I'm so jealous of everyone's many Disney cruise vacations. Our list is quite short:

Nov 2004 - 4 day Disney Wonder (to see if we would like a cruise)
May 2005 - 14 day Disney Magic

We're also going from a 4 day cruise (May 2003) to the 14 day! cruise. Considering that I am "organizationally challenged" :teeth: , I feel overwhelmed at the though of packing for my DH, DD, DS and I. I've been reading with interest all of the discussion about baggage weight limits, etc. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled to the discussion board for good packing tips.

We are short on cruise time too....

• We have only been on the Wonder 3 day

• We were supposed to go on a 7 day in 2001, but then 9/11 happened, my sister was pregnant and our sailing was in the last 2 weeks of when DCL will let you medically...and then they wont let new babies for a while...so that one got shot out of the water.

Now here comes 14 days....and we would probably be game for an inaugural sailing of a new ship.

Oh well...When we did it, we said that 3 days was way too short. We just felt like we were settling in and we had to get off.

Although we do laugh that this will tell us if 14 days is too long!! I dont think that will be possible.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Best,
Michelle aka NEM

Only two cruises for us, 3 day Magic in Oct 98 and 4 day Wonder in June 2000. We are so overdue!!!

Speaking of baggage....

I too am stressing. I usually fly continental when I can (which gives me 3 bags & 2 carry ons) but now I am going American to use up the last of some frequent flyer miles and take advantage of nonstop and they only give 2 bags and 1 carry on... - and that is for 1st class!!! There is no way thats gonna happen... I had no idea....I would have probably gone Continental, but I honestly did not even think about it when I booked tickets.

Oh well, i guess I will be either fedexing or paying for an extra bag or two....bummer....

But on the good side...Once we dock in port I drive home, so I can shop for the whole trip and not worry about flying it home!

Looking for that silver lining,

Michelle aka NEM

Jeff and I did a 3 day in Nov 2000, Cruisetoberfest 2003, a 7 day in Oct 2004 and now this....

We did a four day trip on the magic August 2000
Seven day Western 5th July 2003
fourteen Day Repositioning cruise 14th May 2005

:drinking1

We were on the:
June 28th, 2002 7 Day Eastern
July 5th, 2003 7 Day Western

We will be on the:
May 14th, 2005 14 Day PC Crossing

Future Bookings:
TBD

I was trying to catch up on the reading from yesterday. I have a copy of an article from Business FLorida Today from February 3, 2005 (which I happened to print out from the internet. It is entitled:

3RD DISNEY SHIP ON THE DRAWING BOARD

It says that DCL is planning on adding a third cruise ship to the Disney Fleet. Here is the quote:

"We have the designs for the new ship," Walt Disney World President Al Weiss said. "It's just a matter of waiting for a favorable exchange rate."

It goes on to say that until the dollar improves against the euro, that Weiss said now is not the best time to be building a ship. Weiss and other "high ranking" Disney officials were in Orlando on Wed. to meet with Central Florida business leaders. The only thing keeping DCL from adding a third ship is the money according to the article.

Analysts say it is worth the wait, rather than investing the possibly hundreds of millions of dollars into a new ship now.

Okay, you can see the article, but now it is in the archives, so you would have to pay for it. It is at Floridatoday.com Business Section February 3, 2005.

Also, when we were on the Magic for the 10 day Christmas Cruise, the captain told us the plans were completed and they were just waiting for a favorable exchange rate, so this article kinda just confirms what he had already told us.

Today in the Sunday paper our $1 was only worth 75 cents in Europe. Ouch!

Okay, I am NOT a trivia buff, but here is probably my one and only trivia question I'll ever ask:

What was the original name of the island that is now known as
Disney's Castaway Cay?

Gorda Cay or something similar to that spelling.

Our sailings

6 Magic / Wonder Cruises to Bahamas
1 Eastbound Caribbean
1 Westbound Caribbean

Don't ask me when. It was much, much too long ago. We need this 14 day sailing.

Hi all-

Just a friendly reminder that this Friday is the LAST day for me to receive your payment for the iron on patches. So, if you haven't gotten a check in the mail, NOW is the time to do it!

Thank you!

Kendra :cheer2:

I think there are several of us can and will help there. Plus another philosophical thought I live by, “If you are not having fun , it’s your own fault.”

Not entirely. I don't think cruises are a good choice for me as a single person, especially one who doesn't like to sit still on vacation.

I have many friends on this ship and I'll get to traverse the Panama Canal - I don't know anyone else who's done this. I want to also say I've been someplace I've never been before.

And while I will miss the Adventurers Club, I'm bringing some video from there with me - and I will get my fix on May 13th before sailing.

Margaret! Have you seen Castaway Cay yet? I know Kelli has...

Upgrade question... Is there any rhyme or reason to getting upgrades? We've never had the luck to get one.. but now with Gty status we're hoping. Does your TA have anything to do with it or does it come from DCL randomly? When I paid off the cruise I told them since it was our anniversary on the 14th... that if DCL wanted to upgrade us to the Walt Suite that would be fine...:rotfl2: I'm sure the whole TA office had a nice laugh...:rotfl: :rotfl: I'd be happy with a 9!!! Really though.. I'm just happy to be on the ship! 9 weeks... close enough to start getting packing anxiety!!

Hey Leslie,

In my opinion you and Joe deserve that upgrade - congrats on your upcoming anniversary! Didn't you tell them you were the distinguished winner of the Gloria Gaynor lip sync contest???

You were the best Gloria Gaynor we've seen in our 7 DCL cruises! Will there be a repeat performance for those not on the 10 day Christmas Cruise??? Have you been practicing "I will survive..."?

Torey and I are green with envy were not on this cruise - we know you will have a great time and just kidding about the Gloria Gaynor stuff! LOL Have a great time!

John

STRESSED

Big straw hat, banana drink
I can't remember what it is I think
And my, my, my - my key lime pie

I think I relieved a lot of stress this weekend. Not much accomplished.
But I was at Castaway Cay for a while today. Drinking a Monkey Around, listening to tropical music. Relaxing. Ahhhhhhh.

Oh well back to reality tomorrow.

WHAT?

I could live in the spa... Even if I don't get any treatments (ask me about the seaweed wrap!) I still buy the Rainforest Room. It is such a great place to meditate, relax and unwind. Those heated tile lounge chairs are the best. And the citrus steamroom is great.

Do yourself a favor and branch our a bit. At least into the Rainforest Room! A treatment would be good too.

Peter, I believe you would have to download an MP3 file and burn it onto a disk to play on your CD player. We used to use Kaaza, but don't know if that is around anymore after all the lawsuits. Aimee has one of those IPOD things now that is so cute, compact, and holds lots of music. Maybe someone else can suggest a site to download from?

We accomplished our first cruise clothes shopping today! I'm sure there will be many more "last minute" trips to the mall. I don't even want to think about hauling the luggage.

Hey John!!
You are never going to let me live that down are you?? :rotfl2: And now you're stalking me on this thread.... :earseek: Seriously... wish you and Torey were coming along on this cruise too. We had so much fun at Xmas. You never know when "Gloria" will show up again... depends on how mellow I am from the spa and how many margaritas I've had at showtime...LOL....:rotfl: :rotfl:
Are you coming down to WDW any time soon? Would love to meet up with you guys!!
