I'm a person who loves other people's dogs - I love to pet them and play with them and pay attention to them, but am not (at least at this point in my life) a good match for all the responsibility of a dog.

I'm absolutely :love:loving:love: all the dog pics, though!!!

I have always loved dogs but never had growing up. My DH and I have rescued 2 dogs over the years. Our first was a golden retriever/greyhound mix that we adopted when she was 4 and lived to be 13. Our current is a shepherd/hound mix that we adopted at the age of 2 and is either 10 or 11. The vet and pet insurance have a different year and month listed and are not sure who is correct. Unfortunately she was abused so has some issues but has come a long way.

We don’t not have dogs but I did have 2 dogs as a teen. We have 2 cats. I am also a person who loves other peoples dogs.

I love all the dog pictures and the stories with them. Our wonderful bichon, Scruffy, died a while ago and we have not been able to get another dog since. I really miss having a dog around. They are so loving and fun to have. We talk about getting one, but then reality checks in. We live in a very cold, brutal winter climate and we would have to let the dog out during the day to do his "duties".
We are older now and my husband has balance issues so he could be accidentally knocked down by even a small dog. So, I guess I will make do with my son's cute golden retriever who is 5 y/o and still acts like a big puppy. Our daughter has a 13 y/o spaniel who is a sweetie. I love these dogs but I really miss having one. /Anyone else in the same boat as us?

I've always had a dog. Dogs start at 60 lbs IMHO. We had a Great Pyrenees, then later a lab/shepherd mix. DW and I have had a yellow lab, then a chocolate lab, and now a golden retriever. The Golden has been a challenge - they are super friendly but the labs were far easier to train and far more obedient.

My bonded pair that we rescued. Did DNA and found they are mother and son. They were found in the woods together. We got them at the start of covid after losing our other dog to illness. I was not looking to have any more dogs, but DH wanted them. So here we are 5 years later. As much as I love them, I sometimes think life would have been better if we didn't get them.

I don't have a dog currently although have had in the past in the family. I love dogs but I think i love them more when they're not mine 100% - too much responsibility and they just don't fit well with my lifestyle.

This was our last family dog Jess who passed away a couple of years ago at the age of 14:

Same here! Sometimes I think we could get a dog (always had dogs until about 20 years ago) but realistically we're not a great fit for owning a dog. We travel, and we enjoy having a schedule that isn't bound to walking a dog, letting them out, etc.

We have 2 cats and they are perfect for our lifestyle.

Yes, cats are good. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

We’ve always had Labs, but after our chocolate & yellow girls, died over 10 yrs ago…we were asked to rescue these 2 wheaten terrier sisters. They are BEST dogs ever. Smart, good with other animals, protective of their property and just sweethearts with the family.
