Robin when are you going to NYC? I'm going up Dec 6-8 to shop! Haven't booked anything yet but hoping to get to that soon. Which show are you seeing?

Good Monday morning everyone! I have an awful cold, don't know where it came from, but I wish it would leave!

The hockey game was great! We had great seats, lots of smooshed faces! I want to take my daughter back, but I will sit higher with her. They have the team mascot "swampy" the alligator who skates around & throws stuff in the stands! We had a lot of fun! Well, hope everyone has a great week, hope it goes fast!!!

Glad you enjoyed it. I think it might be all the chilyl weather that gave you a cold. It hit the 50's the other night in Orlando.

Now is the annoying time to be a Monorail CM because when you start at 3 or so, its 85 degrees so its way to warm for pants, but by the time you end at midnight its pants and jacket weather.

I just suffer in shorts.

I finally broke down and turned the heat on today. It fell below 60 in the house and the doggies were shakin away even with their sweaters on.

Now I have to work on my presentation for next week...no sleep tonight! 10 days to California, even if it is for work! :)

rcostello, when are you going to be in CA? And where? You may have already posted it and I've forgotten...:yo-yo:

We also had to turn the heater on this weekend...it rained and was cold this weekend, so we had to do it to take the dampness out of the air.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend.

Cheers, Kara

I'm headed out on the 3rd and my conference is Nov 3/4/5 but I will have lots of free time on the 3rd and the 6th. I think I'll go to the park on Friday afternoon/evening since It's a Small World Holiday will be open and the holiday fireworks will be showing. It will be my only chance to see the fireworks cause my flight out is Saturday night.

Can't wait!!

Just curious: I only live about 4 hours from the port so I am planning to drive, but is there any way to fly from Ft. myers to Orlando on the 14th, then fly from Ca back to Ft. myers on the 28th? Is there any way to do this, or would you just have to buy 2 one way tickets? Did I confuse everyone?

Kim

Kim,
Here is an idea. Rent a car to get from Ft Meyers to the port, drop the car and then get the one way ticket home.

For us to use Frequest Flyer tickets for this cruise we have to drive to an airport in Idaho 100 miles away. We will rent a car to make these trips thus not having to park a car for the duration of the cruise.

Hope this helps.

Snowing in Salt Lake City today!! 4 feet of snow at ski resorts in the last week. Has been wet, wet, wet and cold!!!

Scott-I booked on the member cruise on Sat. also. We are on deck 6.

Linda

Cold and cruddy here in WY, so what else is new for late Oct. Winter is here.

Linda , Congrats on getting booked on the member cruise.

I am looking forward to that one almost as much as this cruise.

4 Day on the Wonder Sept 4-8,2005, Port Canaveral, Key West, Day at Sea, then CC.

Have fun in Key West. Make sure you have a green alligator at Irish Kevin's for me!

As of today,

Delta offers a one way from RSW to MCO that leaves at 9:20 and gets to MCO at 10:13.

There is also an evening flight if you want to come in the day before.

Since the distance on the open leg (MCO-LAX) is greater then half of the total other legs (RSW-MCO and LAX-RSW) it would not be eligible for round trip open jaw ticketing and would have to be ticketed as a one way.

On the return trip you'll have a stop as no one currently offers a direct LAX-RSW flight.

A quick price check with flights on 5/14 and 5/31 (assuming you are spending a few days in Disneyland) on Delta gave me a total of $254 per person. The only issue here is a 42 minute connection in Atlanta which is VERY tight. Since that end is probably a bit flexible, there are other flights available for the same price with better connections.

One way from LAX to RSW would be $184 or so you're looking at $70 for the flight up to Orlando.

Remember too that the flight to MCO is on a regional jet so luggage will be more limited.

Jeff, those are great airfares, wish our were that good we would be in FL a lot more often.

This month is almost over and we are well under the 200 day out mark. Soon Turkey day and Christmas will be history and we will be very close then.

Luggage limits on flights these days is pretty limiting. I carry a pack scale to weigh our bags so that we wont be over the 50 lb limit.

Ahhh the airline industry.

I wouldn't worry too much about slightly exceeding that limit provided you're on a fullsize aircraft. The Regional Jets and smaller require the tighter weight limits particularly after the unfortunate crash of that Beech 1900D in Charlotte a couple years ago.

We still plan on Driving to the port and we could probably figure out a way to get stuff to the port for other people if you want to send it ahead.

rcostello1, we are going in on December 23rd. I got really good seats for the new Dracula. My DD really wanted to see Wicked, but could not get good seats at all. We are dead center 3 rows back from the stage for Dracula. I have automatic Ticketmaster updates for when Wicked goes on sale, I hope to get some good seats during the summer. They recently released May dates, so shouldn't be too much longer.

Peter, thanks for the info. I have searched on their website, I see the menu, but no prices. I think I will just call them. After all, this is partially my DD Christmas present, so she should get what she wantsprincess: Was Bubba Gumps good, or is it like all the "chain" type restaurants?

Is the tight restrictions on weight limits now because of people's workman comp claims for back injuries? Just wondering, as Jet Blue still allows up to 70 pounds, and you get 3 bags per person. Anything getting up to 70 pounds they tag "heavy" and it does not go on the belt, they handle those separate. I am so glad that Jet Blue services the airports we use, I have a very funny feeling that I will be coming home with a LOT more than we went with. Let's see, 2 weeks on the cruise, and 1 week in California! :teeth:

Robin

Workers comp claims and I think the real reason is that with less weight = lighter aircraft thus less fuel used. My thoughts.

Being slightly over the luggage limit, depends on the agent at the counter, as to wither thay ding you the extra fee. Sadly I have seen folks re packing at the counter.

Any ways, I just found a great site reference the Canal - check our www.czbrats.com . Some neat stuff there.

Great site Scott, thanks for the link!

I too have seen people repacking at the counter. Taking my DD down to college, one of our bags was 6 pounds over, actually 56.5 and the guy got a nasty look on him face, and then tagged it and put it on the belt. We got off the hook that time!

Hi everyone...been MIA for awhile! So much has happened. I got a great job after being laid off for 6 weeks and I love it but am so busy! I am an account manager for a company that provides connectivity to the GDS (travel agents), 3rd party sites like Orbitz, Travelocity and individual hotel website reservation systems. I've been working 10-12 hour days. I have been to NYC a couple of times for work, I have the NYC hotel accounts and I also have the Canadian Hotels.

We moved from my apartment into a house 2 months ago...I love having a house again...the only noise is from my own family not everyone elses!

Then for the biggest change my DBF who lives with me left a month ago to work for a British security company in Iraq. He has a year contract but will be back home a couple of times, hopefully. I worry about him every day! It is so hard to watch the news! I don't really think all of the money in the world is worth his safety but that is a mute point right now! He can only be in the US for 35 days out of that year because of a tax thing so I will be traveling out of the US some to see him. I have three weeks of vacation so I will be using all of it to be able to travel to meet him somewhere.

And some not so good news about my DD's school...the cruise is during the last week and a half of the school year and that is when finals are and I thought that she would be able to take them early but it turns out that it is very difficult for the teachers and the school district to have the test taken early. I wanted to be able to celebrate her 16th birthday on this once in a lifetime cruise.

So it looks like with all that is going on we will be cancelling our cruise...good news for someone who will get our cabin!

I know that you will all have a wonderful time! I will continue to check in here to see how your plans are coming along and I will anxiously be waiting for live reports from the cruise!

Take care and happy cruising!

V.
