Ok, could anyone who happens to be talking to dcl today ask them my question? I'm curious how many different answers we will get. I asked whether the boxes we are shipping ahead will count towards the luggage limit. She first said yes, because we have to get the boxes and take them through customs with our other luggage. I told her that friends who were on the cruise were told it would be delivered to the stateroom and we didn't need to pick them up ahead of time. She then changed her mind and said yes, that's how its done. So, I'd like to know (1) do the boxes count towards the luggage limit, and (2)do we have to pick them up somewhere or will they be in our rooms already. I'd hate to go skipping onto the boat and have my boxes sitting in an office somewhere waiting for me. Typical of DCL, I am expecting at least 7 variations on the answer.

I was not aware that DCL had a luggage limit... I know they only give you two tags per person in your docs... (IF YOU GET THEM)... but the porters at the terminal will give you as many more as you need. Christmas Cruisers can tell you that we knew of a certain "princess" that reportedly had 24 pieces of checked luggage. Joe and I had 6 pieces for the two of us for that cruise... plus a rolling carryon and a tote each... and then there were the pins..... This is why I am in such a dilemma with this cruise... we have to come back on a plane that DOES have luggage limits!! :earseek:

Chicken Pox must be going around. The lady that sits next to me (who's in her 50's) is currently off work with Chicken Pox. It's a good thing that she worked at home most of last week because I know for sure that right now I'd be scratchin'

Ugh! Tell me about it! I had them at the "tender" age of 26! Much thanks to my DH for that one, since he had the shingles, which made me get the chicken pox. :sad2:

Sorry but it's been decided that everyone, including the men, are to wear the outfit from the I Love Lucy grape stomping episode.

Prepare to hike up your skirt, slip off your shoes and jump in the barrel. :earseek:

That look shouldn't be too hard to duplicate.

Anybody know the actual cabin count for sail away gifts???
I am printing off the list right now- ten pages...now I have to count.

Also any differences between the 3 and 5 pm sail away parties?

Isn't the actual sail away party around 5? (The DCL one)

The 3:00pm party is our Dismeet and will just be us. the 5:00pm party is the official DCL sailaway party for everyone.

I actually talked to Kelly at DCL in Cape Canaveral where we are shipping the boxes. (Sorry, I can't find her phone number easily). I posted the information she gave me which Peter added to the daily list. According to Kelly when I spoke with her she said if we mark each box accordingly the boxes we ship will be delivered to our stateroom on the ship on the date of sailing. She is actually in the warehouse where all the stuff is sent for the ship. She did not say anything about "customs" and I believe we don't have any "customs" per se to go through as we are leaving Port Canaveral. Never have before. The only people this might apply to is anyone who shipped stuff from another country, but my understanding is those packages would have gone through customs before being delivered to DCL.

SO........................packages in your stateroom..............................you don't pick them up anywhere.....................if you don't have a stateroom assignment write "pending" or something like that and they will find what lifeboat suite you have and deliver it to you there!!!!

No idea on the cabin count, but I do know we are having two sailaway parties because not everyone could make it to one or the other. Several of us wanted to be at the front of the ship for the actual sailaway, so we will be missing the second party. And yes, the second sailaway is during the DCL party time, but up on Deck 10.

If anyone else needs it- I got a rough count of 108 cabins....

Hello all-

Just some quick updates on the wine tasting event. We are over 115 people signed up for attendance, so we are going to close the sign-ups at this time. If you are unsure if you're signed up, feel free to PM me.

I neglected to mention yesterday that Ken (kpros) has also been working very hard on the coordination efforts for this event, so I wanted to thank him as well for his time. Ken is already involved in so many things for this cruise, he really is "The Man!" Thanks Ken, and sorry for my oversight yesterday...

There will be several folks attending that either don't drink or don't drink wine. You are all still very welcome to attend, please don't feel like you shouldn't go because the event is full or because you choose to drink something else. This is also a great social event! :disrocks:

I have not received any questions for the wine talk...Please PM me if you have any questions about wine. My father is in the wine industry and will be giving a talk to those interested during the event.

From the DCL website "terms and conditions"
Baggage, Valuables, and Other Possessions
Each Guest may bring aboard the ship a reasonable amount of clothing and personal effects without charge, not to exceed two bags per person.

That's what had me worried! Since I have three kids, I think I'll be ok on the limit, but if the boxes counted I'd be getting darned close. I'm guessing we'll have at least four or five suitcases for the five of us, plus diaper bag, day bag, bag of baby food,etc.... I love the huge suitcases, but they take up so much room in the stateroom that I'd rather carry more duffel type bags that can go under the bed. However, if they didn't enforce the luggage limit on prior cruises, I can't imagine they'd start with a two week cruise! Surely their definition of "reasonable amount" would be larger for this one. :earseek:
