Voting just started this morning. It's definitely still on until next week. Perhaps my link was bad because I had voted already? :confused3 Here's another generic type link, that you click onto the 2 Stranger and a wedding picture and it'll get there from there...

Does that work? :grouphug:

I was able to use this link and vote!!! Good Luck to your BIL!!!

Elaine,

Do you do it on a treadmill? Is the treadmill hooked up to the DVD player somehow? That's an interesting concept... Eric and I are slowly lengthening our walks, and since the weather is still cool, though today hit 80... we love to go for our walks to the nearest resorts. They're so beautiful! I still need to get a pedometer so I can see how the miles add up!

No you just put it in your DVD player and watch it on your TV...you couldn't actually do the DVD I have on a treadmill because you do side steps, kicks, and knee lifts.

Hey Celeste, I'm going to be coming to Chicago for the International Housewares convention in a few weeks. Staying at the Sheraton Towers I think it's called. Can you recommend any places to dine in the immediate area? Being from California, I know I'll be dying there :crazy2: and not wanting to stray too far. Have to go shopping just to buy more warm clothes!

Kendra
I will look into restaurants in the area, just give me a few days. If I wasn't on my vampire shedule (and getting ready for finals for the quarter), I would offer to meet you. Chicago is a great city- I think you will find it very beautiful. However, it is very cold right now- the high yesterday was 8 degrees, with a wind chill of -14....try going out in that weather in scrubs. (May as well stand outside naked.) The food is great- many wonderful restaurants. I don't know anything about this convention....sounds fun though!

Kendra,
I looked into the location of your hotel- if it is the one associated with the convention. You will have about every restaurant on earth, within 5 miles. :thumbsup2 I like many of the restaurants on Rush Street- esp. Hugo's Frog Bar, they have the great steaks from Gibson's and fish. I also like the Brazillian steak houses that are out here, I believe there is one on Michigan.

I would recommend going to http://www.metromix.com and searching for ones that interest you. That is usually what we do. There is also the ghost bar and nine steak house that are suppose to be great- but a very dressy crowd....I am not a fashionista. There is a reason I am a nurse, I get to wear jammies to work.

I hope you have a great time! The convention looks interesting..... :worship: fun stuff!

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE! :surfweb: Bonus day off today. :thumbsup2
Still cold, but will be sunny and above freezing today.
Tippy has been fed and watered and changed the color of some snow, so she is ready for the day also. :dog:
Got to meet some very nice parrotheads at the Michiana phlocking last night. Learned about the infamous Corona Canoe racing. :faint:

We plan on visiting WDW in a few weeks. Haven't been to the parks in 3 years. :sad2: What is new and must see? Think we are only going there for 2 or 3 days. Universal for a day. Gotta go where it's warm before I shoot 6 holes in my freezer. :)

Have a great day.

O.K. don't get too excited. It is just a meeting of Parrotheads. Last night was a bizness (yes with a z) meeting. That particular club also have social phlockings twice a month where no bizness is discussed. Then there are phlockings like the Meeting of the Minds in Key West that last all week and are social and bizness.

O.K. Elaine, explain this one.... someone was talking about Norm MacDonald and "beaver fever". I assume that it is a Canadian thing?

If Kendra likes German food, the last chance for the Berghoff is arriving soon. 1 week. It is down by Marshall Fields.
I think the Sheraton is just south of the Magnificent Mile. A big Disney Store and a Ghiradelli's there along with everything else there. Also up on Wells St east of Michigan is Gino's, if you like deep dish pizza and you don't mind "atmosphere".
Then there's the Billy Goat, which is actually under Michigan Ave. Not health food. Was the inspiration of the Ackroyd/Belushi skit 'Cheeseburga, Cheeseburga'.

Scott not to worry here is a photo taken of 1 of the pups while you are away!!
Pup :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :sunny:

Bob,
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Gino's deep dish pizza. :thumbsup2

Michael has a business trip to Chicago in April or May...we will definately have to make a trip to Gino's! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Yes, Gino's is very good. However, I am not much of a pizza person. Robb eats it atleast once a week, I eat it once every 6 months or so.

I too also like the Billy Goat Tavern, we went there with Winotracy from the 11 night cruise after the December Disney Christmas parade. The cheese burgers were very, very good.

I am learning about the great restaurants up by where I work- I could make suggestions for that area, but you would probably be better off downtown.

I am a fan of Italian beef with hot gardinara. I like mine "wet" which means they double dip the bun and meat in the sauce, which is like au jus. I could live on that stuff.

Gene & Georgetti's is suppose to be a good Italian "steak" house. Kind of old time, but has come highly recommended by the foodies I work with.

There are also many great places for popcorn: cheese, carmel, etc around Chicago. Kind of a fun thing to bring back as gifts to those who did not come with you.

I'm sure more places will come to mind...
