If you guys are going to go on that cruise, you need to write down the date! It's May 27, 2006, modified Western. Stops in Castaway Cay, Cozumel, Costa Maya, and then Castaway Cay again. Good rates on this one because it's not considered high season, and there are less port charges to pay. I think if we book on the cruise on the ship we get an onboard credit plus a discount. Then you can transfer it to a TA for an additional discount. If we use the same TA and have eight (?) cabins, we can become a "group" and qualify for an additional onboard credit plus early reservation privileges for Palo etc. If I'm wrong about any of this, someone please correct me!
This sounds extremely tempting...... :cool1:

ok, I MUST go to bed, but I expect to have answers in the morning. If not, don't come to 6060 and 6058 to see our signs. :)

URGENT REQUEST FOR HELP!!!

No...don't call 911. Well, not until ohiomickey blows his lid over this door sign printing. That may come very soon.....

He's trying to print our signs and when it gets very near the end of the page, the paper stops gripping and it prints over and over on top of itself. If we try to "help" it along near the end, things get smudged and he's not happy with it. He knows everyone is going to be looking at our signs, so he will not accept anything less than perfect.

So...what's going on?? We tried two printers, the same thing happened with both. I tried pushing, pulling and even putting two magnetic papers back to back (thinking maybe the back was too slippery. But nothing is working.

WAAAA!!

Any advice? TIA
after ruining 4 sheets of the magnetic stuff... I gave up.. printed the signs on regular paper and I will be taping them to the door. I am technologically impaired and should never have tried this kind of stuff at home.. I am leaving it to the professionals...

If anyone wants to email me their signs, I'll print it out on my magnetic paper, which so far gave me no trouble at all. PM me if you'd like my email address.

Mike would like to know what brand of paper you're using? and is it matte or glossy?

I'm using generic Office Depot magnet paper. Glossy. It's for inkjet printers.

No problem! Now we have 8 divers in our DIS group. I think that is there max for the boat anyway. Should be a blast.

Are you diving elsewhere as well?

Our small group is diving in Antigua and St. Thomas as well. Looking forward to it.

See you're from South California. One of my favorite places to dive is Catatina and San Clemente. Love those kelp forests and interesting sea life.

We were going to do the DCL dive in St. Thomas as well but cancelled at the last minute to go on the Atlantis Sub with our kids instead (DD7 and DD4). That day being Christmas, we figured we should include the kids in "some" of our activities LOL :rotfl: Plus it will be a good way to introduce our girls to the natural underwater world.

We may do Antigua... but not certain yet....

Glad to hear you like Catalina/San Clemente. Catalina is where we got certified :D .

I had this problem too. I put the magnetic sheet through with an ordinary piece of white paper behind it. Then it went through no problem at all.

What did you want at WalMart? If it's just groceries, I have a map already with all the grocers, and the nearest WalMart is in Kissimmee, off the bottom of my map.

Mark, once again, YOU DA MAN! Thanks so much. I did find mapquest driving directions, but with your map, I'll be able to figure out how to get back on track once I miss that oh-so-critical turn that I always miss!

Some people are just showoff's! LOL :bitelip:

Good job! We will get some done tomorrow, but the rest will be done in the next couple of days or so. Thanks for rubbing my nose in it..... :earboy2: :D
Of course, now that I'm packed, I've caught Linda's fever. Yes I was up at 3:30 with the "hmmm, maybe I really should put in that collapsable duffle bag for overflow", and "Did I put qtips in the toiletry bag", etc. worries.

For our first cruise, I was actually COMPLETELY packed 3 months ahead of time! I went out and bought extras of all the things we used on a daily basis just so the bags were ready! So this is late for me.

Gotta story on this one
Sorry to say American SUCKS with this policy. I was 3 pounds over my last trip with them and they were going to charge me $70!!! My other bag was only about 20 pounds but they didn't care! After arguing with them for a few minutes... I said "give me a valet box" I opened the overweight suitcase right there on the floor at the check in and dumped a few armloads into the valet box. Shut the suitcase and said THERE.. weigh it now... and thank you for letting me air out my dirty laundry in the airport!!!

Yep, it's been my experience too (thankfully seeing others, not my luggage). Most of my trips are business, and it's only on cruises that I'm a crazy overpacker!

Anyway, I think a combination of things led to this being picky.
1) Post 9-11 they check a lot more luggage due to restrictions, hence more bags to handle.
2) There were employee complaints/claims of injury from overweight bags.
3) Overweight bags can be more likely to break open, causing them problems.
4) Overweight bags flung onto other peoples bags damage those peoples' stuff, causing damage claims :)

Anyhow, it all boils down to the fact that they can charge for it, and given how the airlines have cut back, it's just one of those ways they make extra money.

Karen, weren't you going to bed like an hour ago???? What are you doing still up?

Okay, turning off my mom voice now.

Greetings tinksdad !

Yes, the other "two" divers that Michael mentioned must be us. I got the info on Dive Fair Helen through the DIS Divers site and made the ressies last week. I asked him if it's OK for us to join the group and he didn't say it would be any problem. I just assumed that he asked the group leader.

I hope it's OK for us to join you and the rest of the DIS divers. I apologize for not asking you first but I didn't know who to contact.

We will swing by one of the gatherings to say "Hi".

Welcome. I agree with TinksDad about diving CA. In November I dove 3 days on The Truth on the Northern Channel Islands and had a great time. It was my first cold water diving and loved it.

But warm is always fun :Pinkbounc

Tina,
You don't have to have a stop! There is a real grocer in Key West (our first stop the following morning) within walking distance from the port. It's right off Duvall.

Mark, do you remember the name of the store? I want to GPS it and there are several real close.

I'm practacing for the cruise. Stayed up until 12:30 last night, even watched SNL, and than stayed in bed until 6:30 am.

I think I can do this.....in the cruise mode all ready.

This morning it won't be pretty when I wake up DW. She was also up late.

As we tell the kids, "Don't do anything on Saturday night that keeps you from going to church on Sunday morning". There have been many mornings I hated myself for making that rule!!!

Sharon used Avery stuff from Walmart. It's matte.

Had no problems with it.

I think you just need a new printer. It's not the paper. Any excuse for more toys. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Good Morning Everyone!

Mark-thanks for the store and water information. We may just wait and see how we like the water and buy some in Key West if needed.

This morning our local forecast has our first snow coming Friday! It certainly better not give us too many problems trying to fly out! I may call the kennel and see if I can drop of dog Thursday instead so I don't have to drive out there Friday if snowing.

Hope to have another productive day.
Will check back later!

I was going to bed, but when dh is having a panic attack over something I asked him to do, I feel obligated to stay up and try to help....even though he's the tech wizard in the house! believe me, I'm paying for it now and will all day!
