"See, the other kids have to go to school all day, so when they get home, the only shows on that they can watch are Kim Possible and Even Stevens. Most of them probably don't have Tivo, so they HAVE to watch these shows. They are in public schools, so they aren't home when all of the GOOD shows are on---like PB&J otter and Winnie the Pooh."

Ah, the innocence of youth!

In this day and age, that is a Wonderful thing! Enjoy these days! I know I did - even though we've raised Chris smack dab in the middle of a big city - Boston - one block from Paul Revere's house - we were strict and had a huge family always around - a family that lives with the "old fashion" values. Poor kid didn't stand a chance - plus being a child who loved the arts especially Theatre - he was a fun kid. And Still IS!!!

The innocence of youth is a Wonderful thing!!!

I agree. I see too many kids KT's age scantily dressed, majorly flirting with boys and otherwise acting too much like young adults. I see kids treating their parents like dirt and the parents taking it. Last night Nick tried backtalking Mike and got in trouble and had to apologize.

Of course, there aren't too many really good role models out there, IMHO, for kids to emulate. Look at Britnney Spears! :earseek:

It's tough being a parent these days!

I also found this disturbing....I guess it's a reflection of our education system and how it's run....KT is going through First Communion/Confirmation classes in our church (5th graders) They told us at the first class that the kids had to memorize the first point under "the Sacrament of the Altar" for next week. It's approx 15 lines long. But then they said "if they can't memorize it, that's ok, all kids are different and you know your child best, so they have to memorize it, but if they can't that's ok." :earseek: :earseek: When *I* was in 5th grade, you memorized it, no excuses. :guilty: Course, that was also the days when they'd take you out in the hall and paddle you! :earseek:

Not being around the schools, do they still do the punishment of writing out sentences 100 or more times?...i.e. "I will not talk to my friends during classtime, I will not talk to my friends during class time, I will not talk to my friends during classtime....." I probably had to write that sentence 200 or more times a week in middle school! (go figure!)

Okay, so it has been quite the week.

Got on an airplane yesterday to fly to Atlanta on business. Was going to post before I left, but obviously that didn't happen!

So, notice that the mailman has delivered as I am leaving the house with DH (Robert), so pull back in through the snow and get the mail. Throw everything in back seat on floor EXCEPT FOR THE PRICELESS MANILLA BUBBLE ENVELOPE FROM KEN

Can't wait to get on plane and open laptop to view pictures! Flight delayed an hour........get up in air and ta da....the captain finally lets us know we can get our "stuff" out.

Robert starts watching Mr. 3000. I keep hitting him as I am laughing trying to show him the pictures Ken sent. They are awesome! Can't wait to watch over and over again. And it was so fun because you took totally different pictures than me. I kept saying, oh, I wish I would have taken a picture of that,.....or, I never saw that, how did I miss that? (Oh yeah, it was the other 12 people I was with that kept distracting me!) Oh well, next cruise!

THANKS KEN AND SHARI!!!

Linda

So, Robert has gone to Atlanta today to meet up with his sister in Centennial Park and I am here in Peachtree City for meetings that start in an hour.

I'm even on high speed internet access! I'm in heaven.

Oh yeah, need to shower and get ready for meeting, but I am all caught up on posts. Good thing it isn't before the cruise, I would have been reading for hours!

Nope. That would be considered cruel and unusual. Most punishments today involve some form of in-school suspension (our's is called the SDC for Spring Ridge Detention Center). Of course DD was in there for defending herself in a fight where she came home with huge bruises all over her, and everyone at the table said all she did was tell this other girl to stop talking about what she did with her boyfriend.... but those are the joys of public school.

Phil-I did take some pictures of kids with Christy when I was sitting next to Christy's mom in theater waiting for Jamie to work her way through the line. Now, I am not sure what Hillary looks like, but if you can send a picture over to me, I'll check mine and see if we have a match!

Linda

One last thing.....Pm'd you John about possibly getting together for a meet while I am here in Atlanta if you guys are available. We could do a slide show of my pictures that I haven't had time to organize yet!

Okay, off to shower and meetings all day long. I'll check in late tonight sometime.

Linda

[Hey Linda!

Great to hear from you!!!

:grouphug: I really enjoyed meeting you and hope we cross paths again on a future cruise!!
:boat:

Which reminds me of this:

For anyone who took notice of our very own "Cinderella Cruiser" princess:
the last morning I was in Shutters picking up our pictures and I was behind her in line - the CM told her that today's total was $400 - any way they were chatting and she told them the reason she was so tired is that they didn't finish packing until 2:30 am and called for the luggage pick up then - she also commented that it took that long to pack 34 pieces of luggage! Just wondering if they had a seperate room as a dressing room!!!!

I'm looking to get tickets to a matinee of Wicked in NYC for a girls trip this spring.

Wicked is such a great show. I was lucky enought to see it with Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel. Even though they are no longer in the cast i hear that the new girls live up to the first two. I can't wait till it starts touring in the Spring. It is going to Toronto, Chicago, and then i think some where in Texas. I hope you get tickets, it's truley a great show. Also if you have time read the book, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, i found it interesting to compare the two. Later Days.

Hey everyone thanks for your comments. I think Mary said it well, it's all perception and of course we are all human...

Anyway, back to my ultimate point, which is "magical moments" from our cruise...

Did anyone else have one they'd like to share?

Since we all consider this best cruise DCL has ever done I am sure there are some out there!

I'd love to hear about them!

Cheers,

John

The IVP came back negative. Must have passed the stone on the ship. Whew! Good news for me because I don't want to do that again! :cloud9:

Magical moments: We discovered the Cove Cafe and had great moments just the 2 of us having coffee and playing Skip-bo. What a luxury with the chaotic lives we all lead. The CMs in Cove are super. Daniello and Mark were great to chat with. We discovered that Daniello knows some of our extended family who worked on a cruise ship in the Orient a few years ago.

DH, DrHug, said he still wakes up and in the moments before he is completely awake thinks (maybe hopes) he is still on the ship. :boat:

ONE OF OUR MANY MAGICAL MOMENTS ON THE 10 DAY CRUISE..................GROUP ADULT PICTURE WITH TAYLOR MASON!!!!

I could have let DCL know about many magical moments, but they wouldn't have had anything to do with DCL. Most of my magical moments were created by DIS boarders!! :)

Like when Mr. Scuba showed up at my door with a bottle of wine, ready to pour us glasses of wine to take to the show.

Or when we shared a bus with Mr. and Mrs. Mork on our Antigua island tour and chatted back and forth.

Or when Ken hung around the internet cafe trying to help me print something but the printer was spewing out hundreds of pages of information on watches.

Or when Mr. and Mrs. Scuba banged on the window of Lumiere's as I was walking by and motioned for me to come in and chat.

Or when I was presented with an autographed picture of some of the hunkiest DISboards I know!

Or when Virgil stopped by with a gift from he and Kevin...a small version of "Remodeling bathrooms for dummies"

Or when I found a card in my fish mail from Sue.

Or one under my door from Stacey.

Or one under my door from the Scubas.

Or whenever someone saw me on the last couple of days and wished me a happy birthday.

Or when Lynda stopped and chatted with me in the halls (I honestly thought she'd put her scooter in overdrive to get away from me!) ;)

Or when we found a bag of candy by our door from Leilani and family.

Or when Lauren (Virgil's dd) stopped by on Christmas day with gifts for the kids.

There's a ton more. I could go on and on!! :)

THANKS DISERS for the best cruise I've ever been on!!!
