:umbrella: :umbrella: Good Morning Everyone! Guess what it's still doing here?? Raining! If this keeps up, I'll need to cross our creek in :boat:

Welcome Sarah and family!! We are a fun group, and nowhere near as scary as we sound!!

Took me a while to catch up this morning...so I'll go through the list of responses:

Ohminnie...WalMart! Go figure. Ours is too far away, so I never go there anymore. The director will love you!

YES....Jared is wearing a tux.....harder than heck to find one that fit.

Dee....I'm going to see if we have an Office Depot anywhere semi-close. For us, that's within a 45 minute drive. I'm going to town today, so hopefully I'll find one. If not, I may take you up on that. I just don't like how "dull" mine look. (the magnetic door signs)

Stockings: Bringing some that I had embroidered for the kids....not bringing the ones they use all the time...too sentimental to lose. I have a couple of small items to put in them, but otherwise, the cruise and the things they will want to buy will be their Christmas gift.
I did get them a few things at the Holiday Gift Shoppe in Las Vegas. Depending on when those get delivered, they may be a "Happy New Year" gift.

Let's see...what else?

The Boards Will Be Down For HOW LONG????

I won't live!!!

I'm not bringing any flip-flops....I do have some Nike water sandals, I guess I can wear those with my pirate dress...who cares, anyway???

Linda....I love your signs!! The "Naughty and Nice" was a great idea!!!

Great picture of Keith!! Congrats to him!!

We had a little go-around with Jared last night. He wants to "grow his hair long"....but he couldn't define for us what he meant by that. His hair is fairly thin, and with it being so blond (not to mention he's going through an oily stage) I just don't think it would look good. I had the trimmers out, and was at least going to trim around his ears....he was having a fit.
Jay told him it was either me, or the barber. Jared picked the barber. I was wanting his hair "buzzed" for the cruise.
What's a Mother to do???

Have been hearing back slowly from the teachers. No one seems to have a problem with the kids being gone. Seems as though most will be done with finals by then anyway.
The principal even e-mailed, said it was fine, and said to let her know if I had "trouble" with any of the teachers...she'd help out. Trust me, I printed that one for future reference!!

what night are you doing formal?

It looks like the Captain's Gala (formal) may be ....and that's only a MAYBE.....on Sunday, the 26th....so I'm going to save my most fomal dress for that night.
I'm going to wear my 2nd most formal to dinner at Palo one night, and my 3rd most formal on Christmas night, even though it looks like we may be in Parrot Cay that night.....which is usually casual.

Jay (my DH) has three tux shirts. I had him try them on last night, just to double check size. Of course his only tab-collar is too tight around the neck. Now I have to go get another shirt.
I won't say out loud what I was thinking of putting around his neck.........

:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc UNEXPECTED T.O.P.!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Is that a new thing or something that is done on longer cruises? We have only done the 3 day cruise and didn't have that.

DH (Michael) will have to try on his tux! Won't that be fun... oh well, he is generally a pretty good sport.

What are the snorkeling extras you guys have up your sleeves?

Here's a scientific question for you all......

What do you get when teenage daughter spills baby powder on the Italian tile in the bathroom, and Mom hurries in there with slippers on her feet???

Yep......Mom on her be-hind on the floor!!!
Wait till I get my hands around HER neck!!

You mean the Captain's Gala? I've only been on the 3 & 4 night cruises, too....these are done only on the longer ones. It's supposed to be the most formal night. One of the others who have been before can correct me if I'm wrong.

Snorkeling extras? As in, excursions?

Snorkeling extras? As in, excursions?

I have seen so many things on the board this morning and it is not all clear, yet, but I remember seeing (on the newsletter, maybe?) someone mentioning special scuba/snorkling tips. I thought maybe it was in addition to the excursion list provided by Disney...?

Sorry about you falling in the bathroom. I hope you are OK. THat can really hurt.

Nuts....I just heard from Jordan's Math teacher. They will be taking the final on the 20th and 21st. She said she will give Jordan and "Incomplete" for the semester, as she will not give Jordan the final early. (Who is Jordan going to give the answers to? She'll be on the cruise. And besides, NO ONE would want Jordan's answers! LOL)
Anyway, she said Jordan could take the test when she returns on the 5th of January. By then, she will have forgotten everything.

Think I should call the principal? She DID say she would help, if we had any trouble......

Thanks everyone for all the warm welcomes! I didn't really need to work today, anyway... lol!

What's an arcade card?

I am still trying to make sense out of all of this but thanks to everyone for making it easier . This will be our third Disney cruise but we have not been in about 5 years and things have changed...
-Sarah

Sarah, that was my question before. Our kids didn't even find the arcade until halfway through our 2nd cruise.

They do have an arcade on deck 9. It's the opposite side of the coffee bar (what used to be common grounds, the teen club). It's standard arcade fare, video games, crane game, air hockey, etc. It takes arcade cards which are sold in $10 increments at guest services. There's a machine in the arcade like a dollar changer where you are supposed to put in your KTTW card and it gives you an arcade card, but it often is out of order. That's one reason I make sure my kids don't have charging privileges on their cards. I can just see my statement, with the kids saying "But I didn't know it wasn't Free (or included, take your pick!)".

Sarah - there is an arcade on both the Wonder and Magic. The arcade cards can be purchased with the KTTW card. One reason some parents don't let their kids have charging privileges. In my household - I'd probably use it more than Lauren - she loves the Club - so it's not a problem..... I never find the time for the arcade anyways.....

Oops - I see Lisa beat me to the answer.........

Last Call For Buttons!

OK - here is who we have on the button list. Last call! If you are not on the list and you want buttons let me know in the next couple of days. Button production will cease on Turkey day.

DW4US/Patty, Jordan (Mike & Andrea for Nav only)

Mary, if it's not too much trouble and you also make buttons for Mike and Andrea --- I think they will feel left out if they don't get them.

Thanks --- you are truly amazing!!!!

Now, back to catch up ---

The scuba divers have some things of their own planned. Mary has a link to it, and so does Tinksdad.

We snorkel. We are going to do Disney's excursion...Capt Nautica's on the 25th. But otherwise, we are going out on our own.

Yeah, I'm okay. Lots of cushion to break the fall!!!;) Just not happy with Jordan......

The rain is really coming down.....maybe I won't go to town, I may not get back home again.

I would say (but you don't know me, really) to wait a day until you cool off and then yes call the principal. It is not fair to ruin your daughter's break with a test hanging over her head just because the teacher is not creative enough to create a different test in time (she'll have to take a different test on the 5th, anyway!).

At our school, the assumption is that the last few days before break the kids are pretty much checked out, anyway, so nothing big happens. Mine will miss 1 and a half days of school. The only one who formall responded to me letting them know is my daughters first grade teacher! SHe is so thorough! The others just saw me in the hall and said "fine, no biggie".

Oh no, that's my nightmare too. I haven't been brave enough to send notes yet. Alicia just now caught up from two field trips and two sick days with her Math teacher. Yes, I'd call the Principal on that one. Jordan doesn't need a handicap in MATH.

Yep - Call - I would..... Let her take it last thing.... so that she can't share - not that she would anyways...... she'll be so busy on the cruise - wouldn't want to have to come back and study over New Years....

Sarah, that's an excellent point! What's to stop the other kids from giving Jordan the answers??? Never thought of that!
It will make a good selling point to the principal. And, you must know ME already....advising me to cool off first!! ::yes::
