Jindy, we took my daughter to IOA in July. She had a good time, but got upset when she could'nt get on a few of the rides, (she is only about 1 inch away!) It almost made me cry watching her get her feelings hurt. We got in when they opened and had all the rides done by 11:00. There was'nt a lot to do after that!

For those of you who don't know I was just on the main site and heard about a horrible event that is devastating one of the family's on the other repo cruise. CK out the other repo cruise meet page 238.

I don't know where else to post this so I'm posting this here. I'm EG'S (EmmasGrammy) DH I am just writing this to let you know we had a tradegdy here today. There was a fire at Amanda and Davids home, our daughter and Son in Law, Amanda and Emma passed away from smoke inhalation Sophie is clinging to life and is in Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, David is OK We are asking for your prayers for David and Sophie and as soon as I can I will let you know what the status is here. I know Lynda would have wanted you to know

Sophia and the whole family desperately need prayer. There's also a thread on the cruise forum with ideas on how to reach out and help them in this time of shock and loss.

I know that you guys are so loving that you would want to know.

Carasoyn

I just read about that in the CA-FL thread last night. I am shocked. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain they must be suffering from such a tragic loss... :(

HEY Jin

MGM Sure u Can ,,, Dont for Get To See Voyage of The Little Mermaid That would Be icing on the Cake ...

U probably have Seen Fantasmic...

Voyage of the Little Mermaid is one of my favorites! Jindy-I was going to recommend that also. And I think MGM is a great choice for you and your DD for the day! You will be able to enjoy the park and Fantasmic!

Linda

Jen,

I am so glad to hear your have positive things to say about Ron Jons. Months ago I heard nothing but good things, so I booked the night before our cruise. Lately I have read some not so nice things. I am really excited about the pool and being so close to the port:sunny: I plan to be in line early for Palo and Spa ressies myself! :teeth:

Robin

Oh Robin, I haven't stayed there, just looked at pictures and read alot about it. I've only heard good things....

Thanks Scott! I can hardly wait!

I was looking at oriental trader and they have some pirate things for our party.

Jen, I am really looking forward to the relaxing day at Ron Jons before the cruise.

Jindy, you could always camp out with us! The studio sleeps 4, and there are only 2 of us! Sorry, but I don't think we will be doing any parks before the cruise.

Robin

Robin, I am so confused I don't know what to do! But if I end up stranded somewhere with out a ride to the port, could you please make reservations for me at Palo too????? :rotfl: :rotfl: Make them for "2" and you can join me!

Robin we will give u a first hand report .. on Ron Jons
in just about 39 days but who is counting ...

Also plenty of time to Go to Palo.........

Now to get caught up, between the weekend and other things I am about four pages behind.

NBC, is great, Disneyland does it right and would like to see the same at WDW. Maybe someday.

Savings, had $$$ put away for air fare to Tanzania, so just converted it for the cruise, works out really close to the same amount. So all set for the March date. Now to cover the Sept and Nov WDW trips. Then the Bahamas dive trip. Thinking of the travel makes the days go faster with adventures to be had, heading off the Far side of the world. I love being on the threshold of adventure.

Bob and Lee, Glad you enjoyed Bubba's. The pups did not mind the rain it was us soaked owners that did..

Currently reading Daniel Defoe's " A General History of Pyrates", fascinating, Defoe is much better know for "Robinson Crusoe". Will get to Path before the cruise just before the cruise so it is fresh in my mind.

Kelli you are making me feel old, (Not really, cause I am never going to grow up), 1977!!!, I had many a fine adventure by that time. The summer before was on Mt McKinley.

Kelli, my vote would be for the AKL, it is a great property, and really captures the essence of eastern Africa. We will be there for three nights at the end of our Sept WDW trip.

Gave Lynn a hug and a kiss, putting up with me for 24 + years she deserves a lot of credit.

Jindy, definitely get in the MCO - WDW the day before, really a leaves the stress of air travel, weather etc....
One day is plenty for MGM. Pop Century looks pretty cool to me.

As we get closer we can look at the car pool thing to get to the port , kinda like we are doing in CA to get to DL.

This thread grows as I am getting caught up.

Now to start to pack for Sept trip....

I think we will haev quite the group of folks at the front of the line.

Peter,

I'm REALLY looking forward to your report on Ron Jons. I guess we all will be at the front of the line at the Port. Our cruise in February this year, a fellow DISer made us all captain Mickey hats and pins with our names on them. Most did not wear the hats, but I proudly wore mine:teeth: It was fun to know everyone there while in line.

Jindy, for sure I will make your Palo ressies! Brunch and dinner I am assuming? Later we can work out the details as to which night and days. This is great with so many sea days, I would love to do the brunch twice!

Party at the Port? Is the Radisson and Ron Jons close enough together?

Robin

Good grief, flipping myself to a night shift schedule has been much harder this time around. I don't know whether I'm coming or going any more... Jeff and the beagies are so confused...
The new job is going well, working in the NICU (neonatal intensive care) really makes me realize it doesn't matter whether you have a girl or a boy, just as long as they are healthy...
I'm trying to work out staying at Ron Jons are something like that the Friday before the Panama Canal cruise. Having Jeff's Dad drop us off there and take a cab or something down to the port. It's kinda weird since we won't be coming right back to the port. I don't know.
As for Palo's, we're doing high tea, brunch and dinner. Last cruise we wound up dining at Palo's twice for dinner. We went up one night just to go to the bar and have some ice wine, the head guy (his name began with a Z) asked us if we would like to stay for dinner, of course we said yes!!! The chocolate souffle was amazing!
Jindy if you want a babysitter for DD one night, let me and Jeff know, we're just big kids ourselves and can get into a ton of trouble! jk
Ok, I'm going to try to stay awake a bit longer but it's not looking promising

My SIL just got a call yesterday from DCL telling her there was an opening (cat.12) So she went ahead and booked! Oh well, I hope everyone has a great day!

Kimberly

Just a super-quick post because DD has a dentist appointment this morning, and I have a few things to take care of....

First of all, THANKS to all of you for responding to my MGM and transportation questions!! I'm lucky to be cruising my first time with a such a nice group of people.

Please count me in on any carpooling conversations in the future as that may be the best way to get to the port from MGM on Saturday morning. I'd rather not wait till noon for the DCL bus. Will just have to pack less so that I have less luggage to haul. ;)

Party at the port the night before??? Hmmm, interesting! Something tells me there is going to be a lot of partying on this ship!! I may need to hire the babysitting duo of Jeff and Jen one night...LOL!

I still haven't had a chance to check out the Pyrate menu, but thanks for posting the link, Scott. I will check it out later today....

Have a good one everybody...

Scott-thanks for the pirate menu! Gosh, I got hungry just looking at it!

Guess I better start looking at airfares into MCO, I feel like a slacker. Never have stayed at Ron Jon's so will be good to get a recent report so we know. At this point I have no idea what my parents, brother and sister are doing because they are trying to talk themselves out of the trip.

My parents latest was that since they bought a new house they couldn't afford it. Then yesterday they told me, well, if our house doesn't sell, then we won't be moving in November. I said, okay then, I will count you in on the cruise if the house doesn't sale. I'm thinking I might just end up paying for them to go. Since they are both nearing 70, I doubt they will be doing anything else in the future except going south every winter to Arizona with their boat and staying in their "second home" at some park with all the other retirees playing bingo everyday.

Okay, so I guess I better get to work. Oh Jindy-we probably aren't going in until the night before either. Probably will take the 10:15 a.m. Delta flight out that arrives MCO at 4 p.m. But I am not sure I could go straight over cuz I would have to go to Downtown Disney first. I can't be that close and not go shopping! I am so jealous of Jen since she gets to go over to WDW all the time!

Don't think we will use DVC points for Friday night stay, we can get a cheap rate either on or off property and I hate to use our points for one night.

Okay-Anyone book the Happy Trails in Mazatlan. Someone mentioned it earlier, I told my husband that was an excursion I wanted to do.

Work here I come!!!!!

Later,

Linda:hyper:

Ok, time for me to pop in again . . .

The only flights I could get into MCO arrives at midnight! So, I'll probably book in at the Hyatt and use Hyatt points for that. Hopefully, we'll be able to get in earlier, but who knows. We'll probably rent a car from MCO and go straight to port on early Saturday. Anyone remember how much transfers are one way? Would it be worth it for the 4 of us and the 'no-hassle' feature?

I am VERY interested in finding a Dolphin Encounter. Anyone find one, yet? My DD will just melt if I tell her she can pet a dolphin. Can't wait.

Any other research on excursions?

Any idea when we would get off the GTY status?

Sandra, I've seen dolphin encounters at almost every port.

Sandra-if there are 4 of you, you are probably better off using a car service (like Happy Limousine), you can give them exact time for pickup and they will be there. You won't have to worry about waiting for a Disney bus (although they are fun) and have 40+ other people on it with you all wanting to get off at the same time! Also the town car will make a 15 minute grocery stop if you want.

Their website has a coupon too last time I looked.
