I buried the smoke detector under a pile of towels...it was driving me crazy.

I thought the Handsome Handyman would have a reasonable explanation for this phenomenon.

Most of those types of devices have a storage capacitor that will run the circuit until it drives you crazy! It's built in as "safety feature", to cover the dead battery for a period of time.

Your interpretation may vary. LOL

Now, there is a reason to have 9 volt batts on hand......

Ours recently did this. It was going off all the time for no apparent reason and doing the beeping thing intermittantly. We changed the battery and it didn't help. So what we did was replace it (it was 6 yrs old anyway). So we kept all detectors on the same schedule, we replaced all of them. They aren't that expensive.

We found some at Wal*mart that you can check with a flashlight. By waving the flashlight back and forth over a sensor, it will test it. Beats dragging a chair over all the time to reach the button.

Of course, our now get checked frequently thanks to the kids!!

This is odd...the battery is dying in the smoke detector, I took it down, removed the battery, And of course I don't have another one......but the detector is still beeping. Even w/o the battery. I didn't know they did that?????

Pal Mickey just did this to us in October while we were taking a quick nap before MNSSHP. I could not get him to turn off no matter what--and he was only saying choppy sentences. So I stuck him in the fridge. Unfortunately, I forgot about him in there until AFTER MNSSHP. He was a bit chilly!!!

Does anyone know if America West has baggage check in at the port?

Delta does. Maybe a post on the "real" cruise board will get you answers.

Of course, THIS is the ONLY thread that MATTERS! ;)

half done. Everyone is linked. Now I must call tomorrow to request the seating arrangements and rotation. I just realized if formal night is Sunday 26, and we get Lumiere's for that night. then we will be in Animators start and finish. l

Sue - that's what I thought. That we'd be on the APL rotation. It is usually the one for the little ones, but when we had it in May '03 it was great. We were in Parrot Cay for Key West which was fun. We had the first Character Breakfast. We were in Lumiere's for both Formal and Semi-formal. Added bonus I think we had one of the best serving teams ever. I figured they put the ones with the best personalities on the kids rotation. We got magic tricks and everything. It was fun!

Thanks so much for doing this for us!

Ok, the REAL reason I logged on just now (but was distracted by all the other posts)....The director called me back. Opening night is safe. She wants Nick there. I asked, and YES, it IS because of the reviewers.

There seems to be a problem that she's encountering that she says she has NEVER encountered in all of her years directing plays. She wanted to give me a heads up in case she asks me to do something---that I will know it's not b/c of us.

Apparently, yesterday, the other Christopher Robin mom gave her a "several page handwritten letter" giving her ideas on how to make the play better!! In it she gave hints, criticized the actors for their interpretations of the parts and generally just slammed EVERYTHING that EVERYONE (except her son) was doing!!! So.....needless to say, the director is none too pleased to have a mom of a double cast kid telling HER what to do!!! So, she wanted to let me know that she *may* be kicking the mom's out of the rehearsal room---and that she'd only do it to me so it didn't look like she was singling the other mom out. Also, depending on how things go these next couple of days, she may actually be firing the other Christopher Robin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So she wanted to give me a heads up that we may have to pick up more shows. Not a problem---I just only wish we could finish out the run of it---if it wasn't for this cruise!! I apologized to her for anything we've done that hasn't been productive but reminded her that we've never done this before and we're rather green. She reassured me that we were "doing it the right way." :)

So there you have it. Thanks all for the kind words of support. I worried for nothing. The mama bear in me was ready to tear off a couple of heads!! A special thanks to Stacey who calmed my fears and gave me the virtual :grouphug: that I REALLY needed last night.

Ah, rehearsal should be fun today!

p.s. now I'm REALLY glad that I didn't approach the director and tell her that Eeyore was being played too "angry" and not "gloomy" enough! Whew!

We're down in the bowels in room 2573. Waitlisted for higher deck, but I've given up on the thought.

Lisa,

Don't feel lonely --- we are right down the hall in 2579. It really is a great location, we were in 2583 before and loved it, close to the stairs. Maybe we can keep each other company on the stairs up!!!!!:earsgirl:

Wow, this sounds FANTASTIC. We've always been PTA (or PLA) but this sounds better. It will work out all around!! First character breakfast will be nice. On our 7 day we ended up skipping it b/c by that time we'd been there so long we needed to sleep in one day!!! This will get it over with while it's fresh. But then doesn't that make our character breakfast the same day as our Palo brunch?? Yikes!! Hope my mom doesn't go into a diabetic coma with all that food! MODERATION is key! (yeah, right

Ongoing - for those who signed up we are going to play room "Tag". LeiLani (I think) is making up the large green Mickey head. It gets put on a room door. When you find it on your door sign your family name and room number and go "tag" another DIS'ers door. Do we need more than one to make the rounds? Did we set groundrules yet on this?

Hi Mary - Yes, I am doing th sign for the "tag" game. I have the sign all done, just need to print it out. No one has really said if we should do more than one or just leave it at one. I asked about rules but everyone said we really don't need them. The only thing I am concerned about is if someone should take off with our sign. I am making extra's just in case, but does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep track of it.

We're in 2100...Just down the hall... :)

The Behind the Steam train tour sounds really good --- DH has always wanted to do it --- you would think that he would get enough of trains since he drives them all the time, but every where we go if there's a train, we're on it. Maybe we can surpise him next June when we're at WDW --- sounds like a great Father's Day present!

TKD Lisa -- I hope you are feeling better. Andrea (14) has been sick for a week and DH just started feeling bad yesterday (he should have used the hand sanitizer on Saturday like I told him to!) The girls both said Mom always makes us use it --- anything to try and keep everyone healthy.

BTW --- we are flying in the 17th and staying at AKL --- no parks just enjoying Disney. Maybe going to the Poly beach to try and catch the fireworks --- I'll be thinking about all of you at MVMCP---it's great!

This actually sounds like a great rotation if DCL does what they are saying so far. This rotation would put us in Parrot Cay for Pirate night, and Lumiere's for formal night. And if they keep semi-formal to a sea day, we would either be in Luminere's or Animator's Palatte. The only down side is Christmas Dinner would be in Parrot Cay, but I guess you can't have everything.

OM - On this rotation you would have your character breakfast on the first Sunday 12/19(Key West day) unless DCL changes this because of 3 sea days. Either way it will not fall on the same day as the brunch 12/26, unless you scheduled it that way.

HTH

Good news Ohminnie!! And, you're welcome!

LeiLani....how do we request this same rotation for our late dining? It sounds perfect!

According to the Passporter, it doesn't look like America West has baggage check in at the port. I'm hoping we can check the bags in early. We have a day room at the Hyatt, since our plane doesn't leave until 5 pm.

I guess I really should get to work.

I guess we are the Brandy butter family.

Me - Happy Brandy butter-noodles
Rich - Smiley Brandy butter-cheeks
Brittany - Tumbleflump Brandy butter-elf
Alyssa - Fuzzy Brandy butter-baubles

Hmmm... wonder what that means.:scratchin

I can request this rotation the next time I talk to Debbie at DCL. She said she would not seat this cruise until the week before sailing date so we have plenty of time. How does this rotation sound for everyone on late dinning? Let me know.

I think I may have missed a post or two --- imagine that!

Anyway, is the early dining group set for APL? I haven't figured out the where and when yet, but if you all say it's good then it must be!!!! The character breakfast on Key West day would work great for us since we don't have any "plans".

Thanks Sue for doing all this for us!!!!:goodvibes
