Kara, I sent you a PM with my email. Thanks for doing this!!

Okay, on the discussion of children...I promise my DD(4) will not be running the halls alone, nor will be she be hanging around the stairwells! LOL Hopefully she'll be happily enjoying herself in the kids club, while DH and I are enjoying our martinis in Sessions! You'll see her in line for character signings, pin trading, ice cream and the dinner table with Mommy & Daddy! Also, I can bet we'll be at the Mickey Mouse pool! DD loves to swim!

It's good to know that the Ship of Fools lurk here! I really enjoy their thread too! Welcome Fools!

Laurie

Kara - I too sent you an PM with my e-mail.....

I'm so glad that there will be approx. another 549 kids for my son (5yo) to play with ---By the way - he will neither run the halls alone, or hang in the stairwells - and if you catch him there --please take him directly to a CM because he obviously escaped while I was busy dancing the Lambada with Mickey.

Seriously - Maybe I should start a separate thread for this Disney cruise for people WITH children, because I'm not exactly getting warm fuzzies right now....
Jill

I will have two kids with us then. Hey, if you guys ever see improper behavior of my two on the ship, I don't mind if you let me know. You can't teach them if you don't know what they are doing. They might not realize what polite is despite my efforts. Yes , I fancy myself from the old school.
For the most part, I generally get good comments from all of our neighbors.
Kara, I sent you a pm. Thanks.
They told me atDCL that the excursions were done the other day , but they weren't posted on the web.

You're not alone in that observation Jill

Cheers,

I agree! I missed alittle and now I am catching up a few pages here! I'm not worried about the kids. If I did, I sure would'nt book a Disney cruise! Kaylin loves the kids club, so she likes it there most of the time. I love seeing the kids. The only time I get aggrevated is when the parents are right there & letting the kids be disrespectful! Its great watching them get so excited over the little things :earseek: :earseek: :earseek: I wrote Jindy a little note, but have not heard back yet. I hope she will still be joining us on this cruise! Have a great day everyone!
I also know what you mean when you drive so far everyday that you get spaced out & miss your exit :earboy2:

Hi Jill,

You can join my family for dinner... We usually cruise with a big group of friends and always have a few kids at our table.. we love kids and are not bringing any this trip.

Bye, Kim

P.S. Any child would be a saint compared to a 5 yr old on our 1st cruise. She would climb under the table and pull off the tablecloth, or climb on top of the table, parents let her do anything... We finally adopted topsiders at night.

Seriously, kids belong on a Disney cruise, and they aren't going to act like small adults. But why would you have a problem with the observation that some kids, and they ARE the older ones, are loitering and getting into mischief? Are we not supposed to notice?

I'd think that using wheelchairs on stairs isn't a bright idea anyway, never mind the fact that its on a moving ship, and the wheelchair may not even belong to them and could be damaged, thereby costing Disney more and not having one availble for someone who may need it?

My only personal experience with kids loitering involves all the buttons getting pushed on the elevators, all the elevators. Now some adults may do that, but I've known a whole lot more bored kids doing that than adults. Add to that I've cruised with disabled people who depend on those elevators, they can't choose to take the stairs for their health.

Rather than starting a new thread, and dividing the w/kids and w/o kids even more, how about a little compassion for those who may be inconvenienced by young people who could be doing something constructive. I didn't hear anyone being rude, just some honest observations. Most parents I know do want to know these kinds of things.

Kelli and her disclaimer---speaking as one adult who has never cruised with children under 18.

Kara, thanks for the excursion info,

Looks like we will only have diving in Curacao and Cabo.

In Mazatlan I will have to go on the Sierra Madre Tour, just so I can say “badges, we don’t need no stinking badges” , now there might be the place to buy a lotto ticket. :D

Hey guys, I will speak for Lynn and I about kids, so here goes.

By our own choice we decided a long time ago not to have kids. We like kids, and realized that being a parent is a very big responsibility and an undertaking that is not to be taken lightly. Our carrer paths were such that it would not have been respondsible to have children. Hence our decission. This is DCL so kids are to be expected, same at WDW, so live and let live. It is great to have them along.

As Bill said, he would not be offended if he were informed of his kids behavior, this may be a good thing to let the kids know that there are several folks out there watching. This goes to my front porch theory of the digression of our society. Simply put, when I grew up in the Chicago area people sat on their front porch and watched what happened in the neighborhood. So when little Scotty acted up the neighbors saw it and told my parents. Now we live in back yards and neighbors we don’t have the front porch eyes on the neighborhood and to see little Scotty acting up.

Just my thoughts.

For those of you who provided me with your email address, I have sent out the excursion list. I did PM a few people back as they didn't give me their email address when they requested the list and I'm a techno dummy, so I cannot figure out how to get your email addresses from DIS. Just PM me back and I'll send the list out later today. For those of you who would still like it but haven't contacted me yet, never fear! PM me with your email address.

Like Scott and Lynn, DH and I have chosen to not have children, but we also recognize that Disney is synonymous with family and the family experience so children are all around us. But we've never had any bad experiences, including the 10-day cruise, which we've already heard was packed with kids.

That being said, I think it may be time to move on to a new topic...EXCURSIONS! Some of you know, but some of you may not know, that DCL now allows you to book excursions up to 90 days in advance. Just thought I would share that in case your family has their hearts set on something, you may want to consider booking early. I, for one, never wait until boarding to choose excursions...shocker, I know :earseek: ! Tee hee.

Thanks Ken! I have a bunch of meetings today, so I will send out the second email this afternoon to those of you who are sending me PMs now.

Isn't this exciting!?! Sure makes us feel like we're that much closer to the cruise~ :Pinkbounc

Hey guys, chances are very likely that Lynn and I will be diving in Curacao. Being in the dive business we received a pass for the Curacao Sea Aquarium , it is at home so I can not remember how many it is for, I think two (2), not positive. Will also have to check to see if there is an expiration date. I have it stuffed in the file for this trip and will bring it along and maybe we could use it as a prize for the winner of twister. Actually it is up for grabs, we would like to someone use it and yet be fair about how we give it away.

I have to start by saying that I took my Mom on the 4 day Disney Wonder cruise at the end of November 2004 and we absolutely loved every minute of it so I went on the Disney Cruise Line site to start getting quotes for another cruise in May 2006. While on the site, I was having a hard time deciding between the Eastern & Western cruises and then I thought how cool would it be to book back to back eastern & western caribbean cruises. I called the Castaway Club number and spoke to a wonderful CM who answered all my questions about the back to back and then she inquired if I'd be interested in doing the 14 repositioning cruise through the Panama Canal this May 14-28. I advised that would be a trip of a lifetime but heard it was sold out. She said that she thought there were a few cabins still available and she checked and sure enough there was a category 9 stateroom available and I took the plunge and booked it. I am so excited...I still can't believe that we are actually going on this cruise...I called Disney again this morning just to confirm our reservation!!!!

Thanks to everyone who redirected me to this thread. Now to go back and read all 177 pages!!!!!

Elaine

Scott--

Would you mind e-mailing the excursion list if I PM you my e-mail? Just sooo excited that I want to get a look at that list!

Kara is the keeper of the list but I can sent it no probs, I sent you a PM.

Welcome aboard to Mickey&joshnut.
