Got an email from DCL today regarding formal nights. They are currently planning two formal nights and one semi-formal night. They can't tell us what night each will be yet.

Wow, hard to believe that on a two week cruise there would only be two formal nights and one semi-formal.

For those who took the 10-day xmas cruise, how many formal and semi-formal nights did you have?

Now we will just have to have a Canadian tell us what it is!

:cake:

Hi All....A Canadian checking in.... here is the official explanation of Victoria Day (check out the Canadian explanation after the "official" explanation!!):

OFFICIAL EXPLANATION

Victoria Day

In Canada, the celebration of Victoria Day occurs every year on Monday, prior to May 25th. It is the official celebration in Canada of the birthdays of Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth II. Victoria Day was established as a holiday in Canada West (Now Ontario) in 1845, and became a national holiday in 1901. Before Victoria Day became a national Holiday, people had celebrated Empire Day , beginning in the 1890s as Victoria approached her Diamond jubilee in 1897.

(I don't know why this is coming in underlined - I guess 'cause I cut & pasted!)

CANADIAN'S EXPLANATION

We Canadian's call Victoria Day the May 2-4 weekend (you know beer 2-4...ha ha) - it's also a holiday from work - yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's kinda like your 4th of July celebrations!!!!! My Mom & I will decked out in our Canadian attire on May 23 in celebration of Victoria Day...look for us on the ship we won't be hard to miss we'll be in red & white ( :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: )!!!!

Most assuredly it would be Tropical Night, …. For the Grass Skirt Fraternity of ????, The Royal Order of Coconuts, or something like that. Or it could be Castaway Cay Sail Away attire for that Deck Party. Don’t forget we have to get Bob in on this…..

Maybe we could get the Adventures Club to be a Sponspr???

Got the Zazzle shirts and part of my Pirate attire. Not a costume as I am an over 40 victim of fate, just 200 years too late.

Get Bob in on what?
Hey I did find an eyepatch I like. pirate:
ARRRRGGGGHHH.

That's getting into the spirit!

We're all still anxiously awaiting the final verdict on the tux... :dancer:

Now you have the possibility of being included in the grass skirt fraternity as well.

So many decisions!

Grass Skirt, Bob and a Tux. The eye patch is a nice touch.

A total of 3 formal/semi-formal nights is pretty much standard from what I have seen from other cruise lines on the 10-14 day cruises.

Some other Disney forum sites out there (disneycentral, magictripscommunity, talkdisney) have installed custom vb codes to make it very simple for their members to create countdown timers (that look like the old ones - days, minutes, seconds, etc). Are the little magic DISboard elves going to be really cool and do the same thing? Hmm? While I do like the graphical options of the suggested sites, I miss the old timers :sad1:

Jeff has updated the lists with all the emails I have recieved. The deck plans will be done later tonite.

Welcome Angela, Susan, Kay and Harry (who doesn't know yet! :rotfl: ) :wave2:

Kay, I've added you to the pin list, and Angela I see you got your order in with Lynda.

TINK33, please pm me, I still can't get one out to you! Your either full or blocked.

I have an idea, but don't know if it is somehow already addressed by someone or Disney. I love to read while relaxing on deck, and can go through a few books in a two week period. I don't want to haul a bunch of books around in my luggage. What about a paperback book exchange? (you give one, you take one, etc.) Any thoughts on this?

Yes , everyone, I and I alone get bragging rights for Kay B. Russell coming to go on our reposition cruise. Yes, the other day Kay was sadly wishing to go on our cruise. This was on the DVC member cruise thread. I told her "come on" and there were available rooms, we'd love to have you go with us.
TA DAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
We got her and Harry too.
Kay, over here everybody has a head start on all the goodies. Can't wait to see you too.

Just thinking - I might stay over at Disney the night before the cruise to meet with everyone. I'll have to think this one over -
Since I haven't been able to work in 15 months, DH is going to absolutely kill me over this trip and the extra expense -
but when we married, it was for better or worse - and of course, this is better...... :charac2:

Will someone call him for me before he gets home from LA????? :scared1:
I should just run away before Sunday night....

Hey Liz:
Got your IM and you had signed off when I responded. But my response was that I should run away before sunday night.
