For formal night this trip, I just bought my almost 5 year old his own tux with the matching Mickey vest/bow tie to mine.

I can't wait to take the pictures with him.

- D

I think young boys in a tux look absolutely fabulous. I bet your DS is going to look great. The look so smart and so grown up.
My eldest would like to wear one - he is more into smart dressing. My youngest is seriously into casual. If I'd let him you would only see his soccer kit but somehow when we go on vacation I seem to leave them behind.

Angela, I don't know if you got an answer to your shorts question. They actually request in the the literature that no shorts or jeans be worn in the dining rooms on any night. They may not have encountered the type of shorts you have in mind, however. But I'd take pants for them too. Now on tropical/pirate night, I think it's more relaxed!

We like getting dressed up (our pic on Mary's website is a Celebrity Cruise semi-formal night pic). DH looks spiffy in his tux, and DD looooves getting dressed up. She never wears dresses at home, maybe that's why. It's a cruise-only deal. I bought her some long dresses last year, and she goes into my closet to visit them. Now I'm hoping they fit. She also loves going to dinner, never misses. I think it's because there's more fussing over at dinner than at any other time.

Tksbaskets, we do have several pin collectors in this group. They have an hour set aside every night just for pin trading in the atrium, usually at 7:30. We will be bringing some pins for trading, hope to see you there!

I suppose you were one of those that didn't think we could reach 10000 either. lol

I think it will be closer to 19424.

oops it Vick (not gaRry) but I'm sure ya'll could tell

Good Morning!

Clothing discussion.....I go to work in jeans and tennies, so this is my one chance to really dress up. I have one black checked skirt and sweater top, a couple of black dresses (doesn't everyone have the black dress?) a rose-colored formal for the formal, formal night, and then some skirts and tops for the more casual.
Not bringing any slacks....I look much fatter in slacks, than a skirt.
Jordan has several formal dresses, she's like Diana's DD....no dressing up at home, but she loves to do it for the cruises!
The "boys" have tuxes....and a couple of Mickey vests....the casual nights they will wear slacks and shirts, maybe a tie.
But DH's favorite is tropical. He has way too many tropical shirts to choose from!

Best get moving....soccer time.....

Have a great Saturday!

DS #2 "But Mom, they have pins we can only get THERE!"

Too funny!

Actually, last November we went on a DCL cruise and picked up a pin at CC. Dh got it because it was cute and he could wear it to work. It was limited edition, but he didn't check to see HOW limited.

Fast forward....we get to Disney and are at downtown Disney. Mike is looking for the cast lanyard formal series. One guy has them all except Goofy.....BUT he says "the ONLY pin I'm willing to trade for is a pin that JUST came out on Castaway Cay, limited edition 500, but I HIGHLY DOUBT *you* would have it." Mike pulls the pin out of his fanny pack and says "you mean THIS one????"

The guy nearly fainted and traded the entire set for that one pin. Now, how stupid of us not to buy more of a LE500 pin, but we had NO idea at the time!! Now when we see LE, we CHECK the back to see what it's limited to!! :)

And, yes, I will sing (badly) too!

DH reading the posts with me this morning, said he stumbles and screeches. Doesn't stumble or screech well, but he has fun. I think he may be starting to lurk here.

How fancy is fancy? I was sort of hoping a plain dress (definately no heels).......What do you think?

**ALSO** for those experienced cruisers....how warm/cold is the cabin at night for sleeping? Do you freeze? Is there a termostat in each and every cabin?

Christine [/B]

I think I might look for little slippers in a navy to match the dresses. I'm all for comfortable - esp footwear.

I love dressing up and DD is really looking forward to it, DS is trying to find a tux in his size. DH is set with the tux.

The cabin thermostat question - yes you have one in your cabin so it is as as warm or cold as you and the family want it to be.
Our is usually set cooler for Dh and I wear sweaters in the room or just sit on the verandah to thaw out.

Did a search on Pirate Costumes and came up with This one as well as others. Now, that's what I call a "wench's outfit" LOL

Okay, my DH just got a great laugh out of the wench costumes! Now, I am sure he would love to see those sexy, young things in the dining room..............but me..................I'd probably clear out the place (and that's not a good thing!)

Ok, so if I have one that will work (Nextel is my carrier) what are we talking in ROAMING charges? Does it cost an arm and a leg to call the US? I know my mom will want to call the three children she abandoned to be with me. ;)

Check with your carrier. We have Verizon and our book shows that the US Virgin Islands are included in our FREE long distance.

Is there anything else in our lives besides this cruise?

I'm going to Las Vegas next weekend, for the MGM/Mirage Holiday Gift Shoppe. I get to shop (free) for all kinds of cool stuff, jewelry, stereos, flat screen tv......I haven't even thought about packing for that, or what to buy.....all that's on my mind is cruise, cruise, cruise...

Stacey-I'm headed to Vegas next Friday for meetings. Will be there Friday, Sat. and Sunday. When are you there? Maybe we could do a pre-cruise meet?

Not frightening him at all. He is a very fun loving guy. I think he has just been really busy with other stuff and is just now getting into the cruise excitement mode. He made door signs last night and did not stop with one. We have three to change out during the cruise.

I've been working on our magnetic door sign (see honey, I can take direction:tongue: ) and am looking for a Disney Cruise Line logo. The one on the DCL site is broken up into sections and I would like to find a gif or jpg that is contiguous.

Anyone have an idea?

Kevin-ditto on that. I bought the magnetic signs at Walmart, now I just need to do them for four staterooms. Any ideas anyone? I was thinking maybe putting "Santa's List" and putting the first names of the kids and parents in that stateroom.

The Magic's in port, the Magic's in port. Just a sec........need to blow the horn............(thanks Mary)..................

Okay, now I can get moving.............

Just finished downloading the rest of Mary's newsletters, which of course are awesome. The kids are coming up today from Southern Utah and are stopping by here. Want to give them their final newsletters since we won't see them before Dec. 16 when they come up the night before our flight.

Boy......I've got alot to do today. DH flies out on Delta at 5 p.m. for Orlando, I fly out in the a.m. You would think we could go together, but no.....he is going on a free ticket I had that expires next month and I had already booked my flight. So to change it to tonight, they wanted another $600. WDW is worth it, but not when I've got a cruise for 13 in only 6 weeks!!!!!

Found a great deal at National yesterday on vans. So instead of taking a car service for 13 I rented two vans. Pick up at airport Friday afternoon, return at Cocoa Beach on Sat. a.m. $52.00 each, plus gas and $11 for taxi to ship. Couldn't beat that price and now I have a car so I can go to Downtown Disney at least with the girls on Friday night!!!!

I'll be back later. Have a great day everyone! I think we will hit 20,000 POSTS by sailaway!!!
