I am with ya on the free upgrade theory, we will see. Chances are probably equal to winning the lottery.

Peter, We will never see a coconut in the mail, they know we are hooked, no need to waste advertising money on us.

Wow! Had a lot to catch up on! DH was transferring data from our old pc to our new one, and I didn't get the pc time to catch up on things!

We've done 3 DVC cruises!
:goodvibes 08/98 - Disney's first Cruise 4 day - Maiden Voyage on the Magic
:goodvibes 02/03 - DVC Member Cruise 4 day - Wonder - GREAT CRUISE
:goodvibes 01/04 - Took family on 3 day for my 50th b'day - Wonder - FUN
:goodvibes 05/05 - DVC first Panama Canal Crossing - WOW!!!

Yes, we'd love to do the Maiden Cruise on the new ship Disney Dreams! Sign us up!  I figure by the time it's ready to sail, we may have paid off the Panama Canal Cruise, and all the extra purchases! :rotfl2:

As far as the coconut mailing... the only thing I can think of is that I've answered several surveys???

Hello all...just back from Texas. Great trip, no snow there. Met Fanmickmo...was fun!

Anybody looking for good pillows...Sharper Image has their "heat sensitive" foam pillows, like the posturepedic kind of pillows, half price if you buy something else. Check out theirTravel Pillow. We bought 2 along with a watch battery since you have to buy something to get them 50% off. I was in the store making a purchase, not online, and the guy said I needed to buy something for each pillow. I said the website would allow me to buy 5 (or more) if I wanted, so he let me buy the 2 pillows half price plus a watch battery (the cheapest thing in the store).

We bought some TSA approved luggage locks in January, they work great. TSA has keys that open them. I'm sure some thieves do, too. We bought the ones that show whether or not they lock has been opened by TSA. It's a great way to know what goes on with your luggage once you leave it. I'm still waiting for my $100 shoe to be replaced from 2 years ago.

ANYWAY, one of our bags was opened this time...the indicator was red, and there was the little TSA card in the bag. I think it's great, this way we are alerted that our bags were opened and we can check to see if something was missing, say, oh, a shoe...cause you know ONE shoe is just so helpful on semi-formal night... Too many times our bags were opened with no note or whatever...gives some piece of mind. We have found the locks for about $10 each. Just make sure they have the indicator, not all of them do.

CRUISE SOUVENIR DVD
*************************************************
Here's the list I have so far of people who would either be interested in purchasing (at cost) a DVD souvenir of the cruise and/or would be willing to send me their photos and video footage for its creation. When the cruise is over, I'll post a message on this list (assuming it's still here) with the details for sending me materials and placing orders. Depending on what all I receive in the way of materials, I'd estimate this being completed some time in July. If you want to be sure you're contacted along the way, please email (nejthelion@earthlink.net) or PM me. Please don't just post a message to the thread because I'm afraid I'll miss someone.

NOTE: This is for interest/involvement/contact only. Orders will be taken at a later date once I can set the price. Also, I can use still photos and VHS/Hi-8 footage as well - not limited to digital media.

I won't be able to give an exact price until after the cruise, but I imagine it will be in the $5-$10 range (including basic shipping). I'll set one DVD price for everyone (to be multiplied by the number of DVDs ordered) and most likely one base shipping price so as not to charge extra to those who will need me to return photos or video or who live farther away. Additional shipping options (insurance, delivery confirmation) will be available as add-ons.

I've decided not to worry about music copyrights for this project so it's up to you all not to get me in trouble I am open for music suggestions. Here are some so far:

Hi everyone...

OK, I need a little help. In my infinite wisdom of paying off my cruise - YAY, I failed to be notified that even though we were way ahead of our payment deadline time, that they could not add insurance to our cruise once we had paid in full, so when I called this morning after deciding that 2 weeks on the open seas with 4 little peeps picking up who knows what from whom and where....they would not let us add insurance because we were paid in full...

It didnt make much sense, as we were not within any crazy 30 or 60 day period, but whatever. So, they suggested I buy outside insurance. As I have only ever cruised once before, I have no idea who to call.

So, after a long intro, my question is:

• Have you ever purchased outside (non-Disney) insurance for a cruise?
•*Who do you reccommend?
• Are there different kinds of coverage? What do I need to know before I call
• If you have ever made a claim on said co., how difficult was the process.

I guess I am most worried about illness while on the ship, not necessarily weather or cancellation.

I appreciate any input from you experienced cruisers....thanx,

Michelle

Michelle,

I just saw a posting regarding this topic this morning on the main board. Here is the part about insurance. Hope this helps.

Quote: "First thing to do is NOT book the insurance thru Disney. Assess America is the company they use and you can book thru them directly with their AAA Family plan. You do NOT have to belong to AAA and if you get an agent who insists on it, just tell them you want to talk to a sup or call back. Your DD will be covered for free and the rates are much lower than thru DCL. Add up the cost of your entire vacation to have coverage from one company."

And..when you do speak with the insurance agency..be sure you know what is covered before making the purchase. good luck!

CRUISE NEWS

A lot is happening aboard the Magic and Wonder, and we have the latest news.

DRESS POLICY CHANGE

Jeans are now acceptable attire under the revised "Cruise Casual" dress policy. It is still requested that guests do not wear shorts, swimwear or tank tops to the dining rooms.

The attire is determined by the day, not the restaurant with the exception of Palo. The seven night cruise has a formal night, semi-formal night, pirate/tropical night and four "Cruise Casual" nights.

On the 3 and 4 day cruises there is one night where "dress-up" attire is requested. Men are asked to wear a jacket while ladies are asked to wear either a dress or nice pantsuit.

WEST COAST CRUISES

Disney Cruise Line is strongly recommending that all guests, including U.S. citizens, who are cruising aboard the Magic while it's based in California have passports. This includes guests who are on the two repositioning cruises.

For information in obtaining a passport, here's a link to the official government website . Please allow 6 weeks for processing. Expedited service is available for an additional fee.

TRANSFER POLICY/PRICE CHANGES:

As of 1/3/05 Disney Cruise Line has raised the prices of their transfers. The only exception is for land/sea package holders. The price has changed from $69.00 to $59.00 to reflect the new Magical Express program. THIS REDUCED PRICE ONLY APPLIES TO GUESTS TRAVELING FROM 5/5/05 THROUGH THE END OF THIS PROMOTION.

NEW SHOW ON THE MAGIC

An exclusive show is debuting on the Disney Magic. Scheduled for the first night, it follows the tale of a young cruise guest who dreams of becoming the ship's captain. Mickey, Minne and a host of Disney characters guide him on his journey of discovery.

Intertwined in this musical presentation are helpful hints and an overview of the events and activities that guests can enjoy during their voyage. The ship's officers will be introduced as part of this program.

PALO DRESS CODE

During dinner, gentlemen will be required to wear a dress shirt. Gentlemen wearing polo shirts, t-shirts, Tommy Bahama style shirts, etc will not be allowed admittance. Jackets and/or ties are still recommended but not required. Notices will be in the Personal Navigator, on the Palo reservation card and a sign outside the elevators on deck 10 will contain this dress advisory. The Resort Casual dress code for both the brunch and high tea remains unchanged.

CHILDREN’S ACTIVITIES

Andy’s Birthday Party (5-7 year olds) - It’s Andy’s birthday and you’re invited to join in the festivities. The kids will draw and color a picture of a favorite friend from “Toy Story”. There’s face painting and they can “Pin the Hat on Woody.”

Brother Bear (3-4 year olds) - Both instructional and fun, the little ones will learn the story of “Brother Bear” through a variety of activities. They’ll make bear masks, walk through the “woods” and play a memory game on the memory game wall.

Carnival Welcome Party (8-12 year olds) - Step right up and try your hand at a fun Carnival game. Ring toss and ping-pong toss are just a couple of the activities planned. No carnival is complete without face painting. It’s a great welcome that the kids are sure to enjoy.

Conversation with an Officer (8-12 year olds) - A fascinating look at careers at sea for the youngsters. They ships officers will explain his/her duties. It’s the perfect opportunity for the budding sailors aboard the ship to learn about the staff. Hands on activities are included as they learn marine knot tying.

Crabby Crafts & Island Arts (3-12 year olds) - Tailored to the different age groups, the kids will make crafts with a sea life theme. An ocean matching game is part of the fun.

Pop Stars Party (8-12 year olds) - Lights, camera, action! The kids will feel like VIPs as they have their close-up shot taken, make a videotape and leave their handprints on the wall of stars. A group photo is part of the fun.

Ocean Moves (3-7 year olds) - The little ones will have a ball as they’re led in exercises with a nautical theme. By imitating creatures of the deep, they’ll dance and move about in this fun activity.

Salty Sea (3-12 year olds) - With the specific age groups in mind, the activities in this science program are designed to teach the children how ships stay afloat. They’ll make their own salt water and learn about the dynamics behind flotation.

Stack Stars (teens) - Does your teen have a special talent? They can perform before the camera in this talent competition. The other teens can vote for their favorite “Cruise Idol.”

Toy Story Welcome Aboard Party (8-12 year olds) - Two of the most beloved characters from” Toy Story”, Jesse and Woody, will be welcoming the kids to the Oceaneers lab. An evening of “Toy Story” themed activities is planned.

CAPTAINS WELCOME RECEPTION & CHARACTER GREETINGS – DISNEY MAGIC
The Captain’s Welcome Reception is now being held on deck 3. Character Greetings will take place at Preludes.

SMOKING AREAS

Diversions is now allowing smoking throughout the day in the bar area of the club. The exception to this policy will be when there are children’s programs scheduled in this area.

HAIR WRAPPING
In addition to hairbraiding, guests on the Disney Magic will able to get hairwraps. The fee is the same as at Disney World - $1.50 per inch.

NASSAU DEPARTURE
Beginning in 8/19/04 and until 2/20/05, the Disney Wonder three night cruise will depart Nassau at 7:30pm in order to better facilitate the popular Tropical Deck Party.

STATEROOM TELEVISION
There are now seven movie channels to choose from while viewing movies from your stateroom.

60’s FAMILY DANCE PARTY

A fun family event where guests can dance to the live band performing favorite Beatles tunes. The Mop Tops are joined by the cruise staff who are wearing their favorite 60’s styles. (This party is held on the Disney Wonder 4 day cruise only at 7:45pm.)

SODA PROGRAM
Self serve soda dispensers have been installed at the deck 9 beverage station, Topsiders, Beach Blanket Buffet and on Castaway Cay by Cookies BBQ. Soft drinks are complimentary at these locations. Soda served at full serve bars/lounges will still have a fee.

COFFEE MACHINE – PRELUDES PANTRY
For guests required to go through Immigration while onboard, a coffee machine has been placed at Preludes Pantry.

DISNEY MAGIC – CASUAL DINING
Casual dining in Topsiders aboard the Magic is now full serve instead of buffet at dinner.

HOUSEKEEPING
You can wrap yourself in an oversized bath sheet once the current towels are phased out and replaced. All linens, towels and bed pillows are being upgraded.

MERCHANDISE
Fans of the Golden Mickeys show will find statues and pins available in the gift shop

Someone want to try to explain how to get a cheaper rate with accessamerica directly?

I tried using their online form to get an estimate, and it came out to $783. But when I check the cost of insurance through DCL, it's about $325

Hi everyone...

Michelle

I bought insurance from AAA for one cruise(they did not book it) and from Mouse Ears Vacations for another (They did book it).

I collected on Access America in December when, after getting thoroughly greased up by the spa ladies, I slipped in my bathroom in the stateroom and whacked my ankle on the door frame...I took my ankle to the ship doc and, $100.00 later, he pronounced my ankle bruised, recommended I keep my foot elevated and iced. I got my $100 back from Access America. Paid $100 for the insurance and sure glad I did....

It only takes one slip and that insurance pays for itself, whomever you get it from.....

DRESS POLICY CHANGE

Posted by heathercat on the main board:
PALO DRESS CODE

During dinner, gentlemen will be required to wear a dress shirt. Gentlemen wearing polo shirts, t-shirts, Tommy Bahama style shirts,Grass Skirts, etc will not be allowed admittance. Jackets and/or ties are still recommended but not required. Notices will be in the Personal Navigator, on the Palo reservation card and a sign outside the elevators on deck 10 will contain this dress advisory. The Resort Casual dress code for both the brunch and high tea remains unchanged
Wow They must Be reading the Boards.....

Thank Goodness there is nothing in the dress code about grass skirts!!!!!!!

Travel Insurance, we always buy it for cruises and other foreign travels, along with a supplemental dive/travel insurance policy we have through PADI, also have the Amex policy, cheap if something should happen.

Used Travel Guard and submitted a claim when Lynn fell and broke the camera on the way to Tanzania. Covered the replacement camera. Very happy with Travel Guard, they won me over.

I got a cocunut from DCL today! :cool1: :Pinkbounc

If only I had a Mickey Tiki Aloha dress from Disney Direct and it would be like sitting on the beach.

...Ok, maybe not. Temps are dropping here :cold: IS it time to go yet?? :rotfl:

We had to purchase our travel insurance within 14 days of booking and we went through TravelSafe and hope never to have to use it
