Okay, as usual I seem to know nothing most if the time! What is a skinny cow? We are starting to feel better, but still have sinus thing, DD has a cough and DH still has sore throat! Yes, I agree with the whole work thing. It is really interfering with life! :rotfl2:

We're home
Sick, but home....Wanna go back! NOW!

I'm going to count my self lucky for this trip.

DS started the trip with an ear infection and cold.
DW and brother got stung by jelly fish.
DW picked up a nasty cough that lasted almost 2 weeks (finally subsided over this week end).

My troubles (not sick related thank goodness) were not until we got home.

Apparently we didn't get any rain at home while we were gone. Lost one rose bush, and nearly lost a 2nd. The 1st one wasn't important (it was already stressed and needed to be put out of its missery). However the 2nd is one we planted as a memorial after a miscarrage. It lost almost all it's leaves and had some die-back on a few stems, but with some TLC, it's already starting to produce new growth.

My biggest trouble have been I CAN'T GET THE GRASS CUT. It has rained vertually every day since we got home. I could have cut it Saturday, but opted instead to use the sunny morning to do a bicycle ride (get to start losing those extra pounds I gained on board). I now have grass that is over 6 inches high in places, and the current weather outlook calls for at least 30% chance of rain EVERY DAY until mid June.

A skinny cow is a frozen ice cream treat that is low calories and low or no fat.
They will be in the ice cream "treat" section of your grocery store.

My DD made an observation that I wasn't aware of. Had we sailed in August, we would have lost 6 hours compared to the May cruise.

Think about it. Starting at 9:00am, subtracting the 3 times that we turned back the clocks, it makes it 6:00am. Now set the clock ahead 3 hours and you end up at 12:00pm. That's a six hour difference.

Makes all those tuition payments worthwhile. ;) :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

In looking at our pictures last night I noticed that on 5/28 as we arrived in LA that there were some pretty long faces that morning.

Yes work really gets in the way of life. I hope to see Lynn tomorrow night before she goes to work. I agree with you Ashley.

Regina just think of the extra hours we got by being on the westbound trip. Pretty shroud of us huh.

While on board, we were listing the reasons why we thought the May repo was better than the Aug repo. The list included:
1. Few children (could take DS to Flounders without reservations).
2. We're on the Inagural trip through the canal.
3. Our trip will be about 6 hours longer.
(We gained three hours, the other cruise will lose three hours, we got an extra hour sleep three nights, they will lose an hour sleep three nights).

I consider myself lucky, I gained only 5 lbs on the cruise, I usually gail 10 on a 7 day, so I expected to be more than 10 lbs heavier when I got back.

It has been raining here since we got back, we did get the lawn mowed once, but it hasn't dried enough to do it again. I have worked 57 hours since I got back, today is my first day off. It is snowing as I type!!!!! I broke down and turned the natural gas for the heat back on. (We usually turn it off for the summer, but 56 degrees is too cold in the house) The temp is 40 degrees.

I'm almost done the laundry, I have not yet started on the pictures. Unpacking is also almost done.

Fresh fruit? The only thing really decent here is strawberries and bananas, and I have been living on them the past week.

I also miss everyone. Looking forward to that reunion cruise!

Hello everyone :flower:

I feel like noone understands me ... everyone back home asks how the trip went, but I am afraid to get started on really telling them as it would go one for several hours (just the highlights) ... so I say the "it was great, we had the best time" type of comment ... but it just makes me want to almost cry inside because all I think is that I want to get right back on board RIGHT NOW!! Please tell me I am not alone.

We rebooked onboard for September 2006 Double Dip at Castaway Cay ... is anyone else joining us for that one?? It does make me feel a bit better knowing we have another cruise to look forward to ... but NEXT YEAR ... how will I wait that long!! :earseek:

Leslie ... I am so happy to read you are okay. We have been so worried about you, but didn't know your "board name".

Anyone in the know ... I read in a different thread that Que is gone from DCL:

"From what I understand from the repo cruise, he was accused of acting inappropriate for the cruise line. "

does anyone know what happened? He was a favorite of ours and mentioned that he had come back early from his last leave to be assistant cruise director for a week of training and that his dream was to cruise director for the next DCL ship. Now we hear he is gone. Anyone know anything?

Karen :wave2:

I know exactly what you mean, Karen. When someone asks how my trip was, I wonder how I could possibly tell them how incredible, magical, PERFECT it was. Like you, I just say the usual "It was great. Had so much fun." Etc., etc. Coming back to real life and to work really bites.

I haven't been on the general cruise thread, so I had not heard that about Q. I hope it's not true! He was the best!!!!

I know all too well what you mean! I've been emailing our Assistant server and it about makes me cry every time I get a response. How much I miss him! If only I could figure out how to get a permanant cabin onboard! Think my DH could commute to work? :confused3

That's funny that you bring this up. We had an article in the May 1 Ship of Fools Newsletter on this issue. It turns out it's more complicated that 6 hours :rotfl2:

You do the Math!

With the two Panama Canal cruises going in different directions, we figured out that due to the time changes, there would be a difference in
the amount of time on the ship. Additionally, the Westbound cruise has one more stop than the Eastbound cruise. It got me thinking about what the real difference was. So I did the math!

Adjusting for the time change differences, we will both be on the cruise for 13 24-hour periods or 312 hours. Here are the differences:
Westbound: 8 hours (day 1) + 11.5 hours (day 14) + 312 hours = 331.50 hours
Eastbound: 5 hours (day 1) + 7.5 hours (day 14) + 312 hours = 324.50 hours
Our cruise is 7 hours less than the Westbound.

What about excursions? The Westbound cruise will have 44.75 hours onshore, while the Eastbound cruise will have 50 hours onshore. The grand total is that we will be aboard the Magic a total of 12.25 hours less than the Westbound cruise.

If its all the same to you, I'll stick to DD's numbers. :) Much simpler and less convoluted. :teacher:

I do know about the incident regarding Que. I thought that it had been resolved. I hope that he did accept a position elsewhere, but if he was let go as a result of what occurred, it wouldn't be a surprise.

On the repo cruise Que was outstanding. So what has happened for them to 'offer him another position' or release him? Do tell.

I'm hopeful that he left for good reasons and would rather not discuss the incident that's being mentioned. It wouldn't be fair to him and again, I was under the impression that it had been resolved to everyone's satisfaction.

Hi to all. I was on the cruise thru the canal and am wondering how I can get some of the wonderful shirts the disers had made. Awesome cruise, great people. Thanks

Which general cruise thread- there are so many...???

I meant to say I haven't been on the general cruise pages (not general cruise thread). I've only been on the May 14 thread the past couple of days. Sorry for the confusion!
