How about this............................$16,600 and there are still 9 days and 22 hours left before the auction closes.

Our cruise just keeps looking better and better!!!!!

Almost $17,000 for a CAT 9? LOL I am a Disney Visa cardholder and got all the info in the mail, but never bothered! I will have to go have a look, I wonder if I can still register now?

Jindy, I am leaving Thursday morning for Tallahassee. I am a little nervous about this whole thing. The realtor called me this morning and said they are only opening up 6 lots on Friday morning and she expects them to go fast (I hate pressure) She got the word on the new pricing, and it is $13,000 more than a month ago! GULP! So, I will go down there with an open mind, and see what I can do. Wish me luck.

It is freezing here now! It will be nice to go warm up in Florida though.

Robin

Okay, I give up??? I have been to Ebay, and can not find the listing?! Where do you find this on Ebay?

Robin

Hey Robin,

You can search by seller - it's Disneyauctionears or just put "private auction disney cruise" in the search field and it should bring it right up.

I think they have about 17 items up right now. Amazing how much people are willing to pay for some of them!

I've got a bit of catching up to do on our thread as well. Have had lots of "stuff" going on here and not much time to Dis lately!

I think we'll be OK not seeing the Star Wars movie right when it hits theatres - but the Harry Potter book release could be a big deal! The kids have dragged me to the midnight release the last few times a new one came out.
They still make fun of me for falling asleep while reading the last one aloud to them. Sheesh... it was 2:00 in the morning, but it was either stay up and read the first few chapters aloud, or have them fight over who got the book first.

Over $16,000?!?!?! Geez, I guess I was right in thinking that the word "auction" meant "prices through the roof"! :)

Glad we all planned ahead and don't need an auction!
::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

Robin- You will definately warm up! It is nice though right now & Tall. should be a little cooler! We are taking a ride up to our property in Live Oak, FL on the Suwanee river. They say it is very flooded. A 6 hour drive on my birthday to see flooded property! WOO HOO! What a birthday present! Have a good trip!

Robin-you can still register. It just takes a day to activate your Disney VISA auction rights. Go to www.DisneyDreamAuction.com and you can register.

The last auctions end on October 14.

Linda

Thanks Linda! I registered, however I think I will pass on bidding! LOL Then I discovered I could look at the auction without. It is now up to $17,300.00 for 4. This does not even include air, transfers or insurance! It is really nice that 70% of the proceeds will go to Make a Wish though.

Kim, Happy Birthday! :bday: Mine is this month also! I am really looking forward to seeing my DD. But, I am really nervous about this house purchase. But...we will see.

Robin

I would rather make a donation directly, and then be put on the waiting list for the cruise. You can bet there will be openings. A category 9 is not great, and the people bidding probably haven't done the research to figure that out!!!!!

Linda

Just catching up, too!

I forgot about the new Harry Potter book coming out. I hope we can get it on the way. But, I did promise my DS we would wait in line at the bookstore for the opening. I guess that won't happen now.

Would love to see the Star Wars movie onboard!

And, can anyone remember how much the gratuities will be? I'm starting to think how much this thing is going to cost...

Per Guest per cruise 3-Night 4-Night 7-Night
Dining Room Server 11.00 14.75 25.75
Dining Room Asst. Server 8.00 10.75 18.75
Dining Room Head Server 2.75 3.75 6.50
Stateroom Host/Hostess 10.75 14.50 25.25

The above is from the DCL site so X2 for a 14 day. That will surely add up. Crunched the #'s and get $152.50 total per guest for the ones listed above. So for the two of us it will be a little over $300. Usually tip more so will plan accordingly.

Yeah, looks like over $600 for our family of 4.

I have been working on my Disney Rewards $$ and they may add up by then.

SandraLee, Were you the person I talked to from Newnan??

Aww come on who hasn't crunched the numbers totally and put it in a spreadsheet, or am I the only freak here? :)

I put in the cruise, airfaire, transfers, a hotel night (most are DVC), excursions, tips, spa treatments, DL tickets, etc.

I think I covered everything...I have paid for one person at this point (I'm only responsible for two). The hard part is keeping all the money straight since I'm the banker. I paid the $1250 deposits....so thankfully we don't have the new deposit rules! $700 a pop is a lot ($3500).

I'm patiently waiting for double amex miles on everything. They have double miles on purchases coming up but it doesn't include travel. :( As soon as double miles comes up I'll pay for the cruise. That's almost a free ticket! :) :) :)

rcostello1 . . . Yeah, I have tons of AMEX miles -- I'm looking for free rebate (reward) dollars for when I pay off the balance on our cruise! I, too, have already booked free air, free night before at the Hyatt, cheap (almost free) car from MCO to port. Still looking for a way to get from CA port to LAX for free!

I keep telling myself this will be a cruise of a lifetime and all the $$$ will be worth it.

And, I just realized I'll be onboard during our Anniversary! Yahoo!

I have been making plans for a visit to Disneyland for the 50th
Anniversary bash at the end of this cruise and just got this e-mail from my travel agent...

"Well it's a good thing I called the Candy Cane Inn because they no longer
allow any type of animals, not even service animals. So we can not even get a
room there at all."

The Candy Cane Inn, which has a really good nightly rate for the post-repo cruise timeframe, is a motel that Disney lists as one of its "Good Neighbor Resorts" and offers vacation packages in cooperation with them. I am not as
familiar with the California laws on access and have told my TA that this is
illegal per the ADA and will try to go ahead and have her book a room without
mentioning the presence of a Service Dog, although that will just delay the problem until I arrive.
I cannot believe that this is still going on!

Does anyone know whom I might contact at Disney to discuss this matter of their wayward Good neighbor?

(The General Manager's name is Kathy Lanzi, the number is
1-800-345-7057, in case someone, without Service Dog, HA!!, is looking for a decent place to stay after the cruise). $85 AAA rate...

Anyone wonder why I'm cranky about access issues?

That's crazy and it doesn't sound right, maybe there was a miscommunication? I don't think most places, hotels especially, can so no to service animals, and especially in CA...they are so animal friendly anyway...I'm sure they have more allowance that other places. Perhaps even a service monkey would be allowed in CA ;)

Good luck!
