Yeowzer!!
I have a fairly short commute now. It involves walking down a hallway and going down a flight of stairs. Of course, the commute BACK is harder b/c I have to go UP the stairs!! :lmao:

I think I can beat that. We live in a ranch so I don't even have to deal with stairs. :thumbsup2

Did I mention I now have a new daycare child? So, come August when Cameron & Walker go back to school, I will have a 6 month old, 2-1 year olds (who will both turn 2 on 10/10), a just turned 2 year old and a 2 1/2 year old. In January, I'll add another 3 month old to the mix. :crazy2: My poor garbage man loves when I have a house full of children in diapers. It's always such a surprise to open my trash cans. :scared:

But see there won't be a pediatrician on board. :lmao: We'll miss Mike but really hope Karen and the kids can make it onboad!

Oh, darn it, I forgot it's just Karen & the kids on the waitlist. :goodvibes

Yes, Karen, we're hoping. It's always nice to know there is a pediatrician on board. ;) Just kidding, I'd love to sail with you again!

But there won't be!!! If the waitlist comes through you'll have just ME and the kids. Which means if my kids get sick I'll be making a $6.95 a minute call in hysterics trying to find out WHICH of the 95 medications I'll have on board is the RIGHT one to give!!!! :lmao:

Don't take the gum out of Cameron's care package. I don't think one evening of chewing a ton of sugared gum will make a huge difference. I'd just stick with sugarless as much as possible. And, actually, KT's root canal (and the 5 or 6 other cavities she had at the time) were caused from her constant consumption of strawberry milk. The dentist asked though "does she chew sugared gum?" uh....no....and it's weird b/c she drinks milk ALL the time....uh....with strawberry powder in it.....BINGO!! :lmao:

I was ready to pin the "bad mom of the year award" on myself for that one!

Robin, that looks like some major work going on with the addition. I'm not sure I have the patience for something like that.

We always said when Walker went to first grade, we were going to either add an upstairs or push the back of the house out to meet the garage. But, now that he's on his way, we're second guessing that thought process. Cameron is pretty set on staying here so moving isn't an option -- even to a house in the same area. And, in our neck of the woods, they are doing these tear downs where the completely tear down the existing home and rebuild it with a new one. Our biggest complaint (besides the fact that we have outgrown this house about 10 years ago) is that we don't have a basement and absolutely no storage other than the garage. Closet space is a premium around here. There is a section not far from us where there are new, bigger homes going up daily. Just a couple weeks ago, one started just a couple blocks from us so we know the wave is coming this way and it's starting to look like financially, it might be a bad move to do an addition instead of serioiusly considering a tear down/rebuild on our lot.

We'd definately have to find a rental home for us for the time they would be doing something like that. There is no way we could stay here.

We'll see what developes in the next year or so.

Gee, you just had to ruin that good news, didn't you! I didn't realize that the days start getting shorter as of today. I always thought it was in the fall that started but now that you mention it, I guess I did notice, I just didn't put it all together. :(

If Karen's waitlist comes through, something tells me that we'll have no problem reaching 20,000+ posts on this thread. :duck: :lmao:

Yup....it's the summer solstice. :( Fall is when it gets OBVIOUS....b/c then we have the equinox (equal day and night) And then there is winter when it's dark at 5:30. BLECH. I used to suffer with SAD so winters REALLY got me down. I think the trips to FL really help temper that....along with me having a change in attitude. But I could easily let myself slip into SAD if I wasn't careful.

Good Morning! Well today should be a fairly easy day at work. I will be attending a company outing at a local country club so work is only until 11:15 and then off to play the rest of the day. It looks like a beautiful day to do so too. I signed up for volleyball and mini golf. Nothing like making a fool of yourself in front of your co-workers! :rotfl2:

Cindy, I can't believe how big that bubble is! People in my office buy big tubs of bubble gum at BJs and some of them make bubbles but never that big! I'm always afraid mine will pop and be stuck all over my face!

Robin, that's great you were able to replace your collectible! Especially since it was so special.

Roxanne, great news about your new job! On a good traffic day, I commute 45 minutes (one way) to one of my offices and 65 minutes to the other. We've often discussed moving closer to where I work but I love living in an beach community. Even though I don't have water views where I live it's nice to know it's less than a five minute drive to get there.

Have a good day everyone! Annmarie
Have fun at "work" today, Annmarie!!!

Good morning fellow cruisers. Ian woke me up about a half hour ago - he's back asleep, I'm still up.

Speaking of commutes, I once had a 1400 mile commute each week. Yup, I flew between DFW and SEA-TAC every Monday and Friday for almost a year and a half. I racked up the frequent flier miles but sure did hate the short weekends at home. At least I had an apartment w/washer & dryer up in Tacoma so I didn't have to carry a suitcase each week. Locally I've never been more than 20 minutes from my place of employment because I'm like Mary don't like long drives to work.
Chris used to commute like that too! He used to commute from Tampa to Toronto 5 days a week. The first time, he did it for 6 months (while we were trying to buy a house and plan our wedding), talk about busy weekends when he was home. Then, he did it again for a year while I was pregnant with Emily. I used to call him the whirlwind when he would come home on the weekends. Because it was SO busy and then when he left it was like a tornado had come into town.

Amy, we fly down late on Friday, August 11 and return home late Tuesday, August 15th. :cool1:
Ok cool, then we'll probably book Saturday night and just drive over in the morning to see you guys!!!

WOW, we must work at the same place! I have a very similar commute here! :lmao:

Seriously though, when I got out of college I got a job working at a broker at US Customs at the Canadian Border. I drove 50 miles each way, luckily I lived in the middle of nowhere so it took a little more than an hour in good weather.

When I first moved here, I had pretty much the same commute that Stacy has now, I lived about 15 miles from work and most days it took about an hour to get home with the insane traffic on the Northway.

Then I got my last job which was less than 5 miles from home, I came home at lunch, watched the soaps, jumped in the pool. That was almost as good of a commute that I have now!
Me too!! Short commute here. Actually, I had a short commute when I had a job too, since I worked from home for 3 years. Before that, I had about a 15 mile commute over the bridge into Tampa. What I loved about it was that I got to see the water every day, and the sunrise in the AM, and the sunset in the PM.

OK, who here is a Big Brother fan? It starts up again tonight!! :cool1:

Reality TV is my guilty pleasure.

Ohh, I am!! I am!!! But, I'm guessing that you're not surprised by that, since we're long lost sisters.:rotfl2:

I agree on the Reality TV, it really is my guilty pleasure. I like SO many of them. Last night, I watched Fear Factor - Reality Stars (which isn't my favorite, but I liked seeing the reality stars doing weird stuff) and Last Comic Standing. I also like Hell's Kitchen right now.

I'm a Big Brother fan. Thanks for the reminder. This is an all-stars one so we will so who all goes into the house. I always said that i think this is the only reality show I could do, but I still think I'd get voted off early. :)
