We recently completed the online survey from the cruise and one of the questions they asked was if you experienced a "magic moment" during your cruise. Of course they wanted the details and I thought everyone might be interested in this so I wanted to share it with you...

DW Torey met Christy Carlson Romano while both were getting a pedicure at the Vista Spa near the end of the cruise. During the conversation Christy learned we were from Atlanta and she shared that she was starring as Belle in the upcoming Atlanta performance of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Of course Christy signed an autograph for our DD Sarah and suggested that if we were able to attend one of her shows she'd arrange for us to visit her backstage. How exciting -- we've never done something like this! So, we now have tix for this Saturday's matinee and have sent an email to Mrs. Romano who coordinates these things for her daughter. We are hopeful that this will all work out and are certainly grateful for Christy's very kind offer. I must say that I am truly impressed with Christy's sincerity and generosity.

Just another magical moment from our cruise that we wanted to share with ya'll!

Anyone else have a magical moment from the cruise???

WOW. That is the first nice thing i have heard about her. When i met her she was very cold . She told my mom if i see her to say hello. I did and she was very cold. I also heard the the teens in the stack where not to fond of her because she was telling them how she was drunk when she got her tattoo. Also i heard that up in Palo her family was screaming and yelling in the private room. I saw her when i did extra work for Joan of Arcadia and i really wanted to talk to her. When i finally did i had a new image of her, It wasn't until the last night when i found out all the other stuff. Also a friend of mine on the ship told me that in Rockin Bar D Christy's sister and brother were talking about her and she was in ear shot of what they were saying. Any who i don't want to spoil your magical moment. My mom got me back stage of Seussical the Musical and it rocked. I hope you guys have fun. Later Days.

PS Oh ya someone from the cruise staff told me they wanted to push her over. :boat:

PSS HAVE FUN

Your thoughts are interesting and certainly conflict with our observations!

Ironically we were seated at the table right beside Christy and her family in Palo at brunch (for 2 hours) of never saw/heard anything like what you mentioned -- nothing but pleasant family conversations!

She also sat right behind us in the RockinBarD during 70s night and we never saw/heard anything like you described!

Personally I would question the information you have. We found Christy to be very wholesome and we were left with the impression that she is one of the very few young talents who are a wholesome role model for kids today!

I had run into Christy in the ladies room at Palos - I was washing my hands when she joined me at the the sink - we exchanged polite hellos when I told her of a situation that took place on the set of Joan of Arcadia which involved her and my 19yr old son - who told us this story as we were eating dinner at Palos when she arrived one night to join her family and said that he wanted to talk to her but was hoping to run into her - he wanted to respect her privacy while she was dining with her family. So when I ran into her in the ladies room I shared this with her and she recalled it. She told me to tell him that he should introduce himself to her, she'd love to chat about that day. I did find her very polite - but a day later when my son introduced himself and proceeded to chat she was rude and cold to him. And it is not like my son is awstruck with celebrities - we have many friends in the industry and he is comfortable around them.

Also one of the waiters had told us that she is a handful - and that it was a long cruise since she is taking all of her meals up there in Palo.............. And I am not here to trash her but - this is just to show that she is human - everyone has different sides of themselves and shows them at different times - so unless you know her personnally - what you saw with her is not what someone else may have seen or experienced.

Hmmmm. Interesting discussion about Christy. In my 2nd day at sea part of the trip report, I mentioned my impressions of her, which match up more with John's than Chris's. It's particularly interesting, because in the conversation, Mrs. Romano mentioned specifically the Christy worries about her reputation, and has worked hard to avoid drunken antics. So I'm sure that at least the Mom wouldn't appreciate the conversation reported by Chris.

Just as all of us do, our family tries to form our own opinions, and I was very impressed with her on the cruise. John, congrats on the tickets. DD is bummed because it's not showing anywhere near us. She really likes stage shows! I'm looking to get tickets to a matinee of Wicked in NYC for a girls trip this spring.

Perception is a tricky thing. How many times do you read a trip report and think - wow was I on the same cruise?

What one person seas is often very different from what another sees.

I found that very true on this cruise. I saw something I thought was fantastic while someone else saw the same thing and didn't care for it. Or someone might have gone on an excursion and thought it was just so so while I loved it.

Perfections of people are even harder because it is a two way interaction. Perhaps Christy's coldness to Chris might have been caused by remembering back to that day and something about it triggered something in her. Something unrelated to Chris.

I couldn't tell you who she was if she sat down next to me and didn't go to any of her performances so I'm total neutral on her. Just saying we should all try and remember that part of our perceptions both good and bad are inside us as much as with the other person.

Hope that makes sense.

I had a dream about the 2006 20-day cruise

20 day cruise? Sign me up. Apparently there is someone doing the repo cruise and then staying on for the first Mexican cruise. WOW...21 days! You'd have to debark me with one of the forklifts!

There was someone on our cruise doing the 10 day followed by the 7 day NYE cruise. Saw them in Palo lining up a reservation for NYE. That would have been cool.

Mary, I agree with you, that is why I wrote what I wrote. Christy is only human and I don't know of any perfect humans. We all have good days and bad days - I heard some nice things about her and I also heard others. So maybe Chris caught her on a bad day............... but to question what he said I just had to add my 2 cents.

I hope goofydadeo and his family have a wonderful time at the show and enjoy the backstage pass/tour - because they can be alot of fun as Chris mentioned he really enjoyed it!

tdk Lisa - hope you enjoy Wicked - we saw it during the summer it was GREAT! - If you've read the book - the play is very different.

That's cool! We're going to see Seussical in a couple of weeks. Actually, we'll end up seeing it twice--once with our season tickets and once with our homeschool group. I LOVED Schoolhouse Rock Live when they did it, so I'm sure this will be good too!!

Interesting. KT met her in the lab. Didn't say much about her except that she was the reason she was late getting back. She was supposed to be back to the room by 11, but the counsellors wouldn't let anyone sign in or sign out while Christy was there, so she didn't get home until 11:30. KT was quite upset about it. :(

Now, KT told me last night that when Christy came in all of the 10-12's screamed at the top of their lungs. She couldn't figure out what all the excitement was about. See, my kids, being homeschooled are just a titch sheltered. Last night KT and Nick were watching a Tivo'd PB&J Otter and KT explained to me why the other 10-12's liked Christy so much....here's why:
"See, the other kids have to go to school all day, so when they get home, the only shows on that they can watch are Kim Possible and Even Stevens. Most of them probably don't have Tivo, so they HAVE to watch these shows. They are in public schools, so they aren't home when all of the GOOD shows are on---like PB&J otter and Winnie the Pooh."

Ah, the innocence of youth!

We'd be there too. In a heartbeat. I'd LOVE to do an Alaskan cruise but I have a fear of leaving DCL.

Come on DCL!!!!

When I went to the DCL talk, the question up about an Alaskan criuse the rewponse was that the 2 ships that Disney has were built for warm water. So unless they built another ship..................

Mary,
It's like when I read your trip report and you mentioned Collin and Ancel (our servers.) You said something like they were ok, but nothing great. Our perception, on the other hand, was totally different. Ancel was ok...he did his job, our food came out on time and warm, but he wasn't that personable. But Collin on the other hand....we all totally LOVED him. Just adored him! If this tells you anything, on CC day, KT wanted to return to the ship for lunch. I said "Collin told us he'd be working at Cookie's today." And she screamed "I WANT TO EAT AT COOKIES AND SEE COLLIN!!!!!" We did, on that chilly day, and as soon as a jacketed Collin saw KT he came over yelling "Hey, baby, give me some warmth" and gave her a big hug. KT had the look on her face that she gets when she hugs Minnie. We also really liked that his accent wasn't so thick....my dad with his hearing problem even could understand him.

It's all good. :)

Karen - exactly! Don't get me wrong - they were both very good at what they did, but we were so spoiled by our last serving team personality wise.

I do think Collin had a much bubblier personality than Ancel. My thinking is he showed it more with the kids. I saw a couple of great shots on Ken's photo CD of Collin with Staci. So it's all good!
