We didn't do Palo until our 5th cruise, but loved it. My in-laws didn't care for it much. I would say the best thing might be to book two separate nights - one for you and one for them. Do yours first and then you can see if it is the kind of experience they would enjoy. It gives you a night alone, gives the kids a night out with grandma and grandpa, and later gives them a night alone.

High tea is wonderful. DH and I love it - again his parents were not too thrilled with it. We couldn't get reservations on our last cruise, but hope to on the 10 day.

Woo Hoo! Just booked our night at Vero Beach before the cruise! One more piece of the puzzle!

Our plan is to fly down the morning of the 17th. Enjoy the day at Vero and then get an early start over to the Magic on the 18th. I'm so looking forward to this!

Mary-so glad you got Vero Beach booked. You will love it, even if it is only for a day! If you get up really really early you might be able to see the Magic passing Sat. AM!

I agree on the Palo-book it for DH and yourself. That's what we usually do and let the DD stay with Kid's Club for dinner and the night.

Woo Hoo....it is going to be 47 degrees in Salt Lake today. I didn't even wear a coat to work. That's the first warming trend we have had since Christmas. I hope I don't get sick with all these changes going on, but hopefully it will melt some of the 3 feet of snow at my house!

Have a great day everyone

Linda

Linda,

I never thought about that. Wonder how close the Magic comes to shore and what time. Might be worth it to set an alarm. I could beat those who are getting up at 4am for the Magic at the Radisson!

Hello all.....I have been hiding in the background and reading all your posts.
Just a quick stupid question regarding Palo.
Is there an extra charge to eat there because you must reserve there?
Can someone enlighten me, on this restaurant please.

afff, no fun lurking - come post more often.

To answer your question - yes there is a $10 per person charge for Palo Dinner and Brunch. High Tea, if you can get a reservation, is free. It is totally worth it as dinner there is wonderful. Hoping to do the bruch with the DIS group on the 10 day.

Thanks Mary.....Is lobster and King crab on the menu there?
I'm drooling already.

Good evening all,
I went and checked on the progress of the new house today - we finally have a hole in the ground and they have poured the footers. Hopefully the weather will hold out so they don't get behind schedule.

Ireland was very beautiful and we are ready to go back. There is still so much that we want to see and do that we didn't get a chance to this trip. In fact DD asked tonight if we were going back this summer - she didn't want to go in the first place.

We're going on the 10 day cruise! YEAH!!!!!

Did I see other people from WA on this thread????

DH, myself, and DS (who will be 8 at cruise time) are not only going, we actually have enough miles on Delta to get 1st class tix...I call THAT a Pixie Dust miracle :)

It helps to go to WDW from Seattle several times a year, lol!

So I haven't been able to read all 148 pages on this thread, but I hope to see some DISers I've sailed with before. And, if there are any Seattle-area people going, let's do Starbucks and get excited together!

Hi All,
Just wanted to check in. Hope everyone is doing well. We are getting closer to under 300 days to go. Its so exciting, I wish it was sooner though.

afff,

Lobster is served in all resturants on Thursday (can't remember if that is formal or semi-formal night  ) Sometimes you can even get lobster at the adult beach at Castaway Cay (the next day).

Not sure about king crab. Edit- afff I went and checked the memus as noted below and King Crab Legs are on the menu for Palo Brunch!

For a look at all the menu's check out Barb and Tony's site www.castawayclub.com or Dave's site www.dcltribute.com I also have links to both at our main cruise page.

Hi Dee - welcome to the thread!

I see that you cruised on the DVC cruise so you have cruised with my DH and I! We organized the DIS meet on that cruise and made the buttons we gave to the DIS'ers. (Actually going back and reading your signature I see that you have Disney Magic DVC cruise - so did you cruise the Magic on points? The DVC cruise was on the Wonder).

For this cruise I have volunteered to do a monthly newsletter and a photo gallery (a way for everyone to see who they are cruising with). If you click on my home page link below you can click a link to the main page (and if you want a trip down memory lane there is a link to the DVC cruise as well). Please drop me an e-mail or pm with the following so I can add you to the list: names, birithdays and anniversary date for all cruising, your cabin number, early/late seating, any other special information (like what cruise it is for you, DVC, etc.). Also if you will send me a family photo I'll be happy to add it to the photo gallery. For the privacy of everyone we've made the newsletter and photo gallery protected by a password. When I get your info I'll pass it on to you.

We've got lots of fun things planned. Gail (who is on a 10-day Celebrity cruise right now) is organizing bruch at Palo. gaRry and his wife Vicki are working on getting t-shirts made for the group.

So glad you'll be joining us and hope you post with us often. Our goal is to get to 10,000 posts before we cruise! Of course, the real reason to keep posting is to get to know each other so we can be sailing with some great friends!

Good morning all

We cruise in 10 months!

That's right! Today is 2/18/04. We sail on 12/18/04!

:boat: :boat: :boat: :boat: :boat:

Good Morning All!

WOW!!! 10 Months - Mary that makes it seem so much closer.

Dee - welcome to the cruise. I have a DD who will also be 8 on the cruise but her and her big sis (15) do not know about this cruise yet. Because I am such a planner, it is getting harder and harder to keep this a surprise. We love to fly first class, it makes the flilght so much nicer.

Barb - welcome back from Ireland.

I too have not been posting much lately :bitelip: but I will try to do better. I have been so busy with our other up coming vacations. We will be at the BCV March 14-21, on the 7 day western April 10th, and then we are going to Destin, FL this summer for a week. I have lists coming out my ears for all these vacations including the Christmas cruise. I'm just going to start buying small note books and use one for each vacation.::yes::

I am off to read the other boards.

LeiLani

dee47,
A very big welcome to you and your family to this bunch of :jester: and  cruisers.

LeiLani, thanks for the welcome home.

gaRry, I did not have any corked or uncorked wine in Ireland - I only drank Guinness and I don't even like beer at all

Thanks for making my morning on the 10-month mark! :) WDWLVR you're right -- it was the Wonder! I fixed my sig -- thanks!

I'll send you the info later today, I hope, once I had my Starbucks :p

So if we're going to have a DIS brunch at Palo, does that mean we can get 2 brunches on the cruise??? One for me and DH, one for us as a group? I LOVE Palo brunches. Hey, a girl can dream, right? :)

Has anyone ever stayed in 2080? It's on Dave's noisy staterooms list, but I wonder how bad it really is. If it's really noisy I may try to change cabins...DH is not tolerant of anything beyond sensory depravation tanks when it comes to sleeping arrangements :)

Thanks again for everything! I hope to chat here often!

Welcome to the thread Dee. We'll be nearby you. My family (DH, DD - 12 when cruising, DS - 11 when cruising, and my in-laws) are in adjoining staterooms 2571 and 2573 (opposite side of the ship, and forward just a bit from you). Looking at the ship's map, you'll be below Lumiere's. If you have early seating, and are early to bed people, there might be some noise coming down from the restaurant. But if you're late seating, I can't imagine you'd be in bed before they were done cleaning up. In the morning, they start serving breakfast in Lumieres around 8 I think, so you might hear tables moving around, etc. beginning about 7. The only other thing I can imagine might cause noise there is if there is a anchor rope below you.

I know that someone on this thread is actually moving to Washington soon. I think it's JillJill (Barb), but don't quote me on that. I think there's also someone here who already lives out there, but I'm just brain dead today. We have some good friends who live in Coupeville WA. My son and husband visited them last year and took a 39 mile round trip hike up the Hoh River Valley trail. They really enjoyed it. DS is insisting that he's flying back out this summer to visit his friend, and he's going by himself. We'll just have to see how that works out.

Welcome to the gang!

Dee - so we did sail together - cool! Did you come to the DIS meet on Deck 10 that cruise. We had so many DIS'ers show up I can't remember them all! We met so many great people there that is what got me wanting to start the newsletter etc. to have just as good a time on this cruise!

Haven't seen him on this thread in forever but madcoco was also on the Member Cruise and booked for the 10 day!

Also there are a number of DIS'ers (ourselves included) from the Member Cruise going down to WDW for Member Homcoming. :D

With 3 1/2 sea days I think there would 4 days worth of brunches so I don't see why you couldn't eat with the group one day and with DH alone on another. Gail is the one coordinating details on the bruch.

So glad you checked in with us. Looking forward to getting the info. Don't be a stranger now!

Lisa, it's not me moving that far - I'm only moving 4 miles from where I live now. I think all the snow talk has gotten into your head and made you 'brain dead' today :D We need to think :sunny: thoughts to get our brains working properly.

Good afternoon all. Welcome to the cruise Dee! We are so excited to have you join.

I have been busy (still) with auditors. It's 53 degrees out today. Hopefully, some of that snow is melting at my house.

Mary, I would think the ship passes by Vero Beach maybe an hour earlier. I would think if it is clear you would definitely be able to see the ship, since when we've been on the ship at night coming up the Florida coast we can see the lights on shore. It would be great for you to get a jump on those Radisson groupies!

Anyway, I get excited enough just looking at the Magic in port on Saturdays if I am around my computer at the time. I can't believe we are only 10 months out, too bad it isn't 1 month away.

Okay, have a great evening everyone. Talk to you all later.

Linda
