NO its the other one. shes working now. still cannot get this to change! ! ! ! so. lots to get done today. getting ready to leave friday night saturday morning. got to go see a friend, don't think he's very happy has some trouble right now. so I thought if nothing else the trip would cheer me up. not sure if the kids are going with me or staying with d w ,? so pay bills pack and get ready. talk later

Personally I wouldn't like to see Comcast take over. My limited experience with them and what I have read elsewhere makes me not respect them much as a company.

Disney needs a serious shake-up and hopefully this will cause one. My hope is that the shareholders (of which I am one) speak up with the votes.

David - did you get your proxy yet? We still don't have ours.

Good morning all. A record -4 degrees this morning in Salt Lake. Not much new here, just plugging away with that audit. I am trying to figure out how I can manage a WDW trip in sometime this year so I don't have to wait until that cruise in December. For right now though, I'll stay in the dreaming mode.

All our Disney stores closed here. I was soooooo disappointed, as I am a regular shopper there. I was probably the best customer they had here. And, I would always buy those grandkids all their gifts when they were on sale or clearance. So, it's a real bummer. The catalog just isn't as much fun. That's why I need to go to WDW so I can get my fix by going to Downtown Disney!

djs113: From what I heard ComCast plans to sell the parks and hotels to independent companies. Like WDW Parks to Mr. Y, Hotels to Mr. X and so on. That would be bad in my opinion if that happens. It would not be disney. If they can merge the company without dumping everything then go right ahead. I am just a little worried.

Don't worry about what happens with Comcast, Matt. Not much we can do about it. The sell-off is a rumor, I've actually heard that the Comcast president (who used to work for Disney), has "big plans" for the parks. Big plans sounds good! And they won't get rid of DCL or DVC because they are money makers. Diana

I am still really worried. I think needs to stay disney not comcast disney.If they merge I want them to keep the name Walt Disney Company owned by Comcast. It could be really good or really bad. We can make a differenc. If you are stock holders you can make a difference, get the word out to people. Well that is just IMHO. Hope everyone is having a good day. I am at school right now.

Could they change DVC? I don't think they could since we are actual property owners. I'm sure they could raise fees and stuff, but I think we are pretty safe until the time period is up.

I am off to San Francisco tonight for a quick 2-day Valentine getaway my DH arranged. Gee, I wish he'd booked Disneyland instead Oh well, I am sure San Fran will be fun, and I don't want to TOTALLY O.D. him on Disney...

Don't worry. Business leaders know the value of a good brand. Disney as a brand has more value than just about any other brand in the U.S. They'll definitely keep the name.

Linda - I don't think they can mess with DVC too much because we have contracts, at least until 2042. They could raise maint. fees but no more than 15%.

Matt - I do not think they would takeover Disney and then break it up. Although Disney struggles from time to time, they have a pretty good thing going. I don't think Comcast is out to destroy Disney but now that they have rebounded from the takeover of
A T & T they have the capital and Disney is ripe for the picking. (so to speak) Most people feel the offer is to low so I will wait to see what Comcast does next.

Virgil - I don't really have a favorite driver, I am just one of those people who likes to watch the races. Some of the drivers I pull for most are Jeff Gordon, Dale Jarrett, and Ryan Newman. We buy tickets to the race in Vegas every year (FIL loves to go - Dale Jarrett fan) but because it is scheduled so close to spring break (and we usually go somewhere than) I don't get to go the race very often. Have a great time skiing. When we lived in Virginia 10 years ago we went to Snowshoe and we loved it.

We have the laptop program at school so that is how i get on. I use my laptop in all my classes.

I am not going to relax about the comcast issue until its over. Like I said it may turn out to be really bad or really good.

Things are settling down around here for now. I had to take DD to the ER yesterday cause she was still vomiting. They got some fluids in her, and IV phenegran which finally broke the cycle. She's also having some problems at school, so please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. We can use all the help we can get!

Matt, I had wondered about the checking in at school thing. Okay, I'm putting on my mom hat. If I were your parents, I would not be happy to know that you were surfing the web during school. It sounds like you're a very bright young man. I wouldn't want you to get into trouble over this, so please think twice while surfing at school. Mom lecture off.

Have a good weekend all. I should be in chat tonight. Since DD is better, she still wants to go to Disney on Ice, and DH is taking them.

Good afternoon all. It has been the Friday from ****. I guess it is the 13th, no wonder!

So this morning I got up, turned on tv, it was -3 degrees out. Then the Today Show came on, and there was Matt Lauer, on the beach down in the Carribean soaking up 80 degrees on Necker Island (the island that guys owns from Virgin Records-Richard something, I think). Anyway, you can bring 10 of your closest friends and stay for only $37K per night. Way out of my range!
And then Jimmy Buffett was on, and I was just aching to get on a cruise ship and head down that way.

But then reality set in and I came to work, and I have been buried with the auditors all day long. It is now 3 p.m. MST and I am just now getting into my email. Oh well, at least the weekend starts pretty soon!

When I was getting my luggage checked in on the return Orlando/Dallas flight I asked the agent not to dismantle my scooter (illegal per ACAA) and had several persuasive reasons one of which being that it had been inspected on the way to Orlando and, according to the paperwork was the same scooter. The agent, citing "National Security" concerns, did not hesitate and asked me to move into a wheelchair so he could remove the seat and tear the plastic cowling off...He was having such a hard time taking the seat off that I, afraid he would break something on my scooter, offered to show him the pages from the manual I had copied and tucked into a pocket for just that reason. When he got the seat off he remarked that if I had brought the entire manual he wouldn't have to do the inspection...whereupon I whipped the manual out of a suitcase pocket for his reading. After reading the entire manual he pronounced the material insufficient and got back to tearing apart my scooter....When he got down to the batteries and saw that they were, indeed gel cell, as I had told him and as indicated on the previous airline paperwork, I commented that I just felt compelled to say "I told you so"..... His reply was that he was used to it as there were many people from New Jersey whose equipment he had also inspected...

Sorry linda you had a not so hot day. I had not school today! YAY My parents are going to GA tommorw and my mom is going to try to convince my dad to move back there. Its to darn exespensive here in CA. If we move it will be this summer. My aunt is staying with us over the weekend while my parents are gone. Somtimes she is mean but usally she is okay. Hope everyones weekend goes well.

Hello all, Happy Valentine's Day. Been working on our 2003 income taxes most of the day, thought I'd check in. It's been pretty quiet. I popped over to the Port Canaveral Cam, at 6 p.m. EST and the Magic is still in port. I was surprised. Was showing the DH the live cam since he doesn't know how any of these things operate (doesn't even know how to turn on my computer!) He can operate millions and millions of dollars of heavy equipment, but hasn't learned how a computer works! I was showing him ebay and how that works, he was just amazed. I think it is a little overwhelming to him.

Anyway, DD is gone for the weekend at a Leadership Conference, so we are headed to dinner here shortly and to a movie! Talk to you all soon!
