I called DCL today and tried to sign up for this but was told it was sold out. Do you think there's any chance they might open more spots or be saving some for booking on ship? Anyone have any advice on how we can get into this sold out excursion?

Beth , there is a chance that there will be some openings for this excursion. When I booked this earlier, I was told that there were spots held back just for concierge booking. It would be safer to book then at that time regardless. I did book then, but , it seems possible that if concierge doesn't book up their spots, some may become available to the general passergers.

LOL Beth!! WE posted at the same time about the same excursion!

If there are 60 steps, you may be able to get mine.

It has also been reccommended that you get a taxi and go on your own to the divers. See the main board about that.

Question 1. This will be my first time Scuba diving in the Caribbean. Is a 3mm wetsuit warm enough or do you need something in the 5mm range? Up here in Seattle it's dry suits all the way. Warm water diving will be a pleasant change. Of the two dive excursions planned, what are the advantages of Curacao over Cabo and vice versa? I'd really like to go with DW and kids to explore the Hato caves but that conflicts with the dive excursion. Decisions...decisions...

Question 2. What is the closest car rental agency when we dock in LA? I just got off the phone with budget and they said their office is 12 miles away from where we dock. Anything closer? We're going to rent a car for a couple of days and explore the area a bit before heading back to the great northwest.

Beth, I would call daily to check on availability (if this is something you really would like to do). Also, when you go to the ship go to Guest Services FIRST and see if there are openings.

Rick, Will try to help out with this one. You are in for a treat. On CC I would expect the water to be in the mid to upper 70's. Curacao should be in the low 80's. Cabo not sure what to expect there but temp wise it will be cooler.
If you have to choose one or the other I would go with Curacao, We spent a week there last May and really enjoyed the diving. Also the Vis should be better than Cabo. Cabo is only a one tank dive.

I am a ninny and will have my 5,4,3, full suit, I think most folks would be comfortable with a shorty 3mm.

Lynn and I will be diving at both of those ports. Also Dive Quest on 5/12 with Ken and Shari.

Are you familiar with Harry Truitt’s Dive Centers, or Thunder Reef Divers??

I was signed up (4 of us) for the El Mercado & Cliff Diving excursion, but I have decided I can do this excursion myself using taxis. I did not want to bus all over for 2 hrs just to get to the cliff diving. EVERYTHING I read shows you can easily take a taxi to the cliff divers, get into the restaurant, order lunch and see the show.

So, as of yesterday, I cancelled 4 spots -- you may want to call back and see if they are available for the El Mercado one.

Let's see here- I am 5'5, with brown hair atleast for now (naturally blond-wanted to test the blonds have more fun theory- they don't), average weight, and blue eyes. I am in my 30s(31). My husband and son have brown hair and brown eyes. My son is 6. My son's name is Noah and I plan on being there pretty early(maybe 7am)...I haven't made a PS....anyone know if I need one.
