Who is the author on Cursing the Panama Canal - might want to read it before we leave.

I'm not sure who would admit to Cursing the Panama Canal ( :rotfl: ) but I found that PANAMA CANAL by Cruise Ship by Anne Vipond to be very interesting not only for the canal info. but also for its info. on the ports of call, of which Cabo is one.....

I also read a reference called
Baja California, a Lonely Planet Survival Kit by Wayne Burnhardson and found it to be to be very useful when I stayed there.

Would anyone know if it is possible to walk from the ship to EL MERCADO CLIFF DIVERS ? If so..how far..thanks sharon

If you are speaking of the divers at La Quebrada, I would say no. I'm looking at a map of Acapulco and the divers are located about a 10- minute ride from the terminal at El Fuerte San Diego...Some of it, according to my little book, is a VERY strenuous walk (cliffs, you know) and the taxi ride fare per person one way from the terminal is $8.00.

No news to report regarding the surprise. I tried to tell DH about the cruise on Valentine's Day. We talked about cruising this year, and I could tell that he had no interest at all. I even tried to entice him with a space shuttle launch. Vacation wise, all he can talk about his guy's only ski trip next month.

So I am now in Plan B mode. I am arranging carpool substitutes and before school care so that I can cruise solo. Not exactly solo as I have my DIS family.

Thanks Llinda for the information as well as proofreading my message. I'll have to head over to the book store later today.

Hello my fellow cruisers!!! :goodvibes

Linda, You are the best!!! Our very own Dis Navigators....Wow so cool!! :cool1:

I got my order in for Jeff's design on Zazzle...yeah!!!!

Also booked our hotel by the airport for the night before we fly out. It was a little difficult finding a place that will let us leave the car there for 16 days without charging a fortune . One more thing off my list.

Of course the biggest challenge will be getting Mom's clothes to fit into two suitcases ;) I love her but the women is a clothes horse :earseek:

Well it seems that my allergies just can't wait anymore. Thanks to the :sunny: we have been having the flowers and trees are starting to bloom :headache: So looking foward to two weeks of no sneezing or sinus headaches...gotta love the ocean...no pollen!!! :boat:

I'm rambling...I'll check in later with an update on the Sailaway list :flower:

Yeah, I got the title of the book we read wrong.
I think we are talking about the same book. History of the canal and info on all the ports. We are just looking for more info....

Panama Canal by Cruise Ship: Complete Guide to Cruising the Panama Canal
Anne Vipond

Its a great book, cool pull out map of the canal!

Oh Lesley, sorry that DH doesn't think this trip is the be all, end all. But we sure are glad to hear you are still going with us! Are you on main or late seating? You could always sit with us for dinner, we're on late seating.

Hi everyone

I forgot who did the "Reposition This" shirt design on Cafepress. The reason I ask is I would really like to get the design on the back of a T-shirt, but the cafepress people say that only the original person can make that change to what is availible.

I see that a lot of people are bringing things for the DIS members when we're on the cruise. I would like to bring something as well and was just wondering how this is going to work ... where will they be distributed, how many would I need, what sorts of things are people bringing? We're really starting to get excited (as many of you are judging by the number of posts in this thread ;-).

Christine

I'd like to bring mini flashlight keychains for everyone. Sure helps my "old" eyes to read a menu in dim light, and I think the kids would like them. Good idea?

Ok quick post, Jeff did the store on cafe press for the repo this (it was TDC Nala's design) we can put the design on the back of the shirt, but we have to open another store, if there is interet we can do that.

I also receive some email requesting the "All I got is this lousey t-shirt" to come off of the other shirt. That's not really feasible as it is imbedded in the design, it's not simply an over print. Jeff would have to rework the entire design. Sorry about that, it's just not going to happen in the forseeable future.

That's it...

That'll be a wonderful idea. If you're crafty you can get fine point craft markers/ paint markers and put names or our sail dates on them....

That's a great idea! We actually have a mini one attached to the strap on our camera to use at night!

I've seen it done two ways:...Those who have a good memory for faces just distribute them at the sailaway parties as they recognize folks from this DISgroup.

I am distributing at the sailaway parties using stateroom numbers and the assistance of a 9-year old pseudo-Easter Bunny. Those we don't nab at sailaway will have bags hung on their doors for all neighboring pirate thieves to share...

I'm bringing as many as my budget will allow for that....I'm having so much fun being inventive and crafty that I have no idea of the total cost...or the total number....

By the way, aside from Quincy (DD4 of Q's my Princess) are there any other DD Ariel fans out there?

As far as Cafe Press clothing sizes go, make sure you check the size chart. Each item is different (some are listed as being on the smaller size, some are listed as being on the larger size). For whatever you're ordering, don't forget to check that first to see if you should order a size up, a size down, or your normal size.

Don't know about Zazzle.

Okay, the, flashlights it is! Peter, would you please add that to your list? Thanks!

My DD6 - Becca is a big Ariel fan. We missed seeing her at WDW by 2 minutes and I was bummed the last time. But, we still love her...
