Sorry if this has been asked/answered earlier. The search tool keeps bombing out when I try and search this thread...

Question 1. This will be my first time Scuba diving in the Caribbean. Is a 3mm wetsuit warm enough or do you need something in the 5mm range? Up here in Seattle it's dry suits all the way. Warm water diving will be a pleasant change. Of the two dive excursions planned, what are the advantages of Curacao over Cabo and vice versa? I'd really like to go with DW and kids to explore the Hato caves but that conflicts with the dive excursion. Decisions...decisions...

Thanks for the help!

Rick aka Capt. Morgan
Rick- I can try to answer your wetsuit question. I dive the Carribean with a 3mil suit and still get a little bit cold by the second dive. DH dives with either a 3mil shortie or a dive skin and is fine. We are also west coast divers, so I think we have a sense for your conditions. Trust me, Monterey should be restriced to dry suits only! Even the 7 mil suits aren't enough in my opinion. It's way too cold for me! :cold:

There are a bunch of us from this group doing the dive in Curacao - From memory, Scott H and Lynn, Ken & Shari, DH and I, my parents, and I know there are at least a couple of others. Not sure about Cabo, though I believe Scott may be diving there? We are not, since it's only a one tank, and it will definitely be colder conditions.

Hope this helps out a little.

WHEN YOU WISH UPON A STAR :wizard:

When You Wish Upon A Star
Magic Happens From A Far
UPS Delivery Trucks
Will Come To You

If your heart is in your dreams
Your requests are not extreme
When you post upon the boards
as DIS-ers do

Soon you find
Your days and nights pass by
Without the reason why
You have no tickets

Like a bolt out of the blue
Brown trucks come to see you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true!

Sorry Scott- my description is in the above message....and I don't tan well- so I won't be tan.

LINDA- if you get your documents before me, I know what I want!!! ONE CAN of APPLE BEER....which isn't really beer for those of you not from Utah.

Yeah....well at the rate we are going we'll both be bringing something for each other since neither one of us seems to be doing any document dances.

I was signed up (4 of us) for the El Mercado & Cliff Diving excursion, but I have decided I can do this excursion myself using taxis. I did not want to bus all over for 2 hrs just to get to the cliff diving. EVERYTHING I read shows you can easily take a taxi to the cliff divers, get into the restaurant, order lunch and see the show.

So, as of yesterday, I cancelled 4 spots -- you may want to call back and see if they are available for the El Mercado one.

Thanks SandraLee and everyone else who offered advice. You guys are the best. :grouphug:

Harry and I have decided to do the taxi thing, too. I'm not interested in paying to shop and I'm sure we can get a good lunch on our own. And while we could keep trying to get into the DCL excursion, going off on our own will be more of an adventure, so that's what we decided to do. :moped:

I called DCL today and tried to sign up for this but was told it was sold out. Do you think there's any chance they might open more spots or be saving some for booking on ship? Anyone have any advice on how we can get into this sold out excursion?

Beth

If you can't sign up, my travel guides tell me it is very easy to do this on your own. Just grab a cab and head on over.
