Thanks Ken, I have the e-mail..

Bye, Kim

P.S. We are arriving on 5/13 and are staying at the Hyatt with other friends from MA, anyone else planning on staying at the Hyatt Friday night ??

I got it, thanks! I read somewhere back on the boards about a good place to horseback ride at one of the ports, and they let my daughter's age ride. Does anyone remember the name of it. I guess I look back, but I have no clue where to begin!

Thanks!

Kim

I was looking at the excursions..."Tequila, Horses and Horaches"????? Do I even want to ask?

I have to start by saying that I took my Mom on the 4 day Disney Wonder cruise at the end of November 2004 and we absolutely loved every minute of it so I went on the Disney Cruise Line site to start getting quotes for another cruise in May 2006. While on the site, I was having a hard time deciding between the Eastern & Western cruises and then I thought how cool would it be to book back to back eastern & western caribbean cruises. I called the Castaway Club number and spoke to a wonderful CM who answered all my questions about the back to back and then she inquired if I'd be interested in doing the 14 repositioning cruise through the Panama Canal this May 14-28. I advised that would be a trip of a lifetime but heard it was sold out. She said that she thought there were a few cabins still available and she checked and sure enough there was a category 9 stateroom available and I took the plunge and booked it. I am so excited...I still can't believe that we are actually going on this cruise...I called Disney again this morning just to confirm our reservation!!!!

Thanks to everyone who redirected me to this thread. Now to go back and read all 177 pages!!!!!

Welcome Elaine! So glad you are joining us! Tell us more about yourselves.

As we pick up new people, maybe some of us who have been here for a while can also say a bit about ourselves again.

This cruise will consist of myself, my DH, and my parents. We booked on the first day this cruise was announced. We are in cat 6 cabins on deck 6.

DH is a Data Center Facilities Engineer, I am a Compliance Officer with a brokerage firm. My parents grow wine grapes in Sonoma County. Yes, we all love wine and have the lofty goal of brining 6 bottles per person on the cruise. That's my father's idea, not mine! We'll see if it works...

Hey, last cruise, my MIL brought her own blender and stuff for Margaritas. I laughed at her for awhile, but then began to like the idea! May have to consider it, since its 14 days. Thats one heck of a bar tab for us! :drinking1

bettemom . . . We are scheduled to be at the Hyatt on Friday, May 13. I think our flight gets in around 4:00. I'm not sure if we will go to Downtown Disney or just hang at the hotel. I am renting a car for Sat to port, so going to DD would be very easy.

Hey Kim - we are coming in on 5/12, but haven't booked a place to stay yet. The Hyatt is pretty expensive compared to other area hotels, and many of them have free shuttles. Have you considered looking at those? For instance, we stayed at the Renaissance in December (it's part of the Marriott chain), it was really a nice place, and we only paid $87 for the night. Then our towncar just picked us up there. Or if you're taking the Disney buses, have their free shuttle take you back over to the airport. It's only about a 5 minute ride. Just a thought. Marriott has about four or five hotels just off the airport between all of their different brand names.

I just can't lurk anymore!

DH and I are on this cruise too. Booked into a Catagory 7 with late seating. Staying at the Port the night before and one night at the Grand Californian after the cruise (using DVC points). We haven't been the Disneyland in 27 years but visit WDW a lot (I think its an addiction.....DH finds that when he is too stressed at work he needs a pixie dust fix so off we go.).

Kara I will pm you with our e-mail address for the excursion list. Thank you.

Looking forward to joining the group.

Welcome DVC Minnie! I got your PM and will email that out to you. Glad you're coming with us! We are also WDW addicts, problem is we're all the way out here in CA, so it doesn't happen for us as often, but we still go there a lot more often than to DL.

Tell us something about yourselves!

Kara - thanks for the excursion information

About ourselves - my mom (or is it DM) is retired and I'm a professional accountant. We are relatively new cruisers (we've only done the 4-day Wonder in November) and I still can't believe that we are actually going to on this cruise. I know this is going to sound weird but I hope that 14 days on the ship isn't too much for us. We certainly felt that the 4-day was too short - after the first night we were like, why didn't we book the 7-day?. I'm hoping to actually enjoy things on the ship this time. I really want to just relax on Deck 4 in those comfy deck chairs and to actually use the pools!!!!

I don't know where were will be on the ship other than I'm in a guaranteed Cat 9 stateroom.

Counting down the days...so little time....so much research & planning to do!!!!

Elaine

Kara, I'll start the thread for telling a little about myself and family!

My DH, Michael is a General Contractor who is an expert witness in construction defect litigation. We own a consulting firm and a construction business. I am a stay at home Mom and do accounting for the consulting business. We have three kids 20, 17 & 4. The two older are my step-children and will not be cruising with us. Our DD, Quincy Kate, loves Disney, especially the princesses.

I took my first trip to WDW when I was 8. When I was pregnant with Quincy we took a family vacation with my parents and our two other children to WDW for 7 days. We took Quincy to DL twice when she was 2 and this last year we've been to WDW 4 times! My parents just moved from Illinois to a retirement community north of Orlando! YEAH!!

This is our first cruise and we are very excited! Can't wait to meet all of you on board!

To everybody new, Welcome! Hubby Jeff is the keeper of the list for this cruise, so please email him who is cruising with you, ages, location and stateroom number is known. Actually for the moment email me since our server blew up and tiggerfan.net is in hiatus for the moment. You can email me at jenkatt@gmail.com....
Quick question for everyone, are we going to do a themed sail away party? If so we'll need to put orders in to Oriental Trading soon. If anyone wants to send the stuff to my house feel free, I can send you our address. We can give you the stuff the night before the cruise or at the port. Also, we should probably be thinking about sailaway gifts for folks and events on board. We've got a movie night, drunken twister, a book exchange, game night, what else? We could do another wine tasting in someone's room as well I guess.....
Let me know, email me your stuff and as soon as tiggerfan.net is back up we'll post...
(Jeff will be happy, he won't have to change the door magnet sign again!)

By the way, talked to the cruise director while on our cruise, there are about 550 kids on our 14 day and yes, there are over 1000 coming back!!!!

Linda

Linda....... sorry.......... I should have known there was a good reason (other than the Fools) that you didn't want to go with us. When we were on last April, we had almost 1000 kids on board, but it really wasn't that bad. Hopefully, this one will be ok as well.

DH (54) and me (55) are emptynesters. DH works in insurance and I'm the official vacation planner (never went back to work after the kids flew the nest).

We have been DVC members since 1995. OKW is our home but also have BCV and BWV. First trip to WDW was in 1981 (took our Japanese exchange student). The 14-day will be our 7th DCL cruise and the September 2005 DVC member cruise will be our 8th.

We are so excited about this cruise.

Jen- A couple of ideas from the 10-day that were a lot of fun. First, we did a Tag game with a magnetic door sign in the shape of a Mickey head. Those who wanted to participate gave their cabin #'s. On the back of the Mickey were the cabin numbers that were participating, and on the front, each cabin that got tagged would sign and note their cabin #, then pass it on to another participant. It was a lot of fun! Second idea was a DIS Navigator with screen names of everyone, like Jeff's list, and included people's real names, cabin #'s if you wanted to provide, and a notation if they were participating in Tag. In addition, the navigator gave birthdays and anniversaries that were occurring while on the ship. Just a thought...I would be willing to help put a navigator together with Jeff's help, since he already has so much of the information.

Personnally, I'm not much of one for themed parties. Just my vote on that topic. The sailaway party is theme enough for me!

Kim, it was I that posted before. You can read all about Randi's happy horses on the cruise critic message board. The website is:

http://randishappyhorses.com/

I am also thinking about doing this, but need to check with DD first.
