ohiominnie - wondered where you'd disappeared to! Thanks for the name change!

Gail1771 are you keeping track of who's going to be at the brunch???? Count us in for 4!!!

GaRry - thanks for the list - wow that was alot of work!

Have a great day, everybody!

Karyn

Wow this thread is really moving.

ohiominnie - thanks for the name change!

gail1771 - thanks for organizing brunch - I should have told you to put us down for 2.

gaRry - next time you update the list I'd love to get a copy. don't worry about now - enjoy your time at WDW.

I had an idea on how I can help. I saw on another thread where they are doing monthly or bi-monthly newsletters to all interested. You know little bios about ourselves, who is celebrating what that month. what's going on etc. A way to get to know each other.

Anyone interested? I'd be happy to handle it. Let me know!

Mary, I love that idea! I've been so jealous of that group - just cause someone is writing newsletters - how cool ! I was on the 11/15/03 - before we had to cancel out and one of the guys there developed a website just for that cruise - the "member's only" section was password protected and had pictures of everybody and info like email addreses and personal info. It was very cool.

Not sure how I can help out, tho I'm considering turning GaRry's list into an Access file. I'm sure I'll come up with something along the way. I make a pretty good thread cheerleader and bumper-upper!

Want to meet downtown Chicago and brainstorm on this stuff? Anyone else coming thru the Chi area - let us know - I love to meet DISers.

I'd love to see this thread end up with the all time record for most posts before sailing! What a challenge!

Karyn

Everyone who is intrested in joining the Disher's for brunch at Palo's please E mail me your first and last names. I will put the list together. My e mail address is sands1@optonline.net. I will call DCL and find out how we reserve tables for about thirty people - until the list gets longer closer to the cruise date. I will ask for a day we are at sea. Thanks- Gail1771:smooth:

Wow - found us at the bottom of page 2!

I sent an e-mail to David the DISer who is doing a newsletter for his group. Hopefully he'll send me a copy so I can see how he set it up and get some ideas.

Things I'm thinking of including:

List of how many cruises every family has been on.
Favorite ports.
Favorite excursions.
Port tips (especially if anyone has been to St. Lucia or Antiqua).
Birthdays through the next year.
Wedding anniversaries.
Bio's

Anything else you guys would like to see.

Karyn - we'd love to get together, but we really aren't downtown people (guess I spent too many years working down there). What about lunch some weekend in Schaumburg area? (or any place that is mid-way between us). It would be great to get together with you and any other DISers that are going on the cruise. Anyone else from the Chicago area or coming to Chicago in the near future?

Sounds great, Mary. Lunch in Schaumburg and the newsletter!

I can't believe I'm checking this thread so often! I think we're at 499 days now!

Karyn

Bumping up again! Bottom of 2nd page!

Hope everybody has a wonderful Disney day!

Karyn

OK Everyone - we've broken the 500 day mark so the cruise will be here before we know it.:p

Let's use the time to get to know each other and get ready for the cruise. What I'm proposing is that people send information in to me and I'll include in the newsletter. How many cruises have you been on? Which ones? What is your favorite port? What is your favorite excursion? What magical moment did you have on your cruise? Who's going - names and ages? Any celebrations on the ship? Any celebrations between now and then (come on we all will celebrate at least one birthday before we sail :) ).

For those of you a little afraid please read this thread.Anyone apprehensive about meeting other DIS'ers?

I can tell you my own experience has been wonderful. The best was on the DVC Member Cruise. My DH Mark decided to be the one to organize the meets (we did one at the Radisson and one at Sailaway). It was so neat to get to know about everyone ahead of time through our thread and the e-mails they sent us. For anyone who wants to read about our experience click on the link below. We ran into DIS'ers all the time. Sometimes it was just a wave and hello - sometimes we'd go to lunch together. The cruise is a wonderful trip for your family, but I can guarantee you that when you know others it will make the experience even better. No one expects us to be all together 24/7, but having a meet or the brunch that Gail is organizing can be great fun with DIS friends!

If you are willing to share your information please e-mail me at marygums@covad.net. Include your e-mail if you want notification of then the first newsletter is done (I'm thinkiing end of September and then maybe bi-monthly after that).

WDWLVR - Sounds like a lot of typing especially if you only use one finger like me!

Paul

Paul,

Not a problem - I used to be a copywriter. Just thought it would be a nice way for us to get to know each other over the next year. Then we can board the ship having lots of DIS friends in addition to our own families.

WDWLVR - I hope you didn't take my comment the wrong way. I think it's a great idea and a great way to get to know everyone. I'll start working on my info.

Paul, not at all. I honestly thought you were just being funny.

I do hope everyone doesn't think I'm being pushy about this. I know we have lots of time and I know some people are not anxious to share info about themselves, but that is the beauty of these boards. To get to know each other before we sail.

Before we sailed on the Member Cruise we had only met one other couple (DVCReg and her DH). By the time we got off the ship 4 days later I feel like I had just gotten off the ship after sailing with 10-15 close friends. We didn't hang with everyone every day, but it was sure nice to see friendly faces and to stop and chat with someone on deck. That was only for a 4 day cruise!

Hey WDWLVR,
Did you get my email? I wanted to let you guys know I love to build web sites and I am good at it to. I think it would be cool to create a website for the cruise and post bios about ourselves and even post copy of newletter on there and have like a link to Christmas2004's webgroup or even I could create forums like there are here on the DIS for our groups exclusive use. I read on previous post someone thought I of this but wondered what came of it. I would really love doing it.
Let me know,
Matt:bounce:

Matt,

Yes I got your e-mails - thanks for the info. I haven't fully decided how best to distribute the newsletter. We've got web space as well so could definately post it there (I'll need DH's help on that). Just don't know if we can make it password protected (so that only cruisers on the 2004 Christmas Cruise can view it. Will be looking into it.

Mary!

You are so sweet for doing this - if there's anything I can do to help, let me know. I'll email you soon.

It's supposed to be a nice day in northern IL today! I hope everybody has a great weekend.

Karyn

Wow,

Look where this has gone in just one week!!!

Can you imagine what the cruise will be like?

I've done a very basic web page to start up our celebration. Thanks to Karyn to leading me to Alex and Alex for showing me his site. I hope to be adding meet and greet info as we go on as well as some other fun things. Be kind - its the first time I'm trying web design.

Feedback is greatly appreciated and thanks to those who have been sending in their information.

PS - I'm using some Disney fonts and DH says they won't be visable if you don't have them on your computer. If it looks wierd let me know and I'll go to more generic fonts.
