2 tour buses to take us back to the airport. Cost was less than $8 per person. I think each bus held like 45 people. Could be an option if we had enough people interested. Right now we have a rental car and will pay for parking but we could use ME and take the bus back and forth. I would be willing to make a call and find out more info. We are staying @ BCV before and after the cruise so one pick-up and drop off location would be the best idea. Anyone interested?

I'm not on here as late as you all in the evenings but I'm often the first post of the morning:surfweb: actually I don't drink coffee and usually wake up with a smile and energetic. I have more trouble in the evening. Doesn't make me much of a party person but I manage to stay up a bit later at Disney :thumbsup2

I'd be interested in sharing a van if the cost is less than disney transfers. We are staying at Pop Century, not sure how we'd get to another hotel with bags and all and no direct connect. Maybe the van person would be ok with another pick up if it was explained.

Georgie, glad your waitlist came through!

The new restrictions on air travel don't affect us much as we hardly ever do carry on and I just assume they do whatever necessary to insure our safety.

Anyone here know anything about D.C.? My ds is considering GW Law School, has to make a decision in the next week or two. He is currently full scholarship (and #1 in his class) at Roger Williams Law in RI. He put in to transfer because he's not sure he could get the type of position he wants upon graduation from the RI school. He is waitlisted at Georgetown which he'd really like but ?, he is having a tough decision between RW and GW. I'm at a loss to help him. He also has no accomodation prospects in DC and has to pull it all together really fast as school starts 8.28. So if anyone knows about any condos or apts for rent in vicinity of GW please let me know (pulling at straws I know).

Is anyone here also a member of Mouseforless like me? I used to be very active on their boards but not in a long time. I just went to the website and found my photo essay http://www.mouseforless.com/mflvault/mascots/gallery9a.shtml
of a trip with the Figment mascot from 2002! It was fun to view it again and I had no idea it was still there, along with my directions on how to make tie dyed Mickey Tshirts. Fun!

Good morning everyone! I am finishing my coffee while reading everyone's posts from last night. I'm off to work at SSR Artist's Pallette today.

It's going to be another hot :sunny: one here in Orlando! Have a good day everyone, I KNOW I will! I really enjoy seeing all our guests! :cool1:

Good morning everyone! I'm off work today and Mark is only going in for a while this morning. Then we are headed of to go visit Karen (ohiominnie) and her family in Ohio!

Cindy - safe travels today and have a great time at WDW!

Have a good time in Ohio M & M! I think I will do some camera shopping this weekend. I want to look at the Sony H5 and see if it will be the camera of the future for me!

That you did and they thought it was a great idea. It would have proven to be more of a thrill than any ride they could have gone on at WDW. :cool1: Good thing for me, we didn't have to take you up on that offer.

Aren't you off to visit the ohiominnie family this weekend? Safe travels to you and Mark.

Definately something to celebrate. As an October bride I can tell you it is a great time of year to get married and WDW makes a great honeymoon spot.

Maybe.

We still haven't decided what we are doing. I liked getting to the port early as we did last year. We rented a car and parked it at the port. We didn't get there as early as some who were partying in the parking lot (Cheryl, Todd, Mark, Mary, Amy, Chris --- who else am I forgetting). I do know when we pulled in, I took some pictures of them sitting in their cars.

The one thing we're definately doing differenty is not planning a big breakfast before we get to the ship. The more practical side of me is coming out in that it was great to have breakfast with Chris & Mike & their boys at Cape May, but when we got onto the ship, we still we're not hungry so it really isn't something we'll do again.

We're keeping the same plan as last year. Since we are driving down we'll check out of Boardwalk, head over to Mary Queen of the Universe for Mass, then a quick breakfast at McDonalds and then over to the port!

Yes last year when we pulled into the holding lot we were right next to Karen (ohiominnie) and her whole family. Then Cheryl and Todd joined us as did Amy. As we were pulling out we saw Cindy's family.

The best thing about this year is with the new boarding procedures there aren't any long lines to stand in. So what we did in May is just grab an area of the couches and all the DISers could mix and mingle!

Roxann, great idea! I'm definitely interested. :wave2: We're at BWV before, so even if we were to leave from BC, I don't see it a problem getting our stuff over there. Since there's a few people who talked about not having transportation, this may work for us.

I think it was Mary who mentioned getting a van, I'd be up for that as well, if anyone doesn't mind riding with the kids. (or I can always strap one to Julie's and one to Mary's roof!) Anything to get me to the port before 3pm! Georgie really scared me now!!

I went to bed last night with our best option being renting a car from Friday - Sunday from Avis and then taking DCL transfers back. For $159 but that includes renting 2 car seats at $9 each per day :headache: The big problem is I need at least an intermediate SUV or minivan to fit out luggage plus the double stroller.

We're planning on a big breakfast at this point because we aren't going to be getting to the ship until dinner time!! :lmao:

I just printed our boarding passes. They all have a rather large letter "A" on them. Does this mean we'll be in the first group boarded? I'm just a little worried that Walker will not be able to sit with me. Cameron will be fine, no matter where he sits (in fact, he'd prefer to sit away from his little brother) but I'd hate to subject strangers to Walker's mischief.

Does anyone know?

Yup. That's the first group. You'll board after the pre-board people. You should be able to go and get your boarding passes for your return flight printed at VWL too.

I know the $9 per day, per seat won't go down, but maybe the overall cost of the rental will. They adjust all the time. I've done it what seems like daily for our rental car in Hilton Head and tonight. I just keep checking the site for specials and they do pop up from time to time. The other day, I saved $20 off my rental car for this weekend just by rebooking. I'm renting for the 5 days for about $80 now and with the added conveniece of having our own car, I really can't beat that.

Maybe you should leave the stroller at home? At least that would open up your room a little bit and you could actually use the bathtub. :lmao: Just where did you put the stroller when you needed to shower or the kids needed a bath? :rotfl:
