:rotfl2: Elaine: Don't know how I could have missed it... there can't be more than 4 stores total in Sun Prairie...:rotfl2: So you are all set then... I know they do have a Wal-Mart too!!

We've been over at our DD all day... she invited Dad to dinner. Mike (her honey:love: ) did all the cooking though...:rotfl: Now I know why she wants to hang on to this one...:rotfl: :rotfl:

 Hope all you Dads had a great Fathers Day. :wizard:

Lynn, at this point I am just winging it. I figure what the heck as long as I like it who cares. I checked out a few of those websites... lots of tips and ideas there so that's a start. I didn't make it to the scrapbook store yet, maybe next weekend, but in the meantime I'm going to keep plugging away. I found a lot of cute stuff at Big Lots and the Dollar Store a while back when I was buying for the exchange on the ship so I do have some supplies to get started.

Renae: Thanks for the lingo lesson....I'll catch on eventually and I'm going to look tomorrow for those two magazines. Do they come out monthly?
How did your Palo meal come out??

Kelli: I'd send you my walker but I'm still using it!! If you can't handle the crutches.. just ask them for a walker. They laughed at me but at least I'm getting around...slowly but surely!!

Jenn: :cake: HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! :bday: Hope you had a good one....do tell what kind of adventure did you have??

Okay... back to catching up!! :teeth:

P.S. We FINALLY have gotten all of our suitcases unpacked! :Pinkbounc

Adrienne still hasn't unpacked. her suitcase is laying on its sid in the hall right now. I unpacked the Saturday we got home - I've been on the road for three consecutive weeks.

This week is an interesting trip. I was at my Company's user conference last week, when the VP of my division walked up to me on Thursday and informed me that I needed to be onsite with a client on Monday. Not a big problem until she informed me that the client is in London.

So, I flew out Saturday night, and arrived yesterday afternoon. I have a nice view of the Tower of London from the hotel, and am getting ready to head to my client.

The weather has been terrific in London the last few days ,temperatures in the high 80's and low 90's ,amazing weather .

Had a great fathers day DS came home from college for the weekend.went back to Cambridge last night. The work is over for this semester but they have one week left for Partying,I guess its a bit like spring break only they have it at the end of their year.

Wimbledon starts today ,and this week looks like being nice ,so maybe life isnt too bad, even if we dont know how long until our next fix of disney .

Elaine, Scott meant to say that the PRICES (not process) at our local scrap book store seem to be fairly consistent with the prices on the websites.

I did buy some paper, some page protectors and a few stickers, and some adhesive. There is a Michaels in Idaho Falls, which is 100 miles away, but we get there every couple of months, so maybe I'll get there in the near future. I did get to the DIS scrapbooking site last night, and wrote down all the websites mentioned, but I have not had a chance to get to any of them yet.

Jenn, hope you had a good birthday!

Lynn

Oh Boy! All this talk about scrapping has me wanting to do some myself

I absolutely KNOW I would go wild, especially with everything out there right now! It's great to know everyone is having such fun with it.

Maybe at some point I'll dive in. Right now it's enough for me to get my pics together, the laundry done and put away! :rotfl2:

Happy Monday... get ready for SUMMER... it's right around the corner! :Pinkbounc

Tony,

Lucky you, view of the Tower is pretty neat. I get to leave today for Riverton, WY. I will probably have a view of the Wyoming State Honor Farm. LOL.... Wanna Trade????..... nevermind, I would just mess up your relationship with your client...

Hi Everyone! Thank you for the Birthday Wishes! It was a great day, we had breakfast by the ocean! There is a place near us called Rockport, its a little town right on the ocean. You can get coffee and watch the boats. There are a bunch of little shops to wander in and out of. So that was my adventure for the day. Not quite as exciting as our two week cruise! But still a great day. I hope everyone has a Happy Monday!

Leslie,

Don't worry, the lingo will come. Remember when you're buying supplies to make sure they're acid free so your hard work won't be in vain. Most SB paper is now, but some stickers aren't and none of our tickets or other stuff is, and it will turn your photos yellow over a shockingly short amount of time. If you want to use tickets and other stuff we got from the cruise, you can put them in clear envelopes and attach them to your page, or you can put larger things in pages of their own, like navigators. If something is special but you don't need the actual item, especially if it's got some bulk to it, it's better to get a color copy and put that in your scrapbook. Just a couple of tips to get you started...

have fun, this is a hobby about you!
Renae

Leslie,

CK comes out monthly, and for now Simple Scrapbooks is 6 times a year, but they plan to go to monthly soon. I like the SS style better for most of my pages, it focuses more on the photos and the story than style. I have been known, several times, to spend 6-8 hours on a page, though, and want it to be perfect, but I don't do that a lot. I'd never catch up! (says this sitting next to 17 BOXES of photos..)

Tony,

There you are! How did you guys do in the last earthquake out there? Any damage in the store? How is the move going? How is London?

Have fun,
Renae

ScottH - Thanks for the offer. I'm fighting with a lot of drama - the 'inidividual' who set up the system here royally botched it, so I have been scrambling to get it working. Doing that with jetlag - not much fun for me, but apparently very entertaining for the rest of the staff!

Renae - we are doing ok. We signed the lease on the new store on Friday, and spent all day painting on Saturday. That was fun - painting all day, then getting on an 11 hour flight to the UK. Adrienne is working with the carpet and alarm people today, and we start moving on Saturday. Our hope is to have the store open for business by Sunday if we can, but Monday may be more likely.

No damage from the earthquake, thankfully. The last one had Adrienne scrambing - she was a bit worried.

I love London. But, while Ashley thinks 90 degrees is nice, I beg to differ. The cab from the airport had no air conditioning, and it was sweltering. I felt like I was back in Orlando. At least it is starting to cool down some.

Ashley,

It sounds like you have some of our weather! I didn't know it ever got that hot over there. Is it humid when it's hot or dry?

Lynn, sounds like you've got a good start going on scrapbook stuff. That's great. Depending on the size you like to use, if you do the smaller 8 1/2x11, you can buy page protectors in bulk at office stores. I do a lot of those style books and they're cheaper overall. You can use basic binders for temporary books while you're working on them, then move the finished book to a nice one.

There are some really good scrapbook stores in Idaho Falls. You're really close to scrapbook 'heaven' there, so you have a good selection of goodies! Watch out, it can take over your house if you're not careful...lol

Renae

When it gets hot here it is Humid. We only get a week or two a year of this so although we do not have Aircon at home,we do in the office and also in our cars so I like it.

We had a violent thunderstorm and heavy rain last night (for about 15 minutes) but nothing like you guys get in Florida.

So although it may be a bit hot for some people ,as I love Florida and also because we have so much miserable weather here I really make the most of weather like this.

Scott, I was going to ask if you were going to Casper....that's where Keith is til Wednesday....

Btw, can you tell me the time it took us to get to Panama, and the distance? You're the only person I know that took a GPS....thanks if you can, thanks anyway if you can't!!!!

Hi,Tony and Ashley!!! Thanks for the offer of the walker Leslie--I'll see how I do when I actually NEED the crutches....

Hi, anyone I missed!!!

Ashley,

Thanks for the info. I grew up in western WA and so I know all about gloomy wet weather, I like Florida much better!

Renae, or any other scrapbooker, can you define the different types of albums, I keep seeing "post bound" albums listed, I assumed that meant one that you put the pages into the album after completion, but then I started seeing page protector packages that included "posts", so now I'm really confused. Thanks for your help.

I can send you a creative memories catalog and that will give you a good idea of stuff along with some different page layouts. See I told you Scott signed you up for the scrapbooking class for a reason!

Anyone else that wants anything, let me know. I do 12 x 12 pages. The 8 1/2 x 11 are just too small for me.

I got another 6 pages scrapbooked yesterday. The funniest picture of the captain, with the four pirate women on his side "Linda, Leslie, Shari and Rachel". Leslie has a pirate look that is priceless!

Keep it simple. That way you don't get frustrated.

I spent a wad at Joann's on Saturday and also picked up my frames for all of Ducky's stuff at 50% off.

Also, go on Joanns.com and you can sign up for their free internet newsletter. They are always having sales that they email me about and do free shipping alot of the time.

Okay, back to work!

Lynn,

Post bound albums are mostly 12x12 size, but there are smaller ones. With those, you have posts about 1" long with page protectors that have holes that go over the posts. When you buy page protectors, sometimes they have extra posts included so you can add pages to your album. They screw onto the original posts and can be added up to about 2" long. Albums usually only come with 10-15 page protectors, so that is a very good thing for people like us who go on trips and take thousands of photos... I had thought all post bound page protector albums were compatible, but I was looking for some the other day and called a store where I was told that some are different, as in, they have holes in different places for different brands. Make sure that you buy protectors made by the brand of the album you buy so they fit. Pioneer is a good brand with basic and nicer albums and decent prices for protectors. I hope this helps some with all the different types of albums out there. Mostly there are three main types: Post bound, strap hinge ( like Creative Memories) and 3 ring (like regular binders) there are variations on that, but they aren't a big part of the market.
