Thanks for the reply - the menus do look good! I am already thinking about which dessert I may have (I know they are pervious years but they look quite similar on the dessert front)!

I'll pick up a couple of packets of bread sauce before we leave.

thanks

Lorraine

Busy night last night!

Congrats to Virgil on 14,000 and Karen on 14,001 :D

went shopping last night for DH & DS some cruise pants, some success. store clerk wondered if we couldn't fatten up DS then the pants would fit. We had to get the cuffed ones so we could let it out, if he grows again between now and Dec.

found DH's after cruise project. Tile for laundry room and kids bathroom, with major remodel on the bathroom. I think it will be a good winter project for him.

Lisa I would love to see a ball at a Marine base - I know they get extravagant. We have a reserve unit out of Toledo, - very close. I do believe they still have auite a few of their guys that were called to active duty. Won't be the ##'s there have been in the past.

Have a great Saturday

If we hit 14000 and still have 42 days (or 6 weeks) til the cruise should we set the goal # closer to 20000 rather than 15?

Lynda I guess you aren't the only fluff queen

new guesses for our pre-cruise ## ??????

congrats Virgil on #14000 - pirate: pirate:

Good morning from England!!!
Have been desparately trying to catch up with all the posts, so please forgive me if I ask something that has already been answered!!!
Do we know when the formal nights are yet? And has Disney announced any special holiday happenings yet?!
Would love to hear about the types of dresses/suits women are planning for formal night as plan to go shopping for mine next week..............was going to wait until I was thinner............but I'm afraid that particular miracle dosen't seem to be happening!!!!!!
Thanks!

Haven't heard the nights yet. They keep telling LeiLani "soon."

Here is my "formal" dress (in black, not blue):

Here is my semi-formal dress:

Dh will be wearing a sport coat/pants/tie/shirt (socks and shoes too) ;)

We are NOT fancy people. Not in the least!!

SIX weeks? SIX weeks? It's looking less and less likely I'll lose my 10 pounds! :(

Thank you. I'm pretty proud of that 14,001. Just as I was the 13,281 (or whatever it was!) ;)

HI Debs :D

Karen - nice dresses.

For formal and semi-formal I'm using the same long black skirt. On formal night I'll team it up with a gold lurex sweater set and for semi-formal night I'll team it with a black top.

Of course if they make Christmas Eve or Christmas Day one of the formal nights that will change as I had different outfits planned for those.

Mark is going to rent a tux. Not only because he looks good in it :D but because that means one less thing to pack.

My guess (and hope) is that they are going to keep formal and semi-formal nights on sea days. That gives you a little time to get ready. I had planned our spa taster for what will be formal night and if that is a day we are in port I'm going to have to rethink that.

Don't worry about it.... I like my pirate name....

And I've had to explain my surfing habits before.....

One late night - I was looking for a new radar detector... and without even thinking typed in escort.com.... instead of escortradar.com.... Oh well...live and learn.....

You certainly have to be selective with your searches. My sister has been very active with the Boy Scouts and at the time was looking for information about flag staffs. Did a internet search for "staffs" and turn up some VERY interesting sites. Needless to say, they didn't pertain to flags........:earseek:

My plan is to mainly wear black trousers with various evening tops for dinner. I am taking two pairs black trousers - one velvet, one wool/cotton type mix.

For formal night I have a floor length velvet dress which I bought for last year's cruise - it is a kind of deep purple color. It is really comfortable and makes a nice swishy feeling when I walk.

I am assuming DH will wear his Dinner Suit although we haven't actually discussed it. For other nights he will probably wear sports jacket with shirt and trousers. I assume no tie is required on non-formal nights.

Not at all sure about semi-formal - I have a plain 3/4 length black dress which I could take (I have a huge collection of black dresses - all in various sizes - some fit some don't - you know how it is). Otherwise the trousers I guess.

What do the kids wear? Last year on P&O mine wore smart trousers and a shirt whenever they came to the dining room with us (which wasn't often) whatever night it was. What are the rules for kids on the Magic. I don't really like mine wearing shorts for dinner or jeans so it is easier if they just take a couple of nice pairs of trousers specially for dinner. Do kids wear smart shorts for dinner - my youngest will soon kick up a fuss if everyone else is wearing them.

I think Xmas day would be a nice night for a formal night but I'm not really bothered. I never really take long to get ready for anything - years of living in a mainly male house I guess.

Good Morning All:

6 weeks, I can't believe it. I was on chat last night and DH said I need professional help. I AM getting more & more obsessive as the weeks pass.

I know what you mean Karen about that 10 lbs. I have blown the diet at least 10 times since I started. Very unlikely I can lose 1 1/2 a week.

One of the regrets I had on our last cruise was not dressing to the nines for formal night. I saw all the beautiful family pitcures in gowns & tuxes at Shutters and really regretted not having one.

I went to Lord & Taylor last month and found a great gown on the clearance rack ($100)and am going to have it altered Monday night along with some other dresses that need to be taken in. I'm gonna rent a tux for DH at the port and torture DD (she hates dressing up) and by golly I'm going to have my pitcures.

I work at home so jeans & sneakers are my apparel so I am looking forward to getting gussed up.

On the 2002 cruise we were in Cozumel X-Mas Day. I know everyone got really dressed up for dinner that evening but I don't remember if it was because of the holiday or because it was a formal night.

Some one asked about phoning from St Thomas on X-Mas. We phoned our families from Mexico. It was very hard to get through and I was cut off on both calls. If I remember it was REALLY expensive. I have verizon. I can't imagine roaming being more expensive.

OHMINNIE: FANCY PEOPLE?![/

hey, how about both of us showing up in our best sweats?

Geez....I dress up all to often for my job.......I was planning on making this vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:hyper:

Seriously, I don't know how I'm going to be able to pack dh's a sport coat or ? Yet alone ds(12)....Yikes...don't even want to think about it.

How fancy is fancy? I was sort of hoping a plain dress (definately no heels).......What do you think?

**ALSO** for those experienced cruisers....how warm/cold is the cabin at night for sleeping? Do you freeze? Is there a termostat in each and every cabin?

I think fancy is as fancy as you want to be. If other people have a problem with how you are dressed, then it's THOSE people I feel sorry for. Let it ruin their vacation, it won't ruin mine!!! My goal is to be clean, not stink, and to look decent. I won't wear jeans or shorts or grunge clothes. I will, in my standards, be VERY dressed up.

HEELS? Ha. I do have a pair of shoes now that have, maybe, a 1 1/2 inch heel, but usually I wear flats (that is, if I can't get away with my boots or tennis shoes) For my wedding I wore white flats, for the reception I wore ballet slippers! COMFORT is my goal!

You'll be fine in whatever you choose. I won't care. Don't fret about it. Remember if ppl have a problem, let it ruin THEIR vacation, NOT YOURS! :)

Angela - your plan is very much like mine. I have a couple of pairs of black pants and some tops.

For Christmas eve I have a skirt set sequinned christmas lights on it. For Chrismas Day I have a red sweater with a sequinned Christmas tree on it. I'm usually not a fancy dresser, but it is the holidays and it is a cruise so why not. Hope to get lots of great pictures from it!

There is a thermostat in every room and I've never had trouble adjusting it to a comfortable temperature. :)

Boy, this was a busy thread yesterday!

DH, DSs, & I all collect pins. We were really bummed on our last cruise when we were unable to dock at Castaway Cay. DS #2 "But Mom, they have pins we can only get THERE!" The boys wanted to bring their pins along but I discouraged them. We lost our luggage on a trip back from WDW once, hat to loose a billion dollars worth of pins.....I think we'll take a picture of the DCL pins we already have.

As for formal and semi-formal nights, I have teenaged boys and a phys-ed teacher husband who dress up at weddings and funerals. I think DSs will be stylin' in black pants, dress shirts, and ties. DH has a handsome suit he purchased for our last cruise. Now mom....she'd better get shopping ::MinnieMo

Have a great Saturday. It's a beautiful fall day here in Michigan. Only 48 degrees but a clear blue sky and sunny.

Enjoy!
